  1. I'd prefer a GM with previous experience which really leaves Higgins, Tillman or Roy Shivers. Tillman is a pervert, Shivers is more scout than GM imo, leaves Higgins.
  2. Didn't impress in preseason but neither did Dunn or Wild and both have looked solid in actual games.
  3. I had the chance to met Buck in 2010 when I won one of the locker room draws to pick up season tickets. Buck was a friendly, classy guy. Always liked him as a person since he's been there and liked him as a QB till it was clear his body had betrayed him. However his comments in this situation bother me and take some of my respect for him away.
  4. Buck was too injury prone. As Mike's post illustrated, he hasn't been successful statswise. Pretty sure the 13-3 stat is off as wasn't reported as 13-5 before this year? Still 13-3 not counting this year is 5 games a year your QB starts and finishes, that alone is enough to cut the cord.
  5. That is my thinking, AC looks like age has caught up with him and the OL has struggled and they've already lost Flory.
  6. I can see the following happening during August: 1. JJ is cut before Labour Day due to poor play and to save money on the SMS. 2. Swiston replace Morley on the offensive line. 3. If healthy, Douglas replaces Boatman on the offensive line leading to #4. 4. Shannon Boatman cut. 5. Receiver (likely Dennmark) is let go.
  7. If Buck can't accept being third string/emergency QB/QB coach, find a third QB (heck Alex Brink) and bring in a guy like Marcus Crandell or Damon Allen.
  8. I really hope its a misunderstanding with Buck. 1. Because you would hope it would be communicated better. 2. Its a good transistion for him. His playing days are done, this is a nice start to a post football career. As for him not being suited to be a QB Coach based on his play, Jarious Jackson and Marcus Brady are a QB coach and an OC respectively and Buck has had a better career than both. Milanovich was an excellent OC and is a pretty good coach and he was a 3rd string CFLer.
  9. Thing is, can Montreal get better? Maybe this is the year age catches them?
  10. I am pumped for this. As others have said, wish this had been done in the off-season but I like it. I hope they develop an offense around Goltz's abilities. Like that we have an QB coach and hey somebody on the coaching staff who's played QB in the CFL. Oh and props to the Slapshot references.
  11. Popp wasn't a good coach in 07 but yeah likely helps the Als as they go back to Trestman's offense.
  12. I think its a mix of natural ability and coaching but if you look at Mitchell and Colarros, look at who they have coaching them. Then think about our QBs with no QB coach/former CFL QB on staff.
  13. When did Bender ever show any knowledge. Last year none of the Sun's writer knew an Aussie was a NI. To the QB development topic, its clear you need a QB coach and to develop an OL etc.
  14. Burke has said some vets jobs are on the line, so when do we see changes and who? Do we see any on offense? Personally, I'd sub in Swiston for Morley and Simmons in for Boatman. Maybe Miles for Anderson.
  15. I hadn't seen that. Thanks, that makes more sense.
  16. I do wonder if its an excuse to audition Hall. Who replace Jovon? Seriously with Dunn and McGee hurt and Washington playing NB, who is left, Pendleton? Why don't we have a 4th QB on the roster?
  17. Pierce is not helping out Goltz like for example. Dave Dickenson did during his last stop in Calgary.
  18. Does Ottawa draft QBs first and then players? I seem to recall if a QB is taken that team can protect 2 more NIs. If that is the case, which QB does Ottawa take? Would you rather take Drew Wiley or get a shot at a Chris Best or Ricky Foley?
  19. I think Mitchell we be a good starter. I like Goltz's potential, really think he just needs reps. Not sure on Drew Wiley.
  20. Agree that 2001 wasn't a fluke, 2000 we started about 1-6 or so and then we about 5/4 or or 6/3 in the second half and beat Hamilton in the playoffs. Good teams for the next three years. Also agree losing Dunn and Parker has hurt the D, although Wild seems to be decent and developing.
  21. They might be ok this year, attendancewise. I've read they need 31000 people per game. With the attendance so far, we need to pull about 30,000 for the remaining 6. I think they can do it (since the stadium is new). Next year though, yikes.
  22. They sold parking passes at twice the rate, so they do make money from parking, JBR. LaPo's deal is only paid for this year, so you fire Burke in the off-season, you're only paying him. It was only $4 million they needed to pay off per year. I believe its doable (paying for a quality coach).
  23. How much of Burke's deal is guaranteed. I know it was a 3 year deal (13,14,15) but Lapo's was only 2 year's guaranteed so is Burke's the same? Would mean only paying Mack and Burke for 2014. Fire them and pay the money for quality people. We have a new stadium which gives us higher attendance on higher prices, I'll assume concessions are giving us more, more on parking, naming rights etc.
