  1. I'd like to see Volny start if Simpson is out. IMO he's a better every down back than Ford, and he can block. Ford is a speed guy.
  2. If that was true he wouldn't have just signed Kyle Koch to replace him. He proved he's not a centre in Sask, but he's a serviceable guard. Exactly. The only way he's playing centre is out of desperation. He can't snap the ball consistently.
  3. Couldn't believe he said that on the radio, and right after he said he doesn't want to get fined for talking about refs. Heard of tampering?
  4. What's wrong with his mechanics? He's a little slow on his reads (we don't appear to be doing much pre-snap), but he can make the throws from the pocket and on the move without having to wind-up. He's been making better decisions the last couple weeks in terms of getting rid of the ball too, save for pushing too hard in the 4th quarter in Regina. I'd like to see where he's at after half a season.
  5. Not sure if that would be a concern for me as long as we are addressing the need by way of the draft, free agency or what have you. Rome wasn't built in a day, our o-line won't be revamped in an off-season. Look at it this way. If Parenteau is still on our roster (top 6) next season, that basically means none of our OL prospects panned out. Why couldn't Greaves, Swiston, & Pencer all be on the roster at the same time as Parenteau? We need a starting guard, a RT, and an upgrade at C (likely difficult with Ottawa). Parenteau is a very shaky centre in terms of snapping, Swiston and Pencer should fill the starting RT or G position and 6th OL depending on how we deploy our ratio. That leaves a possible starting guard spot that we'll have to address through trade or free agency if we go with 4 NI's. My assumption is that we'll go with 3 NI's and 2 IMPs with the talent spreading out 9 ways. If Parenteau is starting for us in 2014, we're in trouble, he's a below average player, although many of those will exist on rosters next season with Ottawa coming in, I believe the addition of Parenteau was made to finish this season not for next season.
  6. There are two starting NI LB's in a whole league. Your alternative to Muamba is another NI receiver.

  8. Did they plant a money tree as part of the landscaping? If they didn't, they better.
  9. My thought is, Hall started the 2nd Hamilton game because they wanted to see more, but he got hurt. Has Goltz done anything the past 2 weeks to say he is better than Hall, or deserves more of a look? I don't believe that he has. What potential does Hall have though? I think you can work with Goltz to possibly become a passer, because he can make all the throws, and he's a threat with the read option. Hall is going to have the entire defence sitting on the LOS daring him to make throws, his arm isn't great, and we won't be able to run the ball. I don't think Hall has much potential and he limits the offence.
  10. There might be for Matthews. There aren't many guys in the league that are his size who can move, his hands kind of suck. Montreal is dying at both IMP and NI receiver.
  11. Parenteau is a plug. If he's still on our roster next season, that would be a concern. Woodson is kind of in that not good enough to be a running back at this level and not good enough to play receiver area. He's done well on special teams, but Volny is a pretty good player, a guy who can carry the ball and block, and we have enough receivers. Flipping Woodson and a 5th for a 3rd would have been a fine trade, getting Parenteau to finish the season is a bonus.
  12. Even Suitor thought that was a questionable penalty iirc since Durant didn't really telegraph that he was going to slide. Suitor thinks a lot of things, also thought Burke didn't have to challenge the Denmark catch in the endzone because it was a scoring play. Muamba had more than a full stride to let up and if a QB goes down with his feet in front of his head, he's dead and the ball isn't advancing. He doesn't have to put out a tweet saying he's done running.
  13. The only thing Cauchy Muamba does well is blitz. That penalty on a hook sliding Durant was about the dumbest I've seen in my life, particularly from a guy who rarely hits anyone downhill as a safety.
  14. Thing about Marsh is, he's basically be thrown in as a rookie pro, and he's going toe to toe with the defending Grey Cup champs D. He makes some pretty savvy decisions, but he's rough around the edges and turns it over sometimes too. Clearly has the arm needed, not a gun like Burris, but good enough, and can scramble.
  15. If I had #1 pick in a draft of all the players in the league right now, I'd take Mitchell. In terms of the younger QBs, Reilly would be #2 for me, then Marsh, then Willy. Those four are the ones that have shown potential (make reads and throws from the pocket) to be long-term answers soon IMO. Collaros has a nasty release, if you keep him in the pocket he's screwed. Montreal lost the game by blitzing too much today, make Collaros beat you with his arm. He can make plays with his legs though. He's a little bit more refined version of Goltz but with a windup like Brink. I don't see him turning into a long-term answer for anyone. LeFevour hasn't run an actual offense in the regular season, he runs Hamilton's short-yardage/wildcat package. We have no idea if he can make reads and throw from the pocket. Hall doesn't have a good enough arm to be a pure pocket passer. Goltz isn't a passer at all.
  16. We've hardly seen Watson at 100% since his rookie season. He has a good game every now and then and is a tough football player, he blocks well, but really he probably doesn't have much left in the tank as a solid contributor, although Ottawa coming in will help extend his career. If we can get a NI better than what we've got at another position or a high draft pick (top 2 rounds) for him I'd take it no questions asked.
  17. Or Watson. Very possibly. I'd hate to lose him but ... if you can shore up the OL, he IS getting older. He only plays half a season. If we could get anything useful for him that would be great.
  18. Is Kyle Walters the guy who turned a paper clip into a house?
  19. That was Anderson, who mouthed off Creehan after he took that bullshit 15 yard penalty for "roughing", which was a joke. Goltz reminded me today of Tom Burgess. Not great. But got us enough points to win the game, letting the D just do the main job to win the game. Tom Burgess could pass. Goltz gives you a chance to win because the defense always has to respect his running ability, and he can make plays. Officiating let too much go for way too long, and it got out of hand between the whistles in the 2nd half. Should have put their feet down when McElveen went after Goltz when he scored his first TD.
  20. The guy hasn't played a NFL game since 2009 (equivalent to 3 head coaches in Bomber time), hasn't been under contract to a NFL team since first cuts in 2010 training camp, hasn't played a professional football game for 2 seasons. For him to come to the CFL and all of a sudden have NFL teams interested the same week seems dubious to me.
