  1. We probably missed the boat on this. I feel like the could have been a deal to be had earlier... 😂 Walters: How about we swap your 1st overall pick for Damian Jackson, straight up. Jones: Not a chance! Walters: Do you know how many different positions you could convert him to? Jones: Jones: You got yourself a deal!
  2. The CFL would have to hold a special lottery draft for a guy like the Seal - way too special to be lumped in with the the average player!
  3. I'd be a lot less critical of these articles if they explained their rational a bit more - even if I don't agree with where they have a guy going, at least let me see the thought process behind it. I think it would be especially valuable for Hodge since he does multiple mocks and some of his picks change drastically. Like how does he have a guy like Straker going from being his projected 3rd overall pick to 20th? Or how does he have Kevens Clercius jumping up 12 spots from 23rd to 11th?
  4. Hodge has his 2nd mock up - has Dublanko first now which makes more sense. Still has us listed with a glaring need at FB though. Pete oops, I mean Hodge, also now has Ottawa taking a receiver with both of their first 2 picks. 😂 https://3downnation.com/2024/04/04/john-hodges-2024-cfl-mock-draft-2-0/
  5. They certainly could have a need there but their roster isn't really setup for needing a national receiver - they use the ratio elsewhere (at least they did last year). And if you're looking for immediate production out of a Canadian receiver, the draft probably isn't the best place to look. No matter who they draft, they still end up with only one NI receiver with more than 1 catch last year.
  6. Alright let's break down your 3 gripes about this mock then. 1) Ottawa is in need of a NI receiver but in a deep draft, do you reach and fill a position of need, knowing you can get a similar quality player later? Both mocks had the best available receiver going first so who's next and how far is the dropoff? What Edmonton does with the first pick could shape the way the first few rounds goes down. 2) Even Ferguson said he doesn't think Dublanco slides to 7th. He also had Lacrosse at 4 but says that's too early. Not sure why he put guys in spots he doesn't think they'll be picked in... It's kinda the whole point of the article? That's probably my biggest issue with his draft. 3) Didn't see you have the same angst for Hodge picking Straker at 3 as you do for Ferguson putting at 2? I get why both guys have him high though. Borderline NFL interest coupled with an underwhelming pro day means he will most likely be available for a team this season which is what you want from a high pick.
  7. So not a random incident as the screenshot would suggest - the two men knew each other and had been in a dispute prior to the attack. Still very violent and shocking though, not what you expect to see when you pop into BK for your morning coffee. https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/2024/04/03/suspect-sought-after-slashing-inside-burger-king
  8. Can we just refer to "Pete" as John H... no that's too obvious, let's say J. Hodge?

  10. Can't say anything about the Riders as that's the 1st I've ever heard about them chanting green (I have also never heard it when I have been to Mosaic) but it has nothing to do with the Jets. The blue chant predates the Jets 2.0 so not wanting their fans to have all the fun is incorrect. Fans have been doing this sort of thing for decades (see the KC Chiefs for example) so it's nothing new.
  11. I take back any negative comments I may have ever made about Taman and his Subway napkins because finding neg list prospects from the yokels on RF is a new low. Well done O'Day, I sincerely hope you get a lifetime contract as GM of the Riders!
  12. Who had to do that? Not hard to figure out if you know what bourgeoisie means.
  13. They're both french. Bougie in french is candle but in english, both spellings are used for the essentially the same slang (derived from the French word bourgeoisie).
  14. If the Ticats had any thoughts of mounting a comeback, those were put to rest real quick.
  15. Yep, only once officially but he was named as an alternate a few times as well so he definitely had a good run down there.
  16. Dead or living/playing in Regina. It's hell for those guys either way!
  17. Has to be a reason why he was available though. Teams usually have their coaching staff in place by this time of the off-season and the Stamps are no exception. The QB coach they hired in January bailed for a US college gig, otherwise we wouldn't even be talking about Baldwin. It's curious that he was without a job in January so if he's that good of a hire, how come they brought in someone else at that point? Obviously there are lots of factors that can go into that but I wonder what changed?
  18. Well he does work in Ottawa and they (Rough Riders) have drafted a dead player before so this does make some sense!
  19. Unless you are in your early 20's or under, you should remember the greatest fullback in Bomber history...
  20. The live feed on the CFL website showed they had plenty of room at the soccer facility. Didn't appear to be an issue at all.
  21. Yep and there are often reasons why a guy is available later in the draft (like NFL interest for example). Eli may have gone in the 4th round but he's not a 4th round guy, talent wise. If anyone else in the league had any idea that he was interested in playing ball again, he would have gone way higher than he did.
  22. Is it still driving up the price when he signed here for much less than what they offered? Maybe to an extent but he was still in line for a big bump. I guess we'll never know what he could have signed for if not for teams like the Lions. Also way to pat yourselves on the back guys. You made the 2nd highest contract offer (Hamilton offered more per year - $275k vs BC's 250ish) so if anyone was driving up the price, it was the Ticats.
  23. The family believes so. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/chris-simons-family-cites-cte-struggles-in-statement/
