CFL - 2024 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
bigg jay replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If Rigmaiden gets bumped to full GM, it might not only be Campbell out but Neil McEvoy as well. That would be their HC, 2 co-GM's & Director of Football Ops out the door. Got to imagine they'll be in cap hell for both the staff and players if they go that route - not that Doman has shown any regard for salary caps. If they don't want to take the office cap hit, they could just remove Campbell as co-GM & elevate Rigmaiden to that role. They could keep Campbell as HC for another year (contract is done after 2025 iirc), McEvoy would stay where he is. Changes coming for sure after going all in & failing to get to a home Grey Cup and changes that will impact the players (VAJ in particular) and where they go so it'll be interesting to see how it all shakes down. -
Ticket link the bombers have up says it's part of the Grey Cup Festival at the convention center. https://www.bluebombers.com/111th-grey-cup-guide/

CFL - 2024 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

Heard he already has a house there. -
I had to think who their RB even was before remembering it was Carey. Once upon a time you may have been able to make that argument but not now. 18 games played behind that "superior" OL for Carey and he only got1060 yards vs 17 games for Brady and 1353 yards - it's not even a close comparison. Brady also beat him in receiving yards so how again do they have the edge?
-
Yet still the best broadcast Suitor ever did?
-
It's not even just one or two guys either - they all write stuff that is just dumb, contradictory or just plain hard to read. Seems to me that the CFL did in fact put out food for both the players and the media so what's the problem? https://3downnation.com/2024/11/13/the-good-the-bad-and-the-dumb-of-grey-cup-media-day/

I had to re-read that part a few times to see if I was missing something but nope, it was just terribly written. I'm still trying to figure out how Costanza, a RB coach for 1 season with us, would be a factor in him signing in Toronto. Or why New Jersey was relevant in any aspect whatsoever?
-
Just read that trash and my first thought was this is why people **** on 3DN.
-
Good point. I was thinking T.O. but wasn't sure if Harris qualified as incredibly talented (Maas either for that matter).
-
Must be talking about his time in Toronto when he was behind Ray and Harris. Don't recall any other time he was on a team with 2 incredibly talented QB's?
-
In Riderville, that's worthy of a raise. I hope to see him in Green again next season.
-
Yeah but when they get to game 19, they'll be asking where the hell that came from!

Faj is under contract for 2025. VAJ apparently wants some say in where he goes so I wonder if Campbell does that for him (Montreal did when they sent him to BC). Smart move would be to send him east but where does he go if Hamilton sticks with BLM? -
Hey Bryan, you still got your Bomber playbook right? Come on down! https://3downnation.com/2024/11/11/toronto-argonauts-bring-back-qb-bryan-scott-for-grey-cup/

Wins do factor in for me but I also look at the losses. If we got manhandled in those losses it'd be one thing, but 2 losses by a total of 5 points is another. We could/should easily be 4-0 and there would be no doubt. I won't even compare NFL teams with CFL teams. Yes both leagues have caps but they are significantly different. There's way less player movement in the NFL so you do see more dynasty-like teams (Chiefs & Pats for example). Just looking at the CFL, it's absolutely a dynasty, IMO, otherwise you wouldn't need to go back 45 plus years to find the last example of this kind of success.
-
To do what this team has done iover the past 5 years is absolutely worthy of being called a dynasty. It's unprecedented in the salary cap era and we've already set an all-time mark that will be extremely hard to beat. No team had ever been to 4 consecutive GC's with the same starting QB and now Zach is about to add his 5th.
-
It's supposed to be based on the regular season only but I hope their over-hyped asses miss out on all of them!
-
Kicking myself for missing week 5 but you snooze you lose.
-
Lots to pick from in this game. The offense and defense both brought their A game tonight. 1) Zach - he had been (deservedly) criticized for his post-season play over the last few seasons but was lights out tonight. 2) Holm - he hadn't looked as good this year as he did last year but had his best game of the season. 3) Kramdi - like Holm, he was a man on a mission tonight and made multiple big plays. HH - Lawler for making a fool of the Riders "all-star" secondary.
-
Can somebody remind me how many all stars the Riders had again?
-
Yep, we lose and he's not on the active roster or IR, then he's a FA. I'd expect to see a lot of these moves for guys they want to keep around.

Especially when Ambrosie had pretty much said that 2019 would be the last time they host one at McMahon. -
They had Woods (as well as BA & Wilson) listed as questionable so I'm just saying it's not a suprise. He went out twice in the last game. Clearly the D-Line is not our focus this game (god knows why - it needs all the help it can get) so I guess they felt it wasn't worth rostering him.
-
Woods is still banged up so I get that but taking Adams and Cole out, I do not understand.

Here we go!
