  1. Pretty historic. Many people around here will shrug and wonder how this is still a debate in 2015. Sadly, it is. But the Supreme Court made the right decision. What surprises me is how there are still highly intelligent public figures on the wrong side of history. The vote was 5-4 down political lines (which disappoints me). In a dissent, Justice Antonin Scalia blasted the Court's "threat to American democracy." "The substance of today's decree is not of immense personal importance to me," he wrote. "But what really astounds is the hubris reflected in today's judicial Putsch." "If you are among the many Americans—of whatever sexual orientation—who favor expanding same-sex marriage, by all means celebrate today's decision. Celebrate the achievement of a desired goal," he wrote. "Celebrate the opportunity for a new expression of commitment to a partner. Celebrate the availability of new benefits. But do not celebrate the Constitution. It had nothing to do with it. I realise the job of the Supreme Court is not to make law but interpret law but how can they be so blatantly on the wrong side here. Im a conservative and could never be so blinded by a political ideology as to vote against this. With a US federal election looming, the candidates weighed in: "In a country as diverse as ours, good people who have opposing views should be able to live side by side. It is now crucial that as a country we protect religious freedom and the right of conscience and also not discriminate," Bush said in his statement. A very careful statement by Bush. I like Jeb and I know its politics but have the courage to LEAD. It gets far worse: Conservative firebrands, including Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, said that conservatives must stand and fight by seeking a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. "I will not acquiesce to an imperial court any more than our founders acquiesced to an imperial British monarch. We must resist and reject judicial tyranny, not retreat," Huckabee said in a statement. On the flip side: Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said she was "proud" of the ruling. http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/26/politics/supreme-court-same-sex-marriage-ruling/index.html
  2. more to come....Hamilton for #3 still going strong Source: Eklund This one actually makes some sense as Boston could replace their highly touted young D man with another.
  3. Craig CustanceVerified account ‏@CraigCustance There's a gap in early contract talks between Jets & Byfuglien. Have to wonder if they'd move him rather than let him play out final year.
  4. Imagine hanging out with Hutch at the party and Bettman steps to the mic and says "we have a trade. Jets send Michael Hutchinson..."
  5. Odds are the Jets would surprise people lol Supposedly Hanifin is thought of by all as an NHL'er this coming season. I forgot about Chiarot though. I wonder if he could switch to the RHD. Chances are Jets wont move up. But havent really heard them targeting other picks other then generalized "they want into the top ten". If their main focus is #3 its because there is someone they absolutely want and are worried will be gone at 3. Odds are thats Hanifin or Strome.
  6. Whats Arizona's goaltending situation like? Would Comrie or Hutch be included to sweeten the deal?
  7. He's not the different in June. Might be the difference in March. But the Jets have all summer to replace him. My worry this season is, if we sign Stafford we should be okay offensively. But relying on Ehlers as a top six, he's a rookie and I wonder about the inevitable slump.
  8. I like it but I would have Copp at centre on the 4th line, cut Odell, and sign a free agent RW. Odell isnt long for the NHL. Copp is the 4C Top six look good with Stafford back. But we're still thin after that. Perrault will be a very good 3LW and the first guy to move up in injury situations but the depth in the middle to low six is not great. If the Jets are eager to move up in the draft to grab a stud D-man, part of their plan might be to move Buff to fill in the middle six. If they get the 3rd pick and draft one of the two D men slated to go, it solidifies the D for years and still leaves someone expendable. Then you flip Buff and you're golden. Toby - Myers Hanifin-Trouba Stuart- ??? With Morrissey and a couple other prospects coming up. Looks good.
  9. Ken Wiebe @WiebeSunSports "Talks are ongoing and well intentioned." - Steve Bartlett, agent for pending UFA F Drew Stafford, on where things stand with #NHLJets
  10. Frank Seravalli ✔ @frank_seravalli Tim Murray: "If you'd have told me we'd end up w Eichel, Kane and Lehner for 3 first round picks, I'd have said you were high on mushrooms."
  11. gary lawless ✔ @garylawless Source involved with talks between #nhljets and Drew Stafford says they "are working hard," on putting a deal together #bn **I find this interesting. Why wouldnt Stafford wil til Wednesday?
  12. gary lawless ✔ @garylawless Becoming clear where #nhljets are concerned, they think Nik Ehlers is ready. He'll be given every chance to be in NHL next season. Top 6 #bn
  13. Ken Wiebe @WiebeSunSports For what it's worth, top D prospect Noah Hanifin said yesterday he met with #NHLJets at the combine in Buffalo but not here in Florida
  14. gary lawless ✔ @garylawless talk #nhljets are in play to move up to No. 3.Guess is they would take D Noah Hanafin which gives them security if they can't re-sign Buff ****I like the Buff connection. Is this something the Jets want so they can move on from Buff? Perhaps they can sweeten the offer knowing they can then flip Buff for assets and have more money to maybe circle back around on Stafford/Frolik.
  15. Ken Wiebe @WiebeSunSports Soderberg, who gets 5-years at $4.75 million per, had similar point totals to Frolik but personally think Frolik brings more to the table
  16. Flyers Want to Get to #3you can officially add them. I was just told two solid prospects (One forward, one D-man) plus #7 in play. Source: Eklund Consider the source but if there is any truth, then the #3 price is rising. How high will Jets go? Lawless seems to think the Jets two first rounders plus Burmi is high enough.
  17. My 2 rules 1. No Russians 2. Trade UFA's at deadline. I agree about trading UFA's at deadline but this one made no sense. The Jets were in the market for rental players. How can we both suggest the Jets go out and get a rental player to help their playoff push AND trade one of their better forwards? If Frolik played for another team he's the type of player the Jets would have wanted to trade for. So in this case you look at keeping Frolik as though its getting a rental without giving up anything in return. If they were out of the playoffs, then you absolutely make the deal. If its a piece like Buff, you'd consider it too but probably dont trade him. Thats why Buff either has to be re-signed OR traded before the season begins. You can't be in the position to trade him at the deadline if you're in a playoff spot and you cant be forced to keep him and lose him for nothing, not someone that will bring you a strong return.
  18. Bob McKenzie ✔ @TSNBobMcKenzie It certainly sounds like Arizona is leaning towards trading the No. 3 overall pick. Multiple teams interested, incl CBJ, WPG and perhaps BOS
  19. Troy Westwood @TroyWestwood As per information on each team's website the @MapleLeafs have a scouting staff of 10 people. The @NHLJets have 20.
  20. Absolutely not. Sacrifice the playoffs to trade him? Look at this way, it's adding a rental for nothing.
  21. @Teddier: If Dreger is saying that Sharks have an offer in for Talbot why is CKNW saying Bieksa, Markstrom and 23rd for Sharks first- 9th overall Things are going to start getting crazy.
  22. They should built five stadiums all over the city so it was close to every whiner.
  23. @theScore: Bruins trade Carl Soderberg's rights to Avalanche for 6th-round pick in 2016. http://t.co/GlE8KcJ3xFhttp://t.co/lxDTmYzruY
