It was...it's called a higher ceiling. Give JE some time....
Time? With 2 or 3 year contracts and no restricted free agency, CFL teams don't have the luxury of time. If he bolts to another team this offseason, what the hell was the point? 3 years down the tubes. At least if the Esks lost Coehoorn they got 2 very good years out of him.
-
He should be the first to go.
-
As he should, as he's like 5 years older with far more training...I'm sure if Coehoorn was in Winnipeg this year he would have been lighting it up... no difference between playing in Calgary and the crap sandwich that Winnipeg's offense has been this year.
I guess we'll never know. All we can say is that Coehoorn has done far more than Etienne at this point.
Perhaps that should have been taken into consideration when drafting

Doubt we lose an OL in the expansion draft. Swiston, Pencer, and Neufeld will probably all be here next season, with Neufeld having the inside track on the starting RT job.
I hope they take Poblah.
Wouldn't be surprised. Also wouldn't be surprised to see him succeed in a new environment. Unfortunately our inept coaching staff seems to have sucked any talent that existed right out of him.

Who cares? Playing football is a choice. People die in car accidents every day, should we limit cars to 20 km/h? No, because that's ridiculous. The knowledge is out there now, people should know the risks that come with football. If you don't want to take the risks, don't play the game. End of story.

There's personnel deficiencies - no one, not even members of the team, would suggest otherwise. Again, which players, or groups of players, or position, is he throwing under the bus? Or is this one of those if you hate Burke he's "throwing players under the bus" but if you like Burke "he's just telling it like it is" scenarios?
Scouting is an organizational process, not a sole GM one. I took this quote as more of a criticism of the organization than of the previous GM. The fact that we have one US scout falls on the Bombers, not on Mack.
I'm not saying I'm right. I'm just suggesting when you take what he said directly, without what the beat writers frame around his quote, he isn't exactly "losing his mind" as the thread title suggests.
The problem is that he shouldn't be saying any of this. What kind of coach makes these kinds of excuses? Even if it's true, it is unprofessional and it does have an effect on the team as well. Can you imagine Marc Trestman or Corey Chamblin making the excuse that they didn't have enough talent to work with? No chance, because they are smart and understand that the responsibility ultimately falls on them. Burke is passing the buck to the organization, the GM, and the players, but never has a damn thing to say about what he did wrong himself.

Hello.....Kyle........is anybody home?
Receivers and running backs please.
DB's, LB'ers and DT's.......the problems have been staring you straight in the face the past 2 years.
Almost every position is represented on our practice roster, including a DB, WR, RB, and a couple LB's. There are only so many spots to go around.
Also, I disagree that we have a problem at DT, in fact I'd say we're the strongest in the league at that spot, or close to it.

Two different trades. Two different players. Etienne is a Canadian receiver, I'll give you that. Not much else. Foster at least has talent & an upside. Etienne is a bust & at the very best has flatlined.
Could easily make the argument that Foster has flatlined and Etienne is the one with upside... but I'd rather run headfirst into a wall than attempt to argue with you so we'll just leave it at that.
-
Even though Foster hasn't done much, its stuff like getting a young Canadian receiver for an old broken QB that Joe Mack would've never done.
In fairness to Joe Mack, he did trade a broken Steven Jyles for a draft pick that turned into Jade Etienne... a young Canadian receiver
Jyles was coming off a career season and actually had value at the time. I remember quite a few people being upset we traded him, and then the Argos managed to parlay Jyles into Ray.
He also had a devastating shoulder injury and didn't play for the first half of the next season. Anyone wanting him was taking a huge risk (as demonstrated by his poor play after returning) and Mack got a first round pick for him.

Oh yeah, a game changer that was...
And Foster is...?

It better include a winning GM, a hungry, sharp up and coming coach, and a legit QB.
Get ready for all the boosters to tell us why this is such an unrealistic goal...

Walters really showed his inexperience with this one. What's the rush? Still another two days to make a deal.
I can't tell if some of these comments are jokes.
I think a quick lesson on the difference between trades in football and hockey would be helpful for Bomber fans. Again.
Yeah you're right, in the two days between last night and the trade deadline, Brendan Taman would have decided that he doesn't want a top 2 DE and a second round pick for a guy he wasn't even using. That totally would have happened.
Or maybe another team was holding out and would have come up with a better offer in that time. Too bad Walters blew it at the first sign of getting ANYTHING at all for Hall. Looks like Walters is more concerned with impressing the local media than anything else.
-
Really hoping we turf Burke and Walters as soon as the season is over. Enough of this rookie bullshit, get us someone who knows what they're doing. This is getting embarrassing.

We need to lock up Kohlert... that's kind of sad that I just said that - he's about Hargreaves level...
He's miles beyond anything Hargreaves ever did, but yeah... still not good that he is easily a top 5 Canadian for us right now.
-
Well Hall is injured and there goes getting a box of popcorn for him now. Nice work management team.
Some doctor you are!
-
Saskatchewan got the best of us on this one, no question. This time next year everyone is going to be complaining about what a turnstile Neufeld is.
-
Let's just hire John Murphy and be done with it

Candidates are selected to fill vacancies as board members' three-year terms expire.
This is the most important point. This is what we need.

Signed with New Orleans...

The Bombers have a big problem but I'm 99% sure Selinger doesn't have the solution
Prediction: Who Will Be Our Leading Receiver?

Interesting, not much love for Denmark and looks like he's going to finish as our most productive receiver. Figures!
