  1. Buck Pierce called the plays when Mitchell played for us. He was cut in camp last year.
  2. He had one really amazing season as a returner and 2.5 great years as a receiver. It's a pretty low bar if he's in. They better go back through the past 40 years or so and make sure they get everyone else in if Banks is in.
  3. There was only really a Kerwin Bell year...1999. He was toast pretty early in 2000.
  4. We're just missing Darvin Adams and Lawler
  5. You knew Fredricksen and Singer before camp?
  6. Especially when he has to hit a pin head because we have no one who can go get it. That's been the biggest issue along with protection. Why we are leaning into it, I don't know.
  7. I don't mind either of those guys as a piece in our receiving corps. But I anticipate again that lack of a true catch radius type vertical threat impacting us greatly. Our offense has never really functioned without 1-2 of those guys in this era, the style Collaros plays, the ball won't be coming out quick. Nield is a big guy but doesn't have a ton of range, especially as a 3-4 option where the D isn't going to lose track of him. We're going to really have to spring guys wide open for the vertical passing game to take shape when they are all 5'10.
  8. Younger really doesn't want to play any Canadians or rookies on D. And our roster has been built around that for 2 seasons. But that's an offense that would do well to be top 6 in the league IMO. D better start taking the ball away and scoring points or we'll be battling Edmonton for 4th in the West.
  9. I don't think Singer would make a difference, but the depth is ridiculous. Just shows how poor our recent drafts have been and US scouting too. We literally have two guys on the O side of that depth chart that can play special teams. Our backups for all the skill positions are Chris-Ike, Corcoran and Daniels. So like if Tim White blows his achilles in the 1st quarter, those guys are playing the whole game. We use 2 DI's on LB's when we never have more than 4 of them on the field. Like I get that it's nice, but it's a major luxury when you look across at the O and one injury could leave us basically useless for the rest of a game.
  10. It's quite literally embarassing to line up for Game 1 with an offense so thin.
  11. Taking 1-2 potential eligible receivers off the board for defenses many downs is sure to help....strategically. I'm anticipating D Daniels being a dude who mostly stands on the sideline holding his helmet for a long stretch here. 2020's Jade Etienne. Won't even play special teams.
  12. Special teams is still every 6th play in this league. You can't be ignorant enough to just look at a roster and go "hurr durr, so many linebackers." Half of those guys are special teamers. Put fullback beside 3 of their names if it makes you feel better. Having a guy with DL by his name on the roster who stands on the sideline and holds his helmet all game there just in case doesn't help us win anything. We have Gatkuoth to rotate in on the edge. I think it's fair to assume Younger has a plan to use Woodbey at 3 levels of the D. Our D is actually stacked. If people want to worry, worry about receiver and running back. Peterson looked like a stunned junior player in camp in the pre-season games. We're relying a lot on a bunch of Canadians who haven't been consistent or healthy across their careers (Nield, Cobb, Clercius).
  13. Shitload of LB's and DB's though, both nationalities. Maybe Younger finally convinced the brain trust to go 3-3-6 primarily. Griffin/Woodbey as the SHARK.
  14. I mean we don't have a backup punter either. If Sheahan gets hurt we call in another of the hundreds of Aussie punters. We don't need to have a backup for every spot on the PR.
  15. There's literally like 200 Aussie punters sitting by their phones in the US waiting for a gig. If we needed one here tomorrow, we could have one. Based on pre-season, there's very little point to having both Gatkuoth and Bailey active. They are both going to have same utility as 2nd and long rotational ends, with limited utility on special teams. I'm guessing they offered Bailey PR because he doesn't take a spot from anyone else Canadian or American on the PR. Would be nice to get a look at Vesterinen as an interior guy if he shakes loose from NFL Pathway Program.
  16. Because he's not very good?
  17. Well we were waist deep in Canadian receivers, so much so we could use two 2nd round picks to pick a tight end 6 of 9 teams in the league had never even thought about.
  18. I would bet we'll be dressing 7 OL and Daniels Week 1. LT Bryant LG Wallace C Elsbury RG Neufeld RT Broxton Eli and Vibert as backups Demski is probably going to be down, Peterson comes on for him and Cobb starts. We've really just given up on adding any playmakers on O out of the draft for years now. I think we'll have a really good OL. But we have nothing at receiver.
  19. Tons of moves to come. Would need 7 DI slots to dress this roster.
  20. 100% on Perkins. He's the ideal QB3 here at this moment. But he's got basically zero upside or potential to be a #1 in this league. He's Dan LeFevour or Streveler. He can run, he can make you pay with his arm on some improvised plays if you cheat, and you can maybe survive a couple games with him. He might get 300 yards of offense in a great game but probably only 180 of those will be passing. And if you're savvy as a OC/coaching staff you build a run pack around him.
  21. I think the American kickers are in their last CFL season. Punters will be the most important players on the team starting in 2027.
  22. Well TSN on cable has almost 9 million subscribers just in Canada....which doesn't mean people are always on TSN, but they have it. Then add the TSN+ people. TSN+ also has a lot more value than DAZN. They are kind of in active competition over NFL, but either way Bell gets paid. DAZN has 20 million subscribers in the ENTIRE WORLD with almost all of them in Western Europe. It will be a lot of work to get people on DAZN for one CFL game a week. DAZN app itself needs a lot of work. I did one season for NFL on there and switched back to my cable provider for Sunday Ticket/RedZone because there would be weeks that I couldn't get most of the streams on DAZN to work. CFL will just be one stream at least so maybe they can handle that easier.
  23. If a league like the CFL is going to stream, they better go all in on it. Playing 3 games a week on cable and 1 game a week behind a paywall is just about the dumbest setup to get uptake. Can't compare to NHL or NFL selling individual games to Amazon or Netflix because those apps are ubiquitous....everyone has them. And they offer a lot. People buy the DAZN to watch one thing. So you need someone to care enough about the CFL's SNF to now download, subscribe, pay and keep finding it. So yeah it will be nice for the families of the players in the US (who actually get ALL the games on DAZN), but that's not a driver of revenue. This actively makes it harder for Canadians, the people who watch the CANADIAN Football League, to watch games. I don't dispute that the CFL is trying to exist in a broadcast environment in Canada that doesn't really support it's operation. There's two main broadcasters in Canada and they are both actively working to get out of producing live sports. Even more of a reason to actually take the gamble in a way that might work with a streaming partner. But I truly don't believe the future board chair of Bell running the league today is working in best interests of the league.
  24. Well if they are willing to cut their TV ratings in Canada by likely a half to 2/3 on the Saturday game for a few thousand potential US viewers they are even dumber than we think. They got one big cheque. Now Montreal and Toronto will only lose $12 million a year instead of 15. The celebratory self back pats can’t go on too long.
  25. Yeah that one handed pick six by a LB right off the line was a pile of ****. I think it's right to be excited about Elgersma. There's a lot to work with there. His numbers look like **** but we're talking like 8 drops in 2 games, a couple walk in touchdowns on big plays if the receiver finishes his route. Singer seems to be the guy getting the most raves, he made a lot of drops and struggles on the vertical routes.
