Just feels like we're stuck with Hurl because Hall saw something in him back in 2012 and he just wants to prove that its there

No its the annual twist my observations into negative comments and then follow up with righteous indignation. Vanilla defence against vanilla offence should mean boring games... not 200 yards by Brandon Bridge... Our starters are playing against their backups - I do not want to see James Franklin throw for 200+ in a half and I want to see Nichols march down the field and score on the first drive against Benevides. That's not an unrealistic expectation.

Ah yes, the annual reminder before Richie Hall's defence gives up the most yardage of any team in the regular season... Or is this like the reminder that pre-season didn't matter when Drew Willy looked awful last year...? ... or when Tim Burke's team already looked defeated and when Etch's defence looked as confusing as we all knew it would be...

Jonathon Jennings really reminds me of Elliott - he's a guy that I could see as an elite QB or completely out of the league in two years... As for those quoting stats - in his last season, Elliott was 60% with 2100 yards in 7 games (on pace for 5000+ yards) and a zillion INTs... ahem... He needed a QB coach - instead he went thru two crap OCs and a garbage OL - then Burke benched him for 'freelancing'

Yup... but so does missing out on the FA competition for Collaros and then Burris. I just want to be excited about a potential franchise QB that the bombers have found - really thought Joey Elliott was that guy... hoped Marve might be... Will be good to see what Davis can really do, hopefully they give him most of Thursday's game - doesn't seem like he's really lit up a team yet...

I wouldn't totally say that... BC ended up with Danny Vandevoort because of good QB recruiting... I'd be surprised if Franklin doesn't get a decent haul

I think its fair to be realistic... Davis has looked better than average in his regular season game and this pre-season game. He is not the best CFL backup or even best CFL QB prospect by a long shot but I am glad that we have stuck with him and developed him for two years. This is not an argument that the bombers are the only team that sometimes scouts duds or that we're the only team not developing a QB or that we can't sign free agents... the concern is that the last 3 prospects have flamed out instantly. Nichols was not a diamond in the rough where we saw something no one else did... he was a mid-season desperation move after Willy got hurt and Brohm tanked. Bombers got lucky with him. I had very high hopes - Danny Mac with his CFL QB experience and Goveia - I thought - had a hand in some of the QB recruiting in Toronto. But bombers are thin at QB... LeFevour might be better 'in game' but he's still a poor man's Kevin Glenn. On the bright side, he's the best of Hamilton's junk QBs that we've brought in.

Don't be childish. I'm pointing out that Danny Mac and Ted Goveia have not successfully recruited a QB development prospect. Or at least one that fits into the system. Bethel-Thompson was on the PR for a month. Bell didn't make TC Apodaca didn't make it through one pre-season game. Bennett lasted for a year and the team let him walk.

True... but the whole scouting Apodaca and Bell for 'years' is a bit scary they didn't even survive TC Scouted Bethel-Thompson, Bennett... seems to be a disconnect between coaches and scouts
