  1. There could be an agreement behind the scenes. But logically, if he was going to sign with Tampa, he would have already. When the Jets signed Buff, they made sure his NTC turned into a modified one in the later years so as to protect them from a player that says he wants to help the team but really doesnt. In hindsight, Tampa should have done the same. They didnt so they have to live with it. None of which changes the fact that Stamkos is not bound by the NMC as his GM is. His GM has no choice. The player does. The player chooses to not let his team get anything for him. The player is a jerk. Plain and simple.
  2. You're looking at it from one perspective. Does the player have a moral responsibility to the team? Sure he does. You're saying well the player lived up to his obligation to the team. What about what the team did for the player? Guess what? If the player gets hurt, he gets paid. If a player sucks, he gets paid. Guaranteed. Just because you CAN do something doesnt mean you SHOULD and it doesnt make it right. NMC's exist because players have leverage. In a perfect world all the GM's would have a wink wink promise to each other to never give them out or never give them out in the final year of the deal. That's called collusion. I suggest the league mandating them out because it prevents GM's from being stupid and/or going rogue to the detriment of the other teams. Not to mention you could have a scenario where on GM signs a deal, gets fired and now the new GM is handcuffed. Its 100% classless of a player to say "I just want to help this team so I will not waive my NMC" and then leave two months later. It's a lie. Its disingenuous and its selfish. Yes, Tampa signed the deal. But if Stamkos knows he wants to leave, he's a jerk for not letting Tampa trade him. If Tampa and Stamkos know they will sign a new deal, it's a moot point. But we've seen this before. And yes, it makes the player a jerk. Oh but he's legally allowed to be a jerk. Doesnt change the fact he's a jerk. Oh and its wrong to say its the fault of the GM not the player. The player has a choice. Its both their faults. Explanation enough?
  3. Thats a heck of an explanation.
  4. Well said. I wanted to love Man of Steel so much. I begged my buddy to see it. He wanted to see some comedy (This Is The End, I think) so I convinced him to make it a double header with me. Literally seconds into MOS, I leaned into him and said "Uh oh, they screwed it up". I knew from the moment Jor El mounted some CGI flying creature on some goofy CGI Krypton world. Ugh. I agree with much of what you wrote. I didnt mind the actors. I loved Michael Shannon, just not how they altered Zod. Cavil is ok. Superman is hard to write because he's so powerful. The way I heard it, Snyder was given an opportunity to do a MOS sequel and it wasnt until the last second they decided to put Batman in it and launch the Justice League. So they sort of had to go with whomever they had on deck. I would guess if Nolan wanted the job of DC guru, he could have got it. And perhaps we'd have Superman coming into the Christian Bale Batman world. I loved Watchmen and wish Snyder had kept some of his sensibilities with that film for MOS. The slow motion, bone breaking fight scenes, a sort of hyper realism, I liked. The video game-esque fight scenes in MOS took the viewer out of it. It didnt seem real and we couldnt see what was happening so the death, destruction and brutality didnt matter. Anyone who watched Christopher Reeves Superman probably wondered why this Superman didnt do the same thing, the logical thing - when he saw civilians in danger, he lured Zod away. I love DC. Im just worried about it. Marvel is all about team ups. X-men. Avengers. Its team up characters that also do solo adventures. DC is solo characters that also did team ups. Batman is a dark, brooding loner. Seeing him with Superman and Flash and Green Lantern might be jarring... And as much as Affleck is reportedly the best part of the film and as much as I actually like him, whenever I see him as Bruce Wayne, I see BEN AFFLECK, not Bruce Wayne, not in the same way Christian Bale WAS Bruce Wayne. If that makes sense.
  5. You're probably right. I just sort of look at the jets and think there won't be a gaping hole they need to fill and thus might decide to give him more time. Plus at some point they might want to improve the moose. The moose aren't a business that needs to win anymore. Their goal is developmentsl but does always losing negatively impact the youth? BL is the type that might have a positive impact on the culture of the moose. Just idle speculation on my part.
