  1. Do we? If we're getting a great player I don't mind waiting for a year or two. I don't really see the benefit of taking a lesser player who will come in and play special teams and maybe rotate in on offence/defence for a few snaps. We already have plenty of guys like that. I think the team is in a good enough position now that we can afford to wait on a star rather than intentionally taking a worse player just to have them in the lineup right away.
  2. You can't really tell from the CF% whether it's from better offence or worse defence. One thing you can look at is zone start percentage. If someone is starting in the defensive zone all the time, even if they are good players the other team has a far better chance of generating shots. Myers hasn't played much. But a lower Fenwick in general means that more of your shots are getting blocked or you aren't blocking as many shots. But it's important to remember that it's about everyone on the ice at the time, not just the one player. That's one reason why the sample size for Myers is too small, especially when talking about something as (relatively) rare as shot blocks. I wouldn't read anything into stats in anything less than 20 games played because they jump up and down before leveling off.
  3. He was scheduled to be a free agent in 2 weeks. No reason not to release him.
  4. You can't say it's not good cap management when they have a great team every year. Yeah they have to get rid of good players every year but that just means they have a surplus of good players. I'd have no problem getting rid of Kyle Connor, etc, if we had a great team and were winning consistently.
  5. Pav is gonna be Pav. It really depends if Helle gets better or not. If he keeps playing the way he's played for the majority of the year it will be a Pav-Helle rotation. Remember, there are only 30 games remaining. So Pav "slowly seeing fewer and fewer games" is unlikely simply based on time.
  6. Yeah and Jeff Perrett is on the market so maybe that has become a realistic option? I don't know. I guess this is the time of year when big money guys start getting released.
  7. Maybe the Bombers want to go back to 3 NI on the OL and 1 NI on the DL
  8. Hughes is 2 years older than Westerman and Bowman 3 years older. I'm not saying Westerman's career is over or anything of the sort, just that he's starting to approach the age where most players start to drop off. Just because Jaromir Jagr can play hockey at 46 doesn't mean all players can, and the same principle applies to a guy like John Bowman. It's different for everyone but there are some common trends that apply in *most* cases.
  9. Westerman is also turning 32 this year so who knows how much gas he has left in the tank.

They seem to like the "casual clothes" for the surprise debut. Gallows and Anderson looked about the same when they first appeared and others have as well. I think it goes back to the original appearance of Hall and Nash in WCW... seems more "real" when they are in street clothes? I don't know.
  11. I think we might see a Pav-Helle rotation for the remainder of the year unless one of them starts playing well.
  12. There's no way we're out of it right now. IF this team can find the balls to put together a 3 game winning streak for the first time they'll be right back in the race.
  13. You might be thinking of Robert Marve

The Ellsworth bump was rough. I think it was supposed to be rough but not that bad. He was supposed to land on his feet a little more but they clipped the top rope on the way over. That would be my assumption. One of the announcers said "Ellsworth is going to need a hip replacement!!!" Ummm... yup.
  15. Jeff Perrett can definitely still play but not at the huge salary he was likely receiving. Maybe time to move him inside to Guard ala Gene Makowsky at the end of his career.

Love the memes and gifs people are coming out with though. Lol.

Loved the whole rumble until Roman came out. I get why they did it, to swerve everyone into thinking Roman was going to win. But really come on. Should have been Samoa Joe at 30. And Kane at 27 or whereever Enzo came out.
  18. "It's not for kids." Based on what? Kids love it. Was coaching at my nephew's hockey practice yesterday and they were all talking about it. The Jets in-house skills comp is full of kids if you ever go watch that. It's literally all about the kids. Anyone can see that.

I know we're all hating Trump right now but damn she lays the smackdown on these View harpies:
  20. Not necessarily a requirement for getting a look in the NFL though. LeFevour, Graham Harrell both got looks without any real success in the CFL.
  21. I would expect his agent to gauge interest. He will only be 26 so there may still be some teams who would give him a look... maybe not a serious look but an opportunity nonetheless. The question is whether he is at a point in his life where he would want to take a shot at the NFL with the very slim chance of making it or take starter money in the CFL if it is being offered to him.
  22. The Skills competition is for the kids. They love it. Yeah it's kinda lame but not everything has to be tailored to the middle-aged hardcore sports fan.
