  1. The only upside with Walters is that he's the head cheese now, maybe players will respond differently to him than dead man walking. From a coaching stand point though, this does nothing to improve evaluating players as some are suggesting that get rid of Burke would accomplish.

Based on what we've seen so far this year, I don't think there's anything this group would respond to. Other than a few vets who act like pros (Edwards, Simpson, January, A.Hall...) every single one of them has played as uninspiring as I've ever seen.

Not sure I saw Lewis' comments mentioned on here, but he's absolutely right. This team mailed it in weeks ago.

We're damned if we do, damned if we don't. But, as next year is priority #1, I wouldn't can Burke and bring in someone who's just going to be replaced at years end anyway. Unless Marcel wants the gig in the interim, all the power to him.

  2. When considering a vet that might be available, I have a short list....all are really stop gap, not long term solutions.

    Free Agents:

    Porter

    Jyles

    McPherson

    Jackson (Jarious)

    Brink

    Available by trade (speculative)

    Elliot

    Joseph

    Glenn

    My guess would be Jyles.

No way in hell Glenn is going to get traded by Calgary... not a chance. Me thinks Tate would be more likely purely because they don't want his injury issues.

How can everyone keep forgetting about Cleo Lemon? He's available, as well as Coach Bart Andrus.

Well hey, that Argo team was better than our current "team".

  3. By that logic, when Glenn was playing poorly and run out of town, he should have retired and never been seen or heard from again.  Good thing for him that didnt happen.

Not sure why you're trying to prove your clearly flawed opinion by comparing Buck to KG. Glenn averaged 22 TD's and 3900 yds per year from '05-'08.  Buck has thrown 25 TDs and about 6000 yds in his entire Bomber career!!!

Yeah, we were probably dumb dumping Glenn when we did, but suggesting we're about to make the same mistake with Buck is laughable.

  4. I really like anything Kona brand (Hawaii). http://konabrewingco.com/

Leffe is super good, best part of the Belgian pavilion every year at Folklorama.

My go to beer when out and about here in the city is a St.James Pale Ale.  At home, I usually just buy "the norms" from the vendor.... Bud, Kokanee, Lucky (if payday hasn't arrived) or a Moosehead for something different.

Lately, I've been drinking a lot of Rolling Rock too...

MMMMMM BEEEEEEEEER. (this is a lot more fun that discussing the depressing Bombers...)

  5. I could grab stats that show Setven Jyles is better than both of them.  Not that this isn't a well presented argument here because it is.

Truth, they both suck.  And so does most of what's around them in a chicken and egg sort of way.

These stats underscore to me that Walters or whoever replaces him will eventually overpay for one of Collaras, Mitchell, Tate or Willy.  And I'm ok with that.

So, Goltz "sucks" because....? Have you really seen enough to make that decision? And, more importantly, should our staff feel comfortable that after the playing time he's been given (against the quality of opponents those chances have come against) they're ready to make that call?

I'm not necessarily a pro-Goltz guy. I don't mind him behind Hall on the depth chart. What I am passionately against is this team continuing to go to the well with Buck at the helm despite overwhelming data that he, at very best, is marginally better than a couple guys who are still green in this league. And that is being kind, given that I neglect to mention Buck can't stay healthy.

  6. What should be most alarming about the OP's stats IMO is that those are Goltz's FIRST 2 STARTS IN THE LEAGUE! Whereas Buck is an established veteran. His numbers should be FAR better than what Justin did, or at least marginally better to justify starting a injury riddled 31 yr old over an up and coming 26 yr old. The fact that the numbers favour Justin, or are too close to call definitively, SCREAMS that Buck shouldn't be ahead on the depth chart.

  7. How people can still support Buck is beyond me. Absolutely no reason to go to him at all anymore. Best chance to win? That's bull crap. Or bill rap as autocorrect suggested.

As for Garrett, too bad he didn't get a shot. Simpson hasn't been overly impressive, but then again, behind that oline I'm not sure Barry Sanders would look that good.

  8. I'd love nothing more than a win at IGF, don't get me wrong. But if that win comes from a Buck Pierce-led 2nd half charge, then I'll be nervous. Just think with Miller's comments on winning now and playoffs, and the fact that Buck got bumped up one slot, they are just waiting to put him in. Hoping, no praying, I'm wrong and they stick with Hall or Goltz.

  9. I like Bovine Mitchell, and Collaros, Willy etc.  The thing is, those guys come from teams with stellar offensive systems and coaches.  Put any one of 'em (obvs Ray excluded) in our current system/scheme and I doubt you'd see much better than what we've witnessed in '13.

That whole Cgy game I couldn't help but wonder what Goltz would look like behind that line, tossing to Lewis and co. with plays Dickenson drew up...

  10. The last two years he has done kickoffs (2010, 2012) he was at the bottom of the league for kickoff average.

    Yes, below Palardy.

No....! Really?!  Then what on earth is the point?! Palardy's game is easy for even a novice fan: accurate, but not a strong leg. Give him FG's inside the 40 and he's money. Field position seems to be a big problem this year. If Sandro's no better for distance, than WTF. Also, I hear Sandro is quite the teammate.....not.

Head scratcher #287324890723 in recent Bomber memory...

  11. I was a Mack supporter for some time - right up until this offseason, actually. When we decided to stick with Buck as #1 going into this year I smelt trouble.

I had to vote the futility option. Bottom line, as the cliche goes, this is a results-driven job. 21-39 over his tenure is downright brutal, even worse when you take away the 2 great months of football in 2011...where many thought we were playing above our heads.
