  1. Our NI talent is leaps and bounds ahead of where it was during the Taman era and Kelly debacle, but that's about it.

Our NI receiving depth now compared to the end of 2009 is night & day. We have 4 guys now who would have been the best NI receiver on that 2009 team.

Elsewhere the improvement is marginal. We have two prospects on the OL that I have high hopes for, but they need to show something before I can consider them much of an upgrade. I'm also slightly concerned that Swiston hasn't been able to take the RG job from Morley yet.

  2. but honestly it really showed some of Dunigans ignorance of the situation. He was ranting about making Goltz the starter and threw out the "this guy couldn't get a sniff of playing time last season ahead of Brink or Elliott etc etc" Which is really not true. Burke put in a package specifically to get Goltz playing time as the year went on and came out and said that Goltz was being kept because he felt he was the better option. So that argument from Dunigan kinda falls flat. Too much over reacting without delving into exactly what went on at the qb position and a lot of anger at Buck not being the starter anymore. He seemed quite against that in the segment they did on it.

I don't know why people give Mack such a hard time across the board, really the only place he's failed is in the hiring of his coaches, which is a big failing but it's the same old thing, criticise the real problems no need to invent ones.

Dunigan's argument was Pierce should have been replaced in the offseason, not now. I 100% agree with that. The part about Goltz was way off though.

Mack's failings have to include an OL that is below average or worse at 4 out of 5 spots. Shannon Boatmen being the best import RT he can come up with after 4 years is a huge failing.

  3. If it were up to me I'd have replaced DelMonaco anyway. Just think too many guys took a step back when he came in and no one has really stepped up and gotten any better.

Who took a step back under him? January's become an allstar under him & Morley's the only other guy who was here when he arrived. He also turned a DT into a serviceable LG.

  4. I meant why make a grand proclamation about the starters job?  It's not like Goltz has shown anything to indicate he's a legitimate starting QB in this league.  They've painted themselves into a corner.  Goltz *must* play well and bring success or else management looks foolish.  What are they going to do if Goltz plays poorly, make another grand proclamation that Max Hall is the starter?

Yes, Max Hall should be next in line. Under no circumstances should Pierce ever start a game for this team again.

Mgmt already made themselves look foolish naming Pierce as our starter going into the season. Doubling down on the error by keeping him as our starter is much worse than handing the team over to unproven guys. I'd rather run with guys who we don't know much about than somebody we know well enough to be sure he isn't the answer.

  5. The Sun bashing is ridiculous and unfair. It's not like the Free press is some shining example of journalistic integrity in everything they do.

If you don't like the Sun then don't read it. But don't insult those that do. I love the Sun. Aside from a couple of people with the Freep (Lawless included) I have no time for that paper. Far too arrogant and entitled.

Bunch of jerks with their big words and complete sentences.

The Sun won't be my paper of choice until all of their pictures are turned into popups.
