  1. So Manitoba instituting 'isolation centres' to force people to self-isolate even if they've only been in contact with someone who has tested positive...  thanks to a few small clusters.  Insane.  I can't imagine what things would be like if this actually was as contagious and deadly as we believe...

Except that's exactly what the Liberals have done through the Canada Emergency business account... not only is it interest free, they get a 25% loan forgiveness if it's repaid in full by December 31, 2022. The only requirement to get the loan is payroll in between $50,000 and $1 million.

Well that would have brought us up to $320,000... only $29,680,000 to go...

  3. Kulikov and buff gone - that’s what $10-12 mill?  Little is likely retiring... that’s a lot of cap space

theres some decent big D on the market - we will get Dillon or Hamonic or both

or trade niku and Copp for Trouba...

jets are really dropping the ball on developing a second C though - don’t see us trading for one - Roslo needs to step up

lafreniere will be nice for seven minutes a game while Maurice seasons him for five years...

when you add up Canadian players...coaches...the front office staff...game day workers..vendors..stadium crews...tv crews...refs...it is majority of Canadian employees who are not able to work...or are working on a reduced workload

CFL could easily be covering that with the CERB wage subsidy like the rest of us...  I just don’t understand the package they are asking for - seems like they just asked for a loan without a real plan

CERB wage subsidy covers all those people listed to 70-80% - BDC has had a large scale CERB emergency loan program available for three months now - the interest is low on that even if it’s not interest free - plus you always have an option to negotiate for a forgiveable loan down the line

would be good to see some details - I no longer see the roadblock facing the CFL

You’re quibbling about the fact it’s a federal facility and not the scope of the “grant” versus a high interest loan?

    OK then.

I’m quibbling about the fact that it’s apples and oranges.  And that sports fans are crying about how art is not important ha - the same way the rest of the country says sports are pointless

    La de da.

This is exactly the point some of us were trying to make.
Money for nothing for the ‘arts’ culture, but a bad loan for the lower class culture?

C’mon, you can do better than that Canada.

Easy to take shots like this but this is a federally owned facility - not a private business - and not employing a majority of Americans

CFL looks like it’s totally fumbles this funding request... first time for me that it looks like there will be no season

  7. There have been a lot of players who have used moves like this - slew foot, slide the stick under someone’s skate, jump to avoid a player with your elbows as high as possible - glen anderson comes to mind...

it’s always intentional. That’s just the type of player he is

Who did not see this coming? The people that are going to have such an appetite for risk to travel recklessly are the same people not to where a mask anywhere, ergo they have a higher infection rates due to their behavior. Talk about short-term thinking for long-term pain.

Are you talking about the Mennonites or the Hutterites- I’m confused now..,

  9. Calgary just followed the same game plan everyone uses against the jets - send a fore checker to hammer our D behind our net, lineup at the blue line to prevent zone entry.. without Scheifele it worked

jets need to sign one or two big talented D - sad that Wheeler is our enforcer

  10. I guess its fun to say how horribly out of control Alberta is... but again I don't see it

The serious cases/deaths seem centred on the Good Samaritan nursing home

    https://edition.cnn.com/2020/07/30/health/t-cells-coronavirus-study-wellness/index.html?fbclid=IwAR1u8ZPOwkdACcgEMlkjNJH7bwWUzYDHik7uHjrbsP41xiUWnqsdciqKH2E

Antibody testing is showing how rampant covid was in mid-May... 36000 Albertans infected before lockdown started.

I'd be very interested to see tracking numbers of deaths and hospitalizations.

New data for Canada is saying that beyond the 80% of deaths in nursing homes... 80% of the remaining deaths are minority/poverty related

Seems like the only thing we aren't talking about is care for the elderly and the poor right now.

But we don’t bargain with them. I wouldn’t approach them at all. The league must agree to come with contract offers to all imports that cater to our need, not for anybody else.
We will lose some potential star players but we lose them anyways. At least we can have them for 2-3 years.
We will still get noticed, and that’s what we want.

    Lets take back our league

We set the rules for our league, and our league alone. We set the contracts for our league. We are not going to be in any less bargaining position than we are now.

Still delusional I see.  That's reassuring.

As the hours pass, and no good news forthcoming, it looks like our off season discussion thread will continue, and break all thread records.

Here, I’ll start, “I simply can’t wait until free agency starts next February”

Another click bait headline... it’s good to read the article
