Why is there is any confusion about the desperation of the CFL? OF COURSE THEY'RE DESPERATE!!! Does anyone think they would be doing this under circumstances where the league was financially stable? Brown always knows how to say the obvious while making it seem like he's saying something profound.

71 of the new cases are in the North...damn.

There is no cap right now.

That a few days of increase now isn't? Don't like that!

Did he get the virus? Is he still alive? If so...does that not make him a survivor?

Free agent Also...maybe TSN is shitty to work for? Seems like we've had an example of that recently...not wanting to work for TSN doesn't mean he didn't want to cover the CFL.

It's been said dozens of times already. If people want to keep fearing the numbers i say let them.

That's just what Pat does. He's a talking head that wants views. I enjoy a lot of his content but he says a lot of stupid **** and he holds very little influence.

Impossible! This is all Ambrosie!! No one else!!

Yeah the Canadian Ratio won't work...but a Ratio of some kind absolutely could. I don't think the Global players one would as that is basically the same as a Canadian one...it doesn't avoid the issue of taking away "american jobs". So a local college/state etc makes the most sense. Like has been mentioned the Ratio doesn't have to be "canadian". But also, I really should cancel my cable. That's crazy cheap compared to what I'm paying to watch like 3 channels.

Well said. It's like you took the words right out of my mouth. I honestly didn't know we have so many people on this forum who have deep knowledge of the pocket books of this league. And know exactly what the future holds for things like the global players etc. TV deals are definitely never going to come from that stuff....We've had commish after commish try to grow the league here and they've all failed. Everyone of them. Which why the league is in the state it is now. But I suppose that's Ambrosies fault too? Trying new things isn't bad, if you never try you'll never know. On top of that. The commish is not and never has been a dictator. The board of governors aren't just place holders. They absolutely have a say. But that fact never seems to hit home for people. My biggest fault with Ambrosie is how he's handled the CFLPA. That baffles me. Everything else is him taking a shot to change the revenue streams for the league which (as we're seeing now) has been desperately needed for some time.

I listened to Wade on 680. And he honestly made me feel better lol. Said nothing from this is going to impact this year. Reassured that the league is aware of the tradition of the CFL (though he didn't say they would 100% not be changing rules etc). https://globalnews.ca/news/7688348/cfl-xfl-talks-winnipeg-blue-bombers-reaction/

Just when you think the CFLPA and league are improving their relationship...BUUT then again, maybe that's a good sign that this won't impact the players significantly.

I did see someone speculate that it could a buy out from a parent company...not sure exactly what that means...
-
I see a lot of people on social media saying that you can play both sets of rules dependent on the home team. That won't work for multiple reasons. Could you imagine the playbook if a team had to be ready for NFL style and CFL style football lol.

I'm all for exploring ways to expand the CFL market to help it survive, which is why I'm a fan of the global players etc. But like others have said, the XFL is a failed product 2 times over. They have some power behind it now with The Rock. But honestly I don't see him being any different then Vince was. I don't believe the problem is the product (though that was an issue) it's that there is no interest in another pro league in america. The bodies of multi failed leagues prove it.
-
Well that's just it. You don't save something you kill. If the CFL is 4 downs...it's not the CFL. Difference is, the last CFL (Emphasis on CFL) expansion I was a child. So no. IF (obviously big if at this point) this is the end of 3 down football I will stop my season tickets. I'm not going to pay what I pay now for a game I'm not going to enjoy watching. That doesn't mean I won't take in a game here or there, but I will not be a season ticket holder.
-
If that's the case, so are my season tickets.

Ambrosie took a league that was failing financially as well. Relying on 2 main revenue streams is a disaster waiting to happen for any business model. That wasn't his doing. Again the lack of exploring options inside Canada and forcing competition for your product should have started decades ago. The struggles they're facing today, didn't start when Ambrosie took over. That's simplifying a larger problem. god damn it. This better not be another expansion into the States.
-
Single handedly is a bit of stretch. The CFLs model and lack of initiatives to address the declining fan base has been going on for much longer then ambrosie has been around. This (if anything comes of it) is bordering on inevitable at this point (Covid being a huge factor as well). I'm not saying Ambrosie doesn't have his share of ******* things up, but IF the CFL faulters, it won't be all on him.

A) **** the riders B ) they had their fair share of lucky brakes last year. Including but not limited to being gifted a W after 1 half of football. Without that W they aren't in 1st. Give them all the credit you want, but that 1 win had a big impact on the rest of their year.

I have not and likely will never vote for a liberal in a federal election as long as trust fund is in charge. But The Harper government (Remember thats what he called the gov of Canada while he was in power) was far worse. One of the worst, but also smartest things he did was getting Canada into FIPA with China. By forcing this on Canadians, he also forced it upon those in charge. The good and the bad. It's hilarious to me when I see PC ads talking about how Justin "sold Canada to China" lol. It's horrible in a very smart way.

With all due respect, that's complete bullshit. If that was a reason, it'd be extremely easy for every team to show that the vast majority of its workforce, players included are Canadian. Nevermind the staff at Stadiums. Or the television crew from TSN and radio personnel from each team. On top of that, they've already given money to American companies who have laid Canadians off. That theory just doesn't hold any water.
