It was fairly widespread opinion that McManus was a great addition because of his exp as CFL QB and that this should translate to helping us find develop QBs... he was given a lot of credit for scouting Drew Willy... That and he is the Director of US Scouting and quarterback is the most important position on the team... he's not skimming video and then passing all the real work onto the OC.

He's gone now but putting Apodaca in was a strange move... the guy's barely had any reps and should have just been in to mop up late in the 4th - weird way to evaluate.

Isn't McManus supposed to be our QB prospect guru...? We're bringing in guys after a 'brief scouting and film session'...???

And with the 3rd overall pick, the Winnipeg Jets select... Nicolas Hague.

Nichols is kind of a Reilly/Glenn hybrid... he has the grit and pocket awareness of Reilly but is a lot like Glenn in terms of dink-and-dunking a team to death - and if he doesn't throw a pick for a TD, will usually win you a game... but he might throw that pick Nichols from last year - looked like the guy that came into the league... not the injured train-wreck that we traded for

True - but I'm not really a fan of the 'no one else signed him' argument... I just could never understand that complete lack of snaps - I think Brohm and Marve were the other guys in camp... Very fair to start questioning our QB scouting abilities

Devone Claybrooks but he was probably never 'really' available... but for sure its sparse pickins out there... In terms of replacements... you're probably going to have to look at some new blood - I think Jason Shivers, Greg Knox, Ike Charlton all probably have the right mindset/experience to step up and have experience in the right systems

Interesting to hear the theory that all the Riders QBs are just placeholders until James Franklin is a free agent...
