Jones might even have a shot at starting at corner at some point in the season, IMO. Alexander and Bucknor are solid players but not world-beaters... no guarantee either one holds on to the starting job. Not saying Jones will win the job out of camp, but he has the athleticism, that's for sure. Briggs has a chance to take a big role on special teams if he shows he can handle it.

Dont know where you got info from but he's made it clear he's coming to camp and wants to play. Good news for the University of Manitoba Bisons football team might not be seen in the same light by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Bisons defensive tackle Evan Gill, whom the Ticats took with the ninth overall pick in the CFL draft earlier this month, has decided to go back to school this fall instead of signing his first pro contract with the Tabbies. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2014/05/26/evan-gill-opts-to-play-another-year-with-bisons-instead-of-joining-cfls-ticats

Pretty sure it's part of his contract, included as an off the books source of income to outbid other teams in free agency. Well if it is part of his contract then it is not off the books...

True but QBs are the exception, they are all expected at rookie camp regardless of veteran status.

Had a beer at the Grove the other day, I believe it was called Broken Squirrel. Very enjoyable.

Madani: CFLPA Recommends Strike Vote To Members

Andrew Harris was being completely honest and sensible... terrible traits to display during a negotiation, unfortunately. I agree that they appear to be staggering. But just to be clear, they weren't ready with a counter-proposal, because on Wednesday that was their counter-proposal. The league hasn't changed their stance. The PA is going to have to come up with something new because revenue sharing just doesn't look like it's going to happen. -

That's correct. Ed Molstad has been involved with the CFLPA for many years. He played in the CFL in the 70's and was a member of the negotiating committee back then. -

The problem is that the negotiations can't even begin until the players abandon the revenue sharing concept. There's really no wiggle room there.... you either have revenue sharing or you don't. Nothing to negotiate until that is resolved. -
Why the Greg Peach hate? He is a pretty good DE. Only got into 6 games after joining the circus in Winnipeg and still recorded 3 sacks. He is a nice guy to have around in case none of the new guys pan out.

Bush didn't sign with the Lions until 2013. It was Jahvid Best and Joique Bell who pushed Kevin Smith out of a job.
-
Ted Laurent was born in Montreal and the Als haven't missed the playoffs... ever. If the money is equal, Laurent signs in Montreal. Believing otherwise is just wishful thinking.

Seems like a pleasant young man. http://iphone.tsn.ca/tsnpodcasts/1290_HL_Smith_May202014.mp3

The players will not stay on strike for a whole season. There's no way. It just won't happen. And that's why they are going to lose this fight. Like I just heard them say on Hustler and Lawless, does anyone think at 38 years old Henry Burris is going to give up $465,000? Who knows if that contract will even still be there next year. Just so Joe Nobody can have an extra 10 grand on his minimum salary? Is Henry Burris that selfless??? Is anyone???? -
Good receiver out of the backfield as well. Tough runner, think Chad Simpson but bigger.
-
He finished 2012 healthy after losing his starting job, and he did not play in 2013 although he worked out for a couple teams including the Colts and Giants during the season. He had a lot of miles on his body after his college career and his first couple seasons in the NFL, but at 27 years old you would think he has something left in the tank. He should be healthy after the last couple years of not playing much football.
-
Not gonna lie, I'm pretty pumped about this one. Darren Cameron @Darren_Cameron 2m #Bombers announce the club has signed veteran running back @KevinSmithRB.

By my understanding of the practice roster rules, Bilukidi definitely has no time left, and neither does Andy Mulumba. Mulumba dressed for 14 games last year, which would make him ineligible. http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2013/8/31/4677982/nfl-practice-squad-salary-rules-eligibility
-
I imagine Laurent will be back in Edmonton if he doesn't get an NFL deal.
-
I would say Bilukidi is in tough to make the team. They will likely roster four defensive tackles... Domata Peko is 30 years old but he has played his whole career in Cincinnati, I can't see him being cut. They also have Brandon Thompson and Devon Still who they used a 3rd rounder and 2nd rounder on, respectively, in the 2012 draft. The other likely DT is Geno Atkins who just signed a 5 year extension.... BUT he also tore is ACL last season so it is unclear if he will be ready for the start of the season or not. There are likely going to have to be some injuries on the DL for Bilukidi to crack the lineup. Also, I believe he has played in too many games to be signed to a practice roster.
