Ottawa just got Brown to take a reduced contract (which wasn't that high to begin with)so they can go hard in FA - pretty sure they aren't wanting to pick up the huge contract that Zach or Kelly would bring.

This is the thing for me with an American draft and (imo) one of the reasons why there is so much turn over on the neg lists. If these guys get drafted and then say no thanks to playing in the CFL, what was the point of drafting them? As it is now, if the team holding neg list rights gets told the player has zero interest in the CFL, they can just drop him and add someone else.

He played 2 years with us and 3 with Hamilton so he falls just outside that 4 year period (we signed him in April 2021).

Not necessarily. After he signed his new deal, BLM said it may be a 2 year deal but he's still evaluating things yearly & could very well call it quits after this season. He just has a bit of security knowing he has a contract for 2027 should he decide to continue.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers make Evan Holm CFL's highest-paid American DB - 3DownNation $180,000 in hard money in 2026 with up to $6k in bonuses. in 2027, he gets $185,000 in hard money with $55,000 being guaranteed.

Nope, they can only vote/comment on their current team.

Was it not Patterson? I thought he was here for 5 years so 2021 would have been his 1st year with us.

Demski for sure but Clercius? He's been a bit nicked up at times but hasn't missed a game AFAIK?

Personally I wouldn't be as critical hiring any existing coach but sitting through a season with an unqualified OC is currently affecting my opinion on inexperienced coaches. If Thomas had retired and coached at a lower level for a season or two before getting the position, i would have zero issues with it but I also can appreciate that a DL coach is nowhere near as impactful as an OC so it's not an apples to apples comparison.

You sure about that one? 🤣

It wasn't about Holm specifically but the combination of bigger paydays to Holm, Kramdi & Nichols.

The part about it being a bad allocation of cash could still be correct. Need to see some details first though.

He's already on it! Canadian receiver Damien Alford signs with New Orleans Saints: sources - 3DownNation Saints offer must have been pretty good because he turned down 4 other NFL tryouts.

"Barker has consistently worked as a panellist for TSN between CFL jobs, but that opportunity disappeared shortly before the 2025 season began. There was a shake-up at the network that resulted in multiple changes to the programming, including new graphics, music, special guest panellists, and the removal of some longtime analysts. “(TSN producers) Chris Edwards and Arden (Doidge-Flynn) came in and they didn’t think I was what the station needed,” said Barker. https://3downnation.com/2025/12/23/jim-barker-thrilled-to-be-with-toronto-argonauts-after-fearing-cfl-career-was-over/

Saving the best for last!

That just made my day! A nice late Christmas present from Walters!

I heard he crushed the football tire toss game at the Wisconsin State Fair.

Pretty surprised by this, tbh. https://3downnation.com/2025/12/30/pittsburgh-steelers-work-out-all-cfl-defensive-back-evan-holm/

Arguably Hamilton (at least for the time being) with Taylor Powell. Similar to our situation with Zach and Dru, Powell may need to leave to get a shot at starting because BLM keeps extending his career.

Also writes for 3dn. Says he's originally from Regina but I guess he moved away very young because literacy is not their strong suit. https://3downnation.com/author/cwiles/
