  1. Shane Helms' vertebreaker was a heck of a finisher too. Google it if you've never seen it. WWE banned it. Great moments: Vince simulcast on RAW/Nitro. Crazy.
  2. Its been said before but deserves repeating: Bettman doesnt run the NHL, the owners do. Bettman serves at their pleasure. They want more teams, more money and a wider TV deal. Its Bettman's job to go out and do it. He does a very, very good job. Just no reason for him to lie.
  3. That Big Show finisher was pretty long ago as he's wearing the old WWF logo on his shirt. Show was a mess in WWE. Gets pinned on RAW in his first match. *fart*
  4. Business is business. Ill embrace it for that reason. Nothing you can do about it. Watered down? Ofcourse but thats the way it is. I like Bettman but this is why people dont take him seriously - he lies and lies and lies. He flat out lied to HNIC two weeks ago. Interesting aspect is where they expand. With the Coyotes in disarray, they might want to keep a soft landing spot open for them. So on one hand, Vegas is the easiest place to move the Coyotes. But Quebec could be seen as the softest landing spot...a city they dont *want* to return to but know it will succeed. The difference between Quebec and Winnipeg is that Quebec is likely seen as a city that would pay a massive expansion fee whereas Winnipeg wasnt. So in essence, Bettman helped Winnipeg out by painting the Jets as doing the NHL a favour and getting the Thrashers for a relative song. if I had to guess, I'd say expansion to Vegas and Seattle. With Arizona relocating to Quebec. But it could just as easily be expansion to Quebec and Vegas with Seattle as the back up plan. But Seattle is the furthest from ready and if the Yotes go t!ts up over night, they need a quicky relocation. Quebec is the easiest and Vegas is pretty easy too once the arena is complete.
  5. Here are a few other moments I love: Flair beating Vader to win World Championship (Starcade 93 or 94) Eddie beating Brock to win WWE title, ofcourse (We brought Eddie in for us here in Winnipeg in 2002, wonderful guy) Mike Tyson/Steve Austin pull apart brawl on RAW Shane McMahon vs Kurt Angle Street Fight (must be seen) Brock's missed shooting star press on Kurt Angle at WrestleMania Hogan/Rock plus Hogan's return to Montreal after WrestleMania Randy Savage's turn on Hogan - SNME Warrior beating Hogan Scott Hall's first appearance on Nitro (sort of sucked but hugely historically significant) Lita vs Trish, main event of RAW (women in the main event) Bobby Heenan appearing on WWE TV with the NWA World Championship belt Ric Flair confronting Hulk Hogan on an episode of The Funeral Parlor - hugely significant Royal Rumble 92. The entire thing.
  6. This is tough. I will likely hedge a lot...lol 1. Fav Wrestler: Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Randy Savage, Eddie Guerrero, Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle (list could go on and on) 2. Fav. Character: Ultimate Warrior 3. Fav. Face: Ric Flair (as a face he got to shine more than as a heel), Eddie Guerrero was also awesome 4. Fav. Heel: Ric Flair (dirtiest player in the game) 5. Fav Finisher: Always loved the SuperPlex, also the Power Plex (Power & Glory) 6. Fav. Tag Team: Arn & Tully, Midnight Express 7. Fav Moment: Eddie winning WWE World Championship 8. Fav guy on the stick: Ric Flair 9. Fav foreign object: Dildo (especially in my own invention, the Sex Toy on a Pole Match) 10: fav catch Phrase: Hard to argue with Austin 3:16 since it made the most money of all time.
  7. Buff signed a 5 year deal in Atlanta so he doesnt strike me as the type that cares too much about the politics of the team. There will be plenty of Free Agents Arizona can over-pay to reach the floor though.
  8. gary lawless ✔ @garylawless Two more NHL teams, every fringe player in the league can now comfortably buy that new boat. Water in summer, watered down in winter. randy turner ✔ @randyturner15 LRT: Only two weeks after Gary Bettman HNIC interview saying expansion not on NHL "radar", Bettman will announce plans for NHL expansion.
  9. Looks like a fairly lengthy road trip to start the season. 8th versus Boston 9th versus Devils 16th (?) at home versus Flames
  10. The more worrisome aspect of that story is how this guy was basically apprehended off the street and convicted for stating his opinion. Might sound okay if you don't agree with his opinion but consider that some day you could be apprehended and charged for stating an equally unpopular opinion. I have zero concern that I will ever have an opinion that would be so "unpopular" that I'd have to worry about being apprehended. There's violating rights and then there's idiots that should do everyone a favour and move to Syria if they love it there so much (and have their citizenship revoked). He might be mentally ill and if so, needs help. But I have no issue with him being investigated and kept on a short leash. If someone publicly says the murder of Canadians was deserved and publicly supports those that did it, thats someone who shouldnt have the same freedoms as you and me. And I say that as someone that generally believes everyone should be able to do what they want as long as it doesnt hurt anyone. This guy is a clown. No sympathy.
