  1. Some will tell you if the CFL didnt expand when it did, there would be no CFL right now. Remember that Vince McMahon offered to buy the entire league!
  2. Floyd I agree about the Pens. Maybe its because Im a fan so I focus on them, but Ladd seems right up their alley as far as a player they'd bring in at the deadline. The only problem is, what do they have to offer?
  3. That's true and some guys can switch without problem. But it IS a thing to many players and many coaches want the LHD or the RHD depending on situation. It was used as the excuse as to why Bogo slumped when Trouba arrived (yeah yeah I know) because he was playing his off-side.
  4. If I recall, they traded three picks to get that pick. So they must like him. But would it be too much to say Bowey & Sanford & 1st Round pick? The Caps pick is going to be a low one. Taking their second is like taking a 3rd. If the Jets have already been offered a 1st and a prospect and Lawless thinks they might get a player too, then for a team not wanting to part with a decent roster player, we might be able to squeeze a 2nd decent prospect out of them.
  5. Not sure if this was mentioned yet and ofcourse I know nothing about US labor laws but technically drafts should be illegal but are allowed under US Anti-Trade laws because they are fairly negotiated within Collection Bargaining Agreements by labor lawyers. I wonder if the Ratio would be insurmountable in that regard of it it could be negotiated. Here's the thing, if there were 2 or 3 (or more) US markets that would be positive contributors to the CFL and played in front of large enthusiastic fans and accepted the rules of the CFL, would anyone still object? Im wondering its its an objection based on the idea it wont work and would hurt the league or the idea that it's a "Canadian" game and should remain as such?
  6. I recall and I read the recent book about US expansion. It had merit. Was just a gong show how they did it.
  7. I think the three options for Ladd are in this order of likelyhood: 1) Jets Re-Sign Ladd Shortly 2) Trade deadline passes without a new contract or a trade and Chevy says "we didnt get the offer we were looking for" (ie. Market collapsed) 3) Jets lose Ladd for nothing 4) Jets trade Ladd at or prior to the deadline. Just a feeling...
  8. Leafs are certainly doing it right. Stockpiling a ton of picks. They should be bad for a few years and end up with some really good picks. I could see them trying to package some picks to move up to and really try and maximize the top picks. Eventually the Leafs will be really good. Unless they blow their wad on Stamkos. And even then, they could sign Stamkos and still get a lot better.
  9. No, I believe its purposely not the same Batman. Which annoys me.
  10. Rich - you sort of bring up another point which was the choice of Affleck for an "older" Batman. A lot of the talk when Bale wasn't brought back was that they wanted an "older" Batman. Affleck is one year older than Bale. So TDK films are a Batman in his prime and this is an aged Batman? That's just silly. I realise their point was to cast a younger actor to play a 50 year old Batman with the idea of showing a 50 year old at peak physical condition but its hard to see him as "old" even with grey hair. I would have given Bale anything he wanted. And part of the reason why would be to keep the depth of the character and all that emotional baggage and history that comes with using a character we've seen for three films. But Im sure part of the issue was Bale wanting input and it sounds like Affleck was willing to take a deal where he's play nicely this time and then get his own film(s) to write/direct in the DC universe.
  11. Ideally they get Hamonic without losing any D. Trouba stays on the left side and you have Trouba, Enstrom, Morrisey as your LHD depth. And Buff, Myers, Hamonic as your RHD depth. Too much to ask? lol
  12. I hear O'reilly is out for awhile. Gonna be hard to finish below Buffalo and Toronto. And Edmonton still in last? A team could try really hard to be that bad and still not be that bad...with that talent? The Oilers should lose draft picks at this point.
  13. The biggest problem with the action/fight scenes in MoS was how they were filmed (created). The ultra fast video game look was so tiresome after two minutes, let alone half of an hour. I dont believe for one second that the destruction seen in MoS was done on purpose with an eye towards the sequel with respect to humanity feeling threatened by Superman. I think they did it the way they wanted and then there was backlash to how unreal and unorganic it was and they made up a reason after the fact. Because if it was the plan, you'd still be wise to slow the action down every so often to so the real result of the destruction on every day people. And instead there was barely any impact on anyone on an emotional level. My other concern... I think Ben Affleck can totally nail this. But every time I see a clip, I see Ben Affleck. Whereas when I saw clips of The Dark Knight films, I wasnt suddenly hit with "oh that's Christian Bale". Maybe its just me... Supposedly advanced screenings arent doing too well...
  14. Yeah it doesn't make sense. I think their feeling is he costs so much he has to be booked as a monster to justify his pay. But since it costs so much to book him they won't book him enough to warrant actually pushing him regularly. When he was champion it was justified because they were going to have Heyman on every raw talking about him. But then as soon as he won someone decided they shouldnt talk about him if he wasn't there. Which is silly.
  15. He's very good. It was a weird decision on New Japan's part not to have him drop the IC title to Kenny Omega. But Omega won it anyway. Also Omega and the Young Bucks won the NEVER Six Man championship. Hes a bit older and will be expects on RAW sooner rather than later but it's a good idea for him to get some time in NXT to learn the WWE culture
  16. Warrior was a flop as champion. And he demanded hogan money and schedule. The issue over rights was basically Warrior felt he invented the character and Vince felt otherwise but they settled it by warrior coming back and in return getting to market his name. Warrior was hot that wwe used one of his catch phrases. But warrior also no showed some shows. But undeniably warrior demanded more money than he was worth. He was also a bigot but since the mainstream didn't cover it to any great degree it went under radar. As for tonight... Goodness tjat main event was a microcosm for what's wrong with wwe. Fans are telling you what they want. Brock is the #1 face that WWE tries to turn heel repeatedly and he never works. They have rejected roman for over a year and they love Ambrose. So roman wins. But Brock is the strongest in the match. Moronic. Unless its going to be Roman vs Hunter vs Brock.
  17. Chicago has their first? Which team doesn't, LA?
  18. Well Warrior did hold him up for money. And was a flop even with a mega push.
  19. Following the trade that sent Shawn Matthias to the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday afternoon, the organization was left with a whopping 12 selections in 2016: Two firsts, a second, two thirds, two fourths, two fifths, two sixths and a seventh.
  20. Yes. They were very freindly even after he left. Vince would Attack hogan but defend Savage. They even negotiated for a return about a year later. But then something happened and the widely held belief is Vince found out that Randy and Steph had hooked up some years earlier when she was 17/18. WWE even hinted at this on their Savage DVD.
  21. He's a strange one. He can bery spiteful but will generally work with anyone tjay can make him money. Hunter actually seems to hold a grudge more than Vince. Vince tried to make up with Punk and Hunter was kept out of the loop. But when the decision was made to end things vince had Hunter send over the release papers on Punks wedding day. i don't think Vince is being spiteful with Angle. I think he really dears the ramifications of Angle died on their watch. It would be the biggest thing ever. The only big star Vince has ever seen genuinely spiteful towards Is Randy Savage and that seems to do with the rumors about Savage and Steph.
  22. I don't believe for a second the jets planned to tanks this year. They did make some decisions with rookies but I suspect their thought process was to play rookies and give them time and maybe it works and worse case scenario they get key development time and the team continues to get good picks for the future
  23. Hard to commit that kind of money to a guy because he's playing better the last few games while the jets still lose. Will Ladd's legacy as captain be that he tried really hard every night and the jets never won a thing?
  24. this might indicate that Gary is hearing something to this effect. But I think that's too much.
