His characterization of being able to run tempo at the offenses pace isn’t accurate. They do have to wait for the ready for play after ball spotted, sticks moved if required. Unless an offense runs true tempo, meaning the O doesn’t sub so D can’t, the pace is all on the refs closing gates for subs and giving ready for play. I think there is an opportunity for an offense to really challenge the refs to run actual tempo and put that extra pressure on. Haven’t seen anyone committed to it yet. The biggest change is the refs have a timer on them now so there’s less time lost off the game clock between plays outside 3 minute warning. Plus the whistling down right at 3 mins each half is probably another 5-6 plays a game depending on score effects.

DT has a bee in his bonnet about a few weird things. There's no comparison to how many times NFL teams go for it on 4th and 1 to 2 vs CFL teams going for it almost 90% of the time, even on their own side of the field. 4th and 3 NFL is at less than 1/3 conversion attempts. CFL teams go for it way more on 3rd down. The most aggressive NFL team over the past 3 season averages less than 2 4th down conversion attempts per game. CFL teams have guys on their roster just to go for it on 3rd down. No NFL team is signing Tommy Stevens to do that job.

Who knows? They started hot last year and faded in August. BLM isn't a great QB at this stage.

We were the 7th offense in the league last year, with Edmonton taking a nap for the first 10 games, with Wheatfall as our #2-3 receiver (Wilson came back and took targets away). We are the 7th offense in the league without Wheatfall....and one of the teams worse than us is the team he plays for. We NEED Wheatfall. It couldn't be more clear.

Broxton is a little overrated IMO. He's average at best in pass pro. You can tell he lives in fear of getting beat by a speed rush because he always kicks way too wide instead of getting depth. He'd never play tackle in the US, he'd be a guard. Honestly one of the things I would try is Wallace at LT....he plays guard like a tackle in pass pro, and Broxton at guard. Vanterpool or Poncius or whoever at RT. Have to convince all these guys to get depth vs the edge guys because they forget their main advantage is their size and forcing guys to get to the spot where the can bend the edge before a guy like Broxton or Wallace gets their hands on them.

Greg Knox maybe? Only got to be an interim head coach. At York now with Dexter Janke. Totally depends on the school and program how many coaches get paid. U of M has two full time coaches. Laval, Montreal, Sherbrooke, the OUA schools outside of U of T, York, Waterloo, Calgary, UBC, Sask have most of their staff paid. CFL position coaches are mostly guys with limited ability to earn outside of football, for whatever it's worth. CFL teams have tried to pull really solid coaches out of U Sports, CJFL....guys who are getting paid to coach at those levels and sometimes guys with other careers who do coaching on the side. The CFL money is not good enough. Guys basically have to be committed to building their resume to get a head coaching job to make any real money in the CFL. Or be able to flip to NCAA at some point. The last couple Bombers OL coaches will tell you stories about couch surfing and living with their parents into their 40's to pursue coaching.

IMO we never replaced Lawler/Adams and Wolitarsky. I'd be fine with Wilson or White being our main slot receiver. Don't think you really need both. Demski and maybe another thicker slot, or you move the Wolitarsky replacement inside and have someone like Cobb/recent draft pick out at field WR.\ I feel like organizationally we got so used to having depth that we basically are viewing the draft as an exercise in adding depth pieces when we actually don't have enough Canadians that can actually play OL, receiver.

Our receiving corps are a bunch of nice pieces, but as a unit are hugely lacking. Lacking those 1-2 guys that can bail out the QB. We basically need the ball to be perfect from the QB. We have no consistent vertical threat, we don't have anyone that can those physical routes. Hard dig into the field from the boundary. We ran one to Wilson last night that Zach put a decent throw out to, and the DB just got his hand in and knocked it away. We don't have anyone that can put their foot in the dirt and box out the DB. No one for those 50-50 balls. Demski, White, Wilson all great players when they get wide open. Nield I don't think we've really figured a role for, but doesn't seem like a guy who likes to play in traffic, or block consistently. We're missing a couple big pieces of a competent CFL receiving corps and we pay for it every week.

Passing league and we have almost no ability to pass intermediate or deep in this scheme. Almost 2/3 of our passing yards are completions under 5 yards from the LOS. Playing a team with 8 guys starting who weren't starting Game 1 for Ottawa. New DC. It's on the whole offense. OL can't protect, QB can't make basic blitz reads, we don't have the right cast of receivers, OC thinks he's a prodigy....took him until Game 9 to get back to where we were last year that got the last playcaller demoted.
