Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
Brandon replied to Atomic's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Football fans are aging out of the CFL big time. For Canada the white population which makes up a large majority of the CFL audience are just no longer having kids and families at all. As each generation goes by that rate keeps dropping at a significant rate. Canada has replaced the drop in population via immigration and those folks have absolutely zero interest in Canadian football. 30 years ago when I was a kid the parks were full of kids playing soccer/football and the streets had tonnes of kids playing street hockey. Nowdays they are almost all empty with exception of the East Indian community who are the only ones in my area that utilize the parks and those kids are playing soccer mainly. I'm not sure how you can grow the football game to folks with zero nostalgia or awareness of it. This is why I think Miller has done a great job of making a Blue Bomber home game a fun event. It's an event that can appeal for all ages and the football game is the icing on the cake. I don't believe the invention of an IPad has destroyed interest in the CFL. -
I don't think anyone thinks the OC is a genius. Does anyone on these boards even remotely respect or think positively at all about Hogan?

I can't imagine it being anything outside of maybe some kind of streaming deal , gambling deal, NFL deal where the ratio changes, something of interest but nothing that would completely overshadow the Grey Cup. -
I'm guessing the reason they are doing better is because of stability in the coaching and the ability to bring in guys who can play or make the changes they need. I may be wrong but isn't Tre Ford healthy and able to play? The coaches gave him a shot and then transitioned to Fajardo when it wasn't working out.

Dolegala and Patterson right now are an improvement over a guy who could only complete 3 passes in 4 quarters. No questions about it. Those 2 guys also have had more success in the CFL (see my post about throwing for more then 250 yards). Look I was among the top Streveler fans, I used him as my avatar and pumped his tires and proclaimed that how could a guy stick in the NFL for a few years if he was a bum. I was more then willing to hand the guys the keys and let him take over. He's had his chances this season and is trending downwards and simply hasn't shown anything at all. This reminds me of me crapping on Nichols a few years back when a couple of people on these boards INSISTED that the guy wasn't shot and that we are to blame the coaches and everyone else. It's time to move on and try someone else it's not working at all. It's the CFL you CAN bring a QB in and have them at least give you a shot at winning (see Dolegala/Patterson putting up 250 yards on a terrible Saskatchewan team). Wilson may also be a "jobber", but he hasn't been given a chance AT all. Why in the hell would the coaches not give the 3rd quarter to Wilson to see if maybe he can spark the O? At this point we've had numerous games where he should of been put into the game to at least give a change of pace or a different look to see if it would do anything at all. All of our faults this season has been a clear definition of insanity and it's frustrating as a fan that they havn't even tried to make a change for the better. It's like they are looking at 2019 and trying to milk the ever lasting last bit of juice from it. It's bizarre.

And Edmonton has been way more competitive this season as compared to the previous few years. TBurgess is correct in saying they are close to being a winning team.
-
"We won because we prevented Terry Wilson from seeing the field and possibly throwing more then 9 passes. " - Noeller & 17to85
-
I would assume that the % chance of us winning games with him throwing very little would be well below 50%. Throwing only 3 completions has to be something ridiculously low like 10%....
-
They've played hard for most of the season, they are trending in the right direction that is for sure.
-
Fun stat.... Streveler in his career with the Blue has only 2 games with more then 250 yards. Jake Dolegala in one season with the riders had 5 games with more then 250 yards , the next season Shea Patterson with the Riders had 4 games himself with over 250 yards. We cut two of those guys and kept the wrong one.

Yes because Strev and his 3 completions was such a major factor in why they won tonight. Wilson is healthier and at this point a much better runner then Strev. So nothing to lose and everything to gain. Not a single highlight of Strev making a completion.... just highlights of him holding onto the ball getting sacked, running up the gut, throwing a death pass , and a singular good running play. Insanity that they didn't give Wilson at least 2 series to see if he could do anything at all. Veteran qb with proven track records get pulled for playing much better then what Strev did... I'm 100% ready for them to clean house with the O and get rid of O'Shea. I'm ok with Younger and keeping Walters to see if O'Shea was the issue.
-
Hogan needs to go no questions about it. But even in our darkest days when Mike Kelly attempted to run his outdated bizarre scheme.... those qbs still managed to make more then 3 completions. It is time to clean house and make big changes.
-
So can they fire Hogan today or do they need to wait until Sunday?
-
I'll take one loss with massive changes (I.e. fire Hogan, playing Wilson, bringing in new guys for both lines) over saying 'F everyone else' and no changes after a terrible win.
-
I have not watch the game and most likely will not. If I do watch this game am I going to come away with Strev being let down for the reason for our worst passing attack basically ever? Worse then the Boltus days?
-
What are the % chances that they roll with Wilson ?
-
I'm out and about... is the cfl stats page correct in saying that we have only 11 yards passing at half time and somehow are still winning? WTF am I missing?
-
Does anyone have the stats/numbers which breakdown how many points/yards our offense has gained per quarter this season? I'm curious to see if quarter 3 + 4 is much different from the first half of the game.
-
I think they were giving away free pancakes for the first day... I would avoid that area like the plague if that is the case. Elmwood + T-Cona goes nuts whenever any places offer anything free.

For a brief time in Edmonton he was looked upon as a potential starter for them when Cornelius was crapping the bed. Also he was given real play time in his first month in the league with 2 - 3 games.... Wilson 3 years in has been given zero game time. -
Is this the last chance for Strev to prove that he can be a starter in the league?
-
As a die hard UFC fan who has watched nearly every event since the first one... I've yet to pay for a single card. It's very easy to stream anything these days. It's unfortunate that it has to be done that way though.

Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

1 - 90% of this happening, I don't see how they can bring the guy back for a 2nd season in a row. 2 - 50% of this happening. I'd really like to see Wilson be given some real game time to see what we have in him. Throwing him 4 minutes left in a game wont' cut it. Having him play the 3rd quarter last week would of been the smart thing to do. 3 - I'd imagine this year they almost have to sign a few guys. I'm assuming Bryant will retire and they'll have to fill some holes. It would be extremely disappointing if they don't add at least 3 starters. 4 - New GM 25% chance.... new HC I'd say 15% chance. O'Shea has a massive leash. It is disappointing though that for this and last season they almost seem paralyzed at the idea of changes. During our prime years with these guys they had the ability to find multiple guys (mainly on D) who could step in and play right away. Nowdays it feels like they have nothing in the cupboards. No "potential" on the bench who just needs a few more weeks of practice to catch up. Absolutely nothing. 5 - The game day experience continues to be top tier and I don't imagine much of a reduction of fan support at the home games. 6 - I'd say 66% chance of happening... if they make zero changes next season then 2027 will be clean house time. -
The guy is (was) a legend for childrens books. I remember reading them with my parents when I was really young and then doing the same with my kids when they were smaller. His works are timeless.