  6. Well if his junior eligibility is up there is no option other than turning pro. Moose or Jets.
  7. Wade is hurt right now. Rumours of him wanting to try MMA.
  8. Well then I stand corrected. I think he spends time with the moose. Which is good for the moose.
  9. Yeah but make changes that improve the team in the off season. Not right now.
  10. Gooood. Goooooooooood. Now if only those idiots in Columbus would go on a run.
  11. I could see Lemieux playing one more year.
  12. Nice though but most want to turn pro asap. One contract and they are looking pretty good financially.
  13. Is Svedberg a RHD? He shoots left... Maybe could switch. 6'9". Potential 3/4 d man. Imagine him and buff.
  14. Throw in Viktor Svedberg.
  15. Cause America is stupid
  16. The campaign didn't use that address. They used Jeb2016 or something. Silly of them to not try and secure all similar addresses though.
  17. An exact date has been set for Norman Reedus last day on The Walking Dead. The date is April 1st…April Fools! If Norman Reedus were really leaving, I wouldn’t be writing this, I’d be in the corner crying.
  18. Apparently, UFC middleweight fighter Michael Bisping went on a Sirius XM Radio show and said that Punk brought in 16 ‘smokers’ to the gym (smokers are essentially test fighters. You bring them in, go through a real fight situation in the gym, a gym fight if you will). The bad news, allegedly he lost to 15 of them. Some are calling BS on this saying you dont do 16 test fights like that in training...Im no expert so I have no clue.
  19. Not really. At the height of the X Division it was Styles, Daniels, Joe, Sabin, Shelley, Amazing Red, Williams... probably Will Ospreay from the UK though he is supposedly signing with NJPW. They have La Sombre. Zack Sabre probably. Some Evolve guys. Probably a couple of no name Indy guys just to make it seem like they left no stone unturned.
  20. Well, the GM of Arizona made recent comments (talked about on 1290 this morning) alluding to tanking last season. So I would say where there is a will, there is a way. Buffalo traded for Kane because it meant moving out good players and bringing back a player who was injured for the rest of the season. Teams do try to tank.
  21. The WWE has confirmed today the WWE Network exclusive cruiserweight show that we had been reporting about the past few weeks in the Observer. The show, entitled the Global Cruiserweight Series, will air on Wednesday nights at 9 p.m., following NXT. It will be a 32 man tournament of wrestlers who all have to be under 205 pounds, and will be taped at the NXT tapings. The first episode of the show will be on 7/13, and the championship match will air on 9/14. The winner of the tournament, which is expected to include a number of wrestlers who are not signed with the promotion, will obviously end up with the promotion and be billed as the best cruiserweight in wrestling. ***This might be why Danny Duggan got an NXT try out this past week although Im not sure he's under 205 (or how strict WWE is on that weight). If the desire is to truly bring in some really great unsigned "cruiser weights" to go with their own, I'd doubt Danny makes the cut. They are probably looking more to the high flyer style. Interesting concept though, especially for WWE.
  22. I know. I like to post his name because someone always explodes when I do. But realistically, you agree with him!
  23. That's not entirely clear. Their doctor Maroon, has never been a supporter of CTE and concussion research. He's probably the most likely doctor to clear someone for returning after a head injury. Every doctor Bryan saw and every test he did were by proven and credible docs. Its entirely possible Vince did the right thing but for the wrong reasons. Its more likely that at a time when concussions and CTE is front and centre and WWE is dealing with a lawsuit of their own, that they were creating an example of someone where they could show how cautious they are in the case of brain injuries. The fact there was talk that Bryan asked for his release and was denied adds fuel to this. Also, there was speculation that WWE made it clear they would invoke their injury clause in his contract whereby they could add the time he spent hurt to the end of his deal and effectively keep him under contract forever. Bryan could sue and he would win but it would be timely and costly. Its entirely possible (and this is the belief) that Bryan had that final test and it caused him to accept that he cannot wrestle again. However, if he does want to wrestle again or even have that as a possibility, then "retiring" is really his only option. It freezes WWE's "injury clause". He would not be able to wrestle anywhere for the length of his remaining WWE contract but at that time, he would be able to wrestle anywhere he wanted. If he remained non-retired and "hurt", he would not be able to get out of his deal.
