If they were actively trying to bring in replacements to overcome the injuries, I might buy that excuse but they aren't doing that. There just doesn't seem to be a willingness to change anything, injuries or not.

Yep, Montreal could have suspended him on their own, pending the results of the appeal. The CFLPA could have (possibly) declined to file an appeal as well although their argument seems to be that while the no betting policy was known, the potential penalties were not so the league should have done a better job explaining things.

The CFLPA filed the grievance on Lemon's behalf & appeals are determined by an independent arbitrator. Dave Naylor had said the hearing looked to be set for the first week of July so there should be a resolution soon.

I'm not a Randy fan but this is completely out of his control. His been pretty clear about his stance on this - he wants Lemon out but it's up to an independent arbitrator now.

3DN has Lawler at a base salary of 115k (would save us roughly 38k over 6 games) and Schoen at a base of 76k for the season. The rest is signing, housing, travel or non-football bonuses for those guys. DT mentioned on the pre-game show the other day that the cap savings might not be as big as people think. If a good chunk of their pay was paid out as a bonus, it still counts against the cap so the 6 game savings doesn't end up being all that significant. Still you would think that with all these guys going down, they'd have some money to play with now.

100% he did. He recently acknowledged that his current off-season routine is too much and he's going to tone it down going forward.

Ritchie did say something to that effect (not sure the exact wording) but ironic part is that it was his holding onto vets too long that cost him wins and ultimately his job. Rookies have to get playing time at some point. I'd rather it be now, early in the season, then later on in the season (or in the play-offs). I do expect Adams to target Bonds/Bridges early & often - we'll see if they're up to the task. They did have some communication issues when Bridges got thrown into the Ottawa game after Nichols went down so hopefully they worked on that with a full week of practice together.

Yeah their roster is not as good as it was the last couple years - partially due to injury like us. Their receiving core isn't what it was, the DL took a hit and their OL is beat up (and not great to begin with). I feel more hopeful about this game after looking at their depth chart.

It's not just perceiving talent either, GM's up here also have to try to gauge potential NFL interest. No other league has to draft the "best of the rest" first after watching the top talent get poached so a CFL mock is really pretty useless except for starting conversation.
