I don't know how many of the anti-socer people watched the last Olympics but the Canadian women were phenomenal. They play a very tough, physical brand and did this country proud . It's training camp , and the up to 3000 people will have to give way to a packed, world event taking place in our city.Socer is the most popular sport in the world and in Canada. Set aside your aversions to a sport you just don't understand or is not your cup of tea and support the fact that Winnipeg scooped this major event.

Experience doesn't come in 5-10 games. Do the Bombers wait it out and continue to pay willy 400k next season if he is progressing slowly this year? My worry has been that over paying willy before he is a proven commodity may force us to cut him due to Salary concerns vs letting him grow more at a lower wage.Regardless I'm not upset we signed him long term, I'm just hoping his wage doesn't force him to be cut if he plays at a Kevin Glenn + level year year or next. Which, to me, is still a large win since we haven't had a consistent (maybe) since Glenn

The $100k was actually offered in Booster Juice coupons, which is really better than cash because no one gets a discount at Booster Juice. Trust me.

Not sure that makes sense.  $100K signing bonus is all cap hit and Walters said that the cap hit this year wouldn't be all that different.  I'd guess they converted a lot of bonuses into base salary and gave him a smaller signing bonus than $100K, but it's all conjecture at this point.

I don't know about Mike. But I WAS right. When this whole kerfuffle started, I said it would be resolved before TC and that everyone who was panicking was overreacting. So.....HA!

I've agreed with most of the Bombers changes this year.  Only 2 that I disagree with so far...  Willy getting north of $400K and keeping MB as OC.  Your shtick seems to be remembering things that didn't happen then complaining about them.

Lots of folks think whatever the Bombers do is right.  I disagree with something the Bombers did.  Not the first time.  Won't be the last time.  I still hope it works out. 
 
That being said, do you think that Willy's worth more than the rest of the young QB's in the league?

I'm a spend to the cap and maybe a bit over if something terrible happens type of guy.  No doubt in my mind that's the right way to go.  That being said, I'm not a give em money they haven't earned type of guy or a pay them more than our competition pays for similar/better players type of guy and that's what this discussion is all about IMHO. 
 
Overpaying players is no way to get good value for your money and it means you have to to with cheaper players at other positions. 150K could mean signing 6 players at 25K upgrades.  By that I mean 6 players who get 25K more than the league average for their position or 6 top tier players.  It means being able to outbid other teams for the top players when they come available.  Not just in FA, but also at NFL cut time.
 
Beer revenue is a red herring.  It will go up when we win, down when we lose.  It's not about Willy getting a raise.  It's about the wins.
 
If Willy was a top tier QB, then sure, he'd be worth the extra bucks even though it means scrimping elsewhere because QB is the most important position on the field.
 
The only potential downside to not extending Willy now is that we might have to pay him more next year if he has a good to great year.  In return, we'd get great value for our money this year and we'd save the 150K that we could use towards his next contract if we have to.

So far there is only some evidence that willy is better then any QB we've had here since 2008. We haven't won more then 7 games since 2008(I think). Soooo. I dunno. Over paying for an average Qb so that we don't possibly lose him but might have to cut if his salary is too high if he is only and average qb ( which is still better then we've had).
Give him boost in base pay and then back fill with incentives. If meeting completion %, TDs,int, yard,wins, goals he gets a bonus and maxes out at 400-500k great. Little risk and great rewards. Less reward for willy, but if he believes he is an elite qb and will have a great couple of years then it's a win for him.
You don't pay 120k for a crown Victoria hoping or believing it's going to transform into a jaguar becuase u upgrade the rims, tires and intake (ol, receivers, coaching)
