I completely agree. The politicians need to weigh the risk of infection against the mental health of a nation. Yes places where people tend to congregate in close quarters need to be closed but there is a great deal of outdoor activity that should be considered safe and encouraged. People need this for their well being. This summer I plan on camping and fishing and I'll be choked if government does not allow these activities. Hell....I'll just do them anyway.

This is obscure but it was a regular season game against the Edmonton Eskimos in 1984. The Esks were a dynasty that had stopped some great Bomber teams every year for a decade or so. They seemed unbeatable. It was a show down for supremacy in the West, and we were behind a couple points late in the 4th Q. The D came on strong and forced an Edmonton punt from deep in their own end. I'll never forget Bob's play call..." Hank Ilesic back to punt....ITS BLOCKED...THIS COULD BE A TOUCHDOWN....AND IT IS.." I know...I know...one play in a regular season game from 1984? No man...that was the day we finally turned the corner and proved we could beat the Eskimos in an important game. We went on that year to win the Grey Cup and I think that game was the game that our guys really believed we could win it all and the Bombers dominance of the 80s began.

My advice is to not compare a pandemic to another while its in its infancy.

I agree. Why not err on the side of caution? Is that such a bad thing? As someone with health issues that put me at high risk if I contracted it, I beseech you all to please take this seriously.

If the WHO says it's a pandemic then it's a pandemic. They have the exclusive right to decide that whether anyone likes it or not. They have metrics and forecasting in place and don't make these decisions lightly or to try derail the Trump.

2019-20 Grey Cup Champs Off-season discussion.

Brown looks like a good prospect. Great legs. He needs to work on shortening his release and he stares down receivers but that's coachable. -
That is the most likely scenario imo as well.

I would be shocked if Buck deviated greatly from Lapo's approach to running an offence and play calling. Why would he? This offence has been very successful over the past few years. We will see a ton of Andrew, and a ton of short passes again this year.

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL
GCn20 replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Could be I got the timeline wrong. Wasn't memorizing it but it was definitely not 1.5 to 2 years. In fact, a US company named Moderna is organizing a clinical trial for a possible vaccine beginning next month. They are bypassing animal testing on it and so far no regulatory bodies in the US seem like they are going to shut this down. -

Guy from American CDC was on Joe Rogan show and said the vaccination is about 8-10 months away and that vaccinations don't go through the same kind of clinical trials and testing as medications. They either work or they don't and there is no real fear of long term effects. The big impediment is producing them fast enough at a global level. Very interesting segment, he also said Coronavirus is nothing new, it has been around for years and this is just a new mutation and they have been working on a vaccination for years already but this is a very resilient virus. He said that the virus has previously presented as a pretty weak strain of the flu so not a lot of money was put into vaccine research on it. -
Anyone can put seats in, but SaskTel arena isn't a spit in the ocean compared to any NHL arena. It's not even as nice as our old arena.

Post away...but I agree that some context would only add to the discussion. -
Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL
GCn20 replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I agree....but people watch it and attend in the US. Also, basketball playoffs will also cut into XFL big time. It's just a bad time of year to try attract fans to a 2nd tier league. The CFL has a built in fan base and a long history to fall back on, someone building a new league South of the border will have immense problems doing so. The NFL is kind of weird in that it has zero interest in helping fund or using a farm league and that quite frankly was the only hope a spring football league had at success. Can't say I blame them, the NCAA has an outstanding system for that and costs the NFL owners nothing. -
I wish every DB would chirp Darvin...he usually gets pretty motivated afterwards.

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL

What should be concerning Vince the most is that the quality of play has been getting worse, not better. That does not bode well for this league. It is completely devoid of offensive talent and that is resulting in games being ultra boring. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the game in the first couple weeks, and now it seems that the offences are just ill equipped now that there is film on them. QBs that can't throw and OLs that can't block...it's like watching the 1995 Bombers. I'd love to see an XFL/CFL exhibition game before the new league tanks...it would be a blow out. -
Four stripes shouldn't be defending a stadium their team can't win a playoff game in. Nice stadium...very visitor friendly.

This is pretty much a carbon copy of the trends from the first XFL and AAF. Americans are apathetic to spring football. These numbers will decrease as March Madness starts taking over. -

Like I said, I think Vince is likely to ride it out beyond this year unless TV turns their back on him again. At the end of the day this league shows the apparent problems with the American game. It's a very boring style of football that must have excellent execution in order to keep fans engaged. There just isn't enough margin for error to make mistakes or take big risks in the NFL style game. Even a shortened game like the XFL can be exceedingly boring to watch. -
Sorry but no matter how many times you are incorrect you will never beat Stronson's throwing crap at the wall and then calling it insider info prognosticating. That guy is NEVER right but is always right in his own mind...just moves the goal posts.

As someone who has extensive experience in purchasing and negotiation of advertising in TV and other media I can assure you that is exactly how it works. -

Nationwide total viewing doesn't mean bupkus. Market saturation is what's important. % of people watching is what the networks care about. Canada may have similar TV numbers nationwide but has a 90% smaller TV viewership. Therefore, TSN can sell ad space at a much higher rate for it's CFL broadcasts then what the American channels can ask for a very small TV market share. I do agree that this league seems like it may survive past the one year mark. However, I am sure it is hemorrhaging money right now and will likely have to make some tough decisions after year one likely on player salaries. -
This might be the epitome of Riderfan hypocrisy. For a team's fan base that just witnessed that a Collaros injury is indeed survivable you sure didn't bother to commit that to your long term memory. Just a stupid comment made stupider by the fact that this exact scenario rolled out for you guys last year.

The Riders media toes the line is all. The RIders are the only game in town and any sportscaster that doesn't blow sunshine up their arse gets blackballed by the club. There is literally one sport to report on in Saskatchewan, either you kiss Rider butt or you don't work. Ask Rod Pedersen...one slip up in 20 years and he gets to walk the unemployment line.

It's odd because it's not true. Desjardin is the GM.

That's just it exactly. Its hard to take his warnings and criticisms seriously when he has shown he has no balance to his outlook whatsoever. He is quite literally the boy who cried wolf. Nothing is ever good enough and doom lurks around every corner. For the most part some of his concerns are valid, however, an equal amount are unfounded and out to lunch and it has earned him a reputation as a contrarian and that is the type of post no one respects because it is devoid of merit as often as it is right.