  11. I guess it depends on their contracts. Doesnt Buff have a 5 team No Trade list? So does he dislike five other teams more than Arizona?
  12. Darren Dreger ✔ @DarrenDreger The Jets do not have a deal in place for Burmistrov. Cheveldayoff, now in Florida needs to meet with agent Mike Liut to further discuss.
  13. Would it not fall under any sort of hate speech legislation? Im pretty sure no one would get away with posting a giant portrait of, say Hitler, (not comparing them, just making a point)...I love Canada and Im even okay with us erring on the side of allowing too much but some things just dont pass the common sense sniff test in an enlightened society. Look at the US...where the state government endorsed a symbol of racism and war until the shooting in Charlston and now suddenly its common sense to remove it. No kidding.
  14. It would not surprise me at all if the Jets are trying to move up. In fact I'd be shocked if Chevy wasnt having those conversations. They've been pretty consistent in saying their model is draft & develop but also putting together enough assets that you can move some for a better player/position. They are getting to that place where they could start using their picks and prospects as currency. Arizona is a good target. The last thing the Coyotes needs is another young player that no one in the state cares about. They needed young players when they had no money to spend. Now they are way below the salary floor. Although Im not sure Morrissey would be overly attractive to them, might as well keep their pick. Someone like Enstrom/Buff gives them something they need - salary.
  15. Wait. Am I to understand there is a giant portrait of a terrorist on a building in BC? Im very much for religious freedom. That goes too far. Read an interview with the Winnipeg ISIS supporter this morning. Just face palm worthy nonsense. People that support a culture or regime that would kill them in one second if they expressed the same sorts of opinions about them as they do about western government.
  16. This should make Free Agent Frenzy day a lot more exciting as guys will likely have made a decision by July 1st and all that will need to happen is the announcement. Id assume that means July 1st has many announcements early (which is good TV) and the analysts can spend the rest of the program analyzing. I think it might allow for more Free Agents to stay with their former team as the pressure is less. A player can go out and collect offers, know his value and give it some real sober thought. Where things might get interesting is that teams will make offers for certain players but have a list of Plan B and Plan C and if their Plan A signs somewhere else on July 1st, they might try to get in on some other discussions. But if this goes to plan, youd think every Free Agent would know where he's going before July 1st and every team would know who's signing with them before July 1st.
  17. Loved Buddy Landel. He was a guy that was destined for great things but drugs and alcohol caused him to blow his opportunity. He was being groomed to be the next Ric Flair.
  18. Jamie Noble was feared seriously injured last night at RAW when he was slammed into the barricade by Brock Lesnar. He was stretchered out on a backboard with an oxygen mask and rushed to the hospital. Suffered several broken ribs. Might be the most interesting thing to have happened on another awful RAW episode.
  19. If true, it shows the patience of Chevy paying off. Why a player would want to negotiate now with only a few days before UFA, is a mystery to me. But if the Jets have somehow convinced him to stay here, good on them.
  20. Morrissey, 25th & Burmi for Hanifin? Yes that's probably a no-brainer. Shores up the D immediately and adds a guy people compare to Keith. Would make you wonder what the D looks like in 3-5 years with Hanifin/Trouba. Yotes are supposedly well below the Cap floor and will need some salary. Any thought they might look at a guy like Buff? He's a superstar that might help sell tickets, adds some needed salary without a commitment beyond this season.
  21. I like sharp. Could see the jets having interest if they can't keep Stafford. Chicago asking way too much but everyone knows they have to cut salary so they won't get anywhere near that much
  22. That would be interesting. Would suck to see Morrissey go but if the return is worth it then so be it. If they want an NHL ready LHD that's also interesting from the perspective of possible not moving one of the RHD to LH. Hmmmmm
  23. Over-rated by whom? As an 8th overall pick, sure maybe. But I dont think he's over-rated. I havent seen him rated highly too many places. I think he showed well here until the rift with the coach ended things for him. He was probably Kane's best linemate, one of the best puck possession guys we had, and was never afraid to go into the corners and get the puck. I think he's very talented. If someone says he's a top line, 30 goal guy then yes, over-rated. if they say he's a low 2nd line, high 3rd line who will have good puck possession numbers and be sound defensively, then I'd say he's rated on target.
  24. His agent has zero leverage. They will sign. Maybe just a one year deal though. He has the potential and skill to be a mid six guy, in my opinion. 2nd/3rd line guy. He'd be a big boost on the 3RW and PK, especially losing Frolik. I think he'd be decent on a line with Ehlers too.
  25. Extremely protected. But usually celebrities dont like to show a$$ like that. Good on him, though his entourage did help him up too quickly. They've been trying to get Justin Bieber for a shot too.
