  1. Why not just put Vanterpool on for Logan? What does Logan bring to the table if we can't block anything anyway? OL is so fundamental to doing anything consistently on O. Build that out first then fit the skill guys around it. **** if you need 4 imports, you need 4 imports. Do Peterson for Cobb. Cobb never even set foot on the field. Can do a lot of things on D to get another DB on. Personally don't think Vaval should start and return too. Other guy they could get on is Echols who is very capable returner and receiver. I'm sure Echols would be fine to gun on punts and kickoffs too.
  2. Man I hope Terry Wilson cashes in on the hype before he has to take any real reps. Yeah the real difference on points ends up being the exchange on the QB fumbles. They punch it in. We kick a FG. We also missed a 49 yard FG which is basically routine at this point. People are very negative but the way both teams played very undisciplined in that game it was basically a coin flip. Both OL's were pretty terrible. Sask was far more committed to the run, especially once they saw how Harris was moving.
  3. That decision was fine. Don't want to put the ball up for grabs. He didn't **** around, he tucked it and didn't scramble to try to make something out of nothing and lose more yards. Lost 4 yards to give Castillo a 49 yard kick well within range. The point people seem to be missing largely on that situation is the clock. If they bring in short yardage crew they basically burn 2 plays. Could pop Collaros down to sneak or hand off, but really no guarantee on the handoff that you get the first either. To that point we had one run play over 3 yards. The same people complaining about lack of aggression are complaining when they do the right thing situationally if you're going to try to score a TD there. The main problem with everything is lack of execution. Nothing was being blocked, run or pass. Heroic effort by Collaros and Oliviera (doing a lot of the work in pass pro) to keep us in that game offensively.
  4. That's kind of the "roster management" issue that bugs me. Ayres, Weitz, Shay, Smith....can we get a role for some of these guys on D even if they are just setting the edge and pass rushing for a few snaps a game? Use those guys, maybe drop Vaughters and get a real DT out there. I'm watching Jake Kelly get beat twice on the same play by two different receivers literally spinning like a top and wondering why they don't use Shay or Smith for anything. Secondary is the real concern to me. And you can open up a spot there to get another experienced body on by using all the guys in the first two levels of the D. Also Logan...drop him and get Echols on. Echols can return too. If Vaval is playing corner, he shouldn't be returning unless there's an emergency. Or if he's returning, get another DB on.
  5. Is this the junior high breakup letter forum? Thought I was on Morning Big Blue.
  6. The front was great last night. Kept getting Sask off the field. I really liked the scheme. Yeah you could have better players, but they aren't here right now. Everyone did their jobs even with the adversity of losing Schmekel before half. I think they could put more thought into putting Jefferson into a spot to succeed in that general scheme with the 3-3 look. Really the big difference in the game was a couple breakdowns in the secondary and that we didn't score a TD on our 5 yard line turnover while they did. I personally hated when they had Vaughters doing the stand up rush bit on the inside. He's not really explosive or challenging OL with length like a Jefferson does. Didn't harm them, but just a waste IMO. I really think Younger is not looking for an edge rush. They've built scheme around getting in QB eyes more than getting to QB, and a lot of that is about Jefferson. Vaughters made a lot of terrible plays on the edge vs the run, over committing to the flow of Sask's OL from the backside then one cutback and Ouellette was all alone. Luckily he's really slow.
  7. DT was setting up a question about how good it is to see Kyrie Wilson playing well after a few years of injuries and MOS jumped on him about talking about injuries.
  8. Draw or screen because D drops 8 at 15+ yards depth in those situations into quarters...which is basically the D Calgary is playing as their base this season. All you have on O is getting the ball out to someone and hoping they break a tackle or two.
  9. Thought DL was decent. But as a defense don't have that burst to overcome breakdowns in the back end. Got the one turnover, but those turnovers aren't happening enough unless we get to play a 4th string QB.
  10. Should be talking about how long that playcall on the 2 point try took. That was a killer.
  11. It was just a straight up kicker vs 3 defensive players. Officiating be damned. If no one has eyes on that ball to make the initial call, go to replay. When they have to start thinking about what the call is, they can't do their job on the field anyways.
  12. Major officiating blunder with clock on Riders 2nd last possession too to let them run down a full minute on 2 plays before the 3 minute warning finally called at 2:43.
  13. This was a terribly officiated game all around. Nichols play was a clear safety IMO...so we really shouldn't have even got this far...but holy **** that onside kick was clearly recovered by Castillo.
  14. Castillo is on that ball, on the turf. Then refs give 30 seconds for two Riders to fight it out.
  15. So at this point the refs have no idea who got that ball. Like make a call.
  16. Took way too long to get call in. No chance to read anything presnap since they broke huddle at like 7 seconds.
  17. Yeah people are worried about Jake Thomas or Corcoran or a Global LB. The OL blocking no one fundamentally means you can't score points and are going to have a hell of a time winning anything. Put 5 Americans on there if you need.
  18. Wow...Nichols is in what, year 5 in the CFL?
  19. Vaval a little more patient there he can make a play. Instead all over Robustelli in trail where there's a mess underneath so he can't be a target anyways.
  20. Can't believe refs started 20 second clock at 3:03. Malpractice.
  21. Refs very generous letting Riders burn an extra 17 seconds off. 2 plays they went from 3:41 to 2:43.
  22. Clercius is concussed. Nice miss on the RTP
