  1. The truth is somewhere in between. We had a combination of the worst talent in the league & a bad coaching staff, possibly the worst in the CFL. Edmonton's in that conversation; Reed seemed to lose his sanity as the season went on and made some very strange decisions. His "consequences" rant is up there for the worst coach media scrums I've ever seen. 17to85 wouldn't (couldn't) answer the question so I'll put it to you, what other team's roster would you take ours over? It's a bullshit question and you know it that's why I didn't answer it.
  2. Why in gods name would Tillman be an option to start with after the hatchet job he did in Edmonton?
  3. ahh yes, advocating private ownership while bringing up an example of terrible private ownership... It's not private vs. community owned that's the issue here, the issue is that they gotta stop making bad decisions no matter how the bills get paid.
  4. And anyone who thinks coaching wasn't the single biggest issue with this team is similarly out to lunch. What other team in the CFL would you take our roster over? Did I say that the roster was the most talented in the league? I said coaching was the #1 issue and it was. It made the talent that is here look much worse than it actually is.

  6. If he gets a real good solid staff around him I don't see why he can't be successful. He's a smart guy and his team mates all said he was a hell of a leader, but he's such an unknown as a coach right now just really looks bad and is a big gamble. I think I'd be much more open to that gamble if it hadn't been such a **** show the last few years.
  7. Hell with regards to Creehan I think after the past 2 years his shot at ever being a DC again is pretty much nonexistant so why don't we keep him as linebackers coach? He did well at that and I do think the linebacker play was better this year than last so..... what if?
  8. Whoever it is I hope there's more experience there then Walters. Still not sold on him. I would prefer more experience too but the more this drags on the more it seems like Walters is going to get the job.
  9. I saw it posted somewhere by someone else that summed it up best. Any potential GM that wanted to keep Burke as head coach was a poor choice for GM anyway.
  10. but to get technical, you still got an interview based on knowing these people right? So that is getting points for prior relationships. It's just the way the world works. It's not what you know it's who you know.
  11. Alex Hall sure did but he's not here anymore. Other than that... Did Hall really improve though? Took him a couple weeks to get used to the Canadian game when he first came but after that he was pretty good at getting to the qb. Bottom line a lot of guys got worse with Tim Burke and the best performances were from the guys who weren't here long enough to have their games completely destroyed. Burke had to go just because he wasn't making players better than when they fist came in outside of a rare occasion. Now it's probably not all Burkes fault directly, but he is still the guy supposed to be responsible for putting a coaching staff together than can get the most out of players and he absolutely failed to do that.
  12. The bottom line is that you can compare what Lapolice and Burke each did with the rosters that Joe Mack handed them and they had the same kind of build for all of them and one guy may not have won anymore but he got a hell of a lot more out of them than Tim Burke did. Now I don't view Lapolice as a great coach who can turn a terrible roster into a competitive one, I think he's a guy who coached not to lose nothing more but compared to Tim Burke he might as well be Wally Buono. Setting aside the roster issues that may or may not exist Burke did nothing last year or this year to show that he was a good head coach.
  13. ehh chances are they have their GM already anyway.
  14. welcome to every single hiring in the world everywhere.
  15. This instantly makes the Bombers a much more competitive team. No more rolling over and dying, awesome way to start the day.
  16. When he was in Calgary he was an assistant player personnel guy. In Toronto he's assistant GM. That's a promotion. A paper promotion
  17. Just out of curiosity, why would the position a player played on the field have any bearing on their abilities as a front office guy? Are you suggesting a QB would make a better president than a long snapper just because they played a more glamorous position? The football background relevancy comes from being around a team, it's leaders, seeing the day to day operations and what may work / may not. It doesn't come from where you lined up on the field. Never mind that he played both linebacker and fullback right? Seems to me that in terms of on field experience he's about as well rounded as they come having experience in all 3 phases. There's reasons to question the hire but not a single one of them has to do with his football background.
  18. I don't know that Khari was all that terrible as an OC in Hamilton though... It's not like they ran him out of town, they just changed their head coach to someone who happened to be a bit of an offensive guru so that made for changes in the whole coaching staff. Basically I have no idea whether or not Khari is any kind of quality HC candidate or not, all I know is that seeing him in green is just wrong and it's high time he comes home in some capacity.
  19. when Hamilton first started doing it they always compared it with how Winnipeg would use Goltz... of course then Goltz failed to win more than one game and he's got tire tracks on him and never sees the field.
  20. The concern would be how does a rookie head coach deal with the ex head coach being under him? Is Burke still trying to act like a head coach? The only way this can work is if everyone 100% buys into the roles. personally I'm in favour of just doing a clean sweep and starting fresh but IF everyone is on board 100% then I suppose it could work.
  21. question #1, why the delay on this announcement when everyone knew it was coming a long time ago? question #2 Y U NO FIRE BURKE ALREADY?!?!
  22. Something to the effect of (and I'm paraphrasing): why would I want to go there .. it's where kickers and their careers go to die .. Berry was the coach at the time who rode Westwood out of the league and almost did the the same to Serna, so his comment rings pretty true. He looked like a psych case on the sidelines after a bad kick. Add to it the fact that Canadinns had hard to predict wind and we really should have been a kickers last stop at that time. ahh yes cause Westwood wasn't a washed up old vet at that point and Serna wasn't a below average american kicker...
  23. I'm just saying that Calgarys offence relies on being able to run Cornish, if that gets taken away (as the argos did in the grey cup last year) everything falls apart cause Glenn isn't the guy who is likely to go out there and win it on his own.
  24. I think the GC will come down to Ray > Glenn you mean Cornish vs. the toronto defense right? That's what did them in last year, they couldn't establish the running game.
  25. I wouldn't ever want that fan base to cheer for my team.
