2019 CFL Season: Around the League
We probably could have got a 3rd rounder for Buck Pierce to take off the headset and go behind centre for the Argos.

Week Of: Bombers @ Argos
My guess is Kongbo replaces Rush if there are no other injuries among the NI's. The other option would be Wright. The Bombers didn't dress a DI at LB vs Hamilton. I think we should start showing a two returner look with Whitehead and whoever else is on to make the kicker think about placement. We are basically never trying for punt blocks and with the new roughing the kicker rules there is no point anyway. If the kicker misplaces his kick having two guys deep could really punish the cover team. In terms of receivers it's interesting that when the going gets tough our most reliable guy is Wolitarsky. Lapo needs to remember that. He has an ability to snag tough balls and find the chains that not many on our team do. I'd also like to see Petermann get more run even if everyone is healthy, gives an opportunity to use Demski in more suitable ways and not as a traditional slot. I think Lawler has a lot to offer. Will be interesting to see if Matthews steps up now.

2019 CFL Season: Around the League
Not to derail this thread...but the issue with the content 1290 produces is they give too much airtime to the hosts to blather about stuff they don't know anything about. Basically like pick two sort-of sports fans (always get the impression that Rick Ralph kind of hates his job) and let them talk about the headlines. The morning and drive shows need better and more guests. Anytime it's just the guys in the station shooting the **** it's incredibly uninformed and boring. The morning show generally has terrible guests too, mostly bloggers.

No it can't. Really a guy like MBT is just a punching bag, he's not going to get any better he's already in his 30s. Sort of like when we had Max Hall. I mean MBT would be useful to a team like the Bombers maybe if we lost some guys to injury and were going to just want a guy to do very simple things and rely on the run and D. On a 0 win team I don't know how much time you waste with a guy like that who clearly isn't good enough. Toss anyone else out there and see what you have until Franklin returns.

Argo D is pretty decent, but like a lot of bad teams when they play 37-38 minutes every game they start to crack too.

There's no use in playing a guy like MBT if you're an awful team. Might as well lose with someone who might get better.

Edmonton is such a bonehead team. Why throw a lateral pass? Why give a team like the Argos hope?

Players, especially Ottawa D players, gotta be livid their coach hands Calgary the game on a platter, FFS they created a turnover on the goal-line to preserve the lead!!

This exact situation is what got Lapo fired in 2012.

That decision is only one a loser makes.

thursday night football
Extremely stupid decision on the safety...literally no difference in how many yards Calgary needs to win the game...better off forcing them to make more plays to have to score TD.

Still tons of time and Ottawa has no hope of converting a 2nd down.

Can't throw an open field block coming towards own endzone. Don't necessarily agree with the rule, but pretty blatant missed call at a huge time in a game.

That's an illegal block by the rules now.

Pregame talk: Bombing the Hammer
Taking a stab in the dark or taking a puncture in the dark? Have heard speculation from a friend who owns a different restaurant but knows many witnesses that Matthews threw up his dukes and then got popped with the business end of a fork.

Pregame talk: Bombing the Hammer
Other piece is we want our special teams guys fresh because Hamilton is dangerous on returns. I don't want Hallett or Exume trying to figure out how to play DB in the CFL and then covering a punt two minutes later.

2019 CFL Season: Around the League
I don't know how much you can blame Tabbies...Chapman showed up to CFL combine. That shows interest IMO. Lots of guys don't show, especially guys going for the NFL or who don't want to play at all.

Pregame talk: Bombing the Hammer
One of the receivers for sure, probably Matthews or Lawler. Can't see Bombers using Jones as dimeback and only having the two rookie kick chasers as backups for the secondary along with Wright who just got here. Hamilton is a heavy passing team, about 65/35 pass run even with Thomas Erlington. Likely more without him. I suspect we will see a lot of downs where the Bombers have the dime in and only 5 guys between DL/WIL/MLB until they get a feel for how Hamilton has game planned offensively (basically how much are they using Kalinic and a back vs Jones/Coombs and a back).

Walker was pretty good on punts IMO...first CFL game too. Smart and could see potential for explosiveness.

Matt Nichols Discredited Too Much? Passing Yards Are Meaningless
Sask and Ottawa are in the same tier. Ottawa's victories came against teams with combined 5 wins. Sask's victories came against teams with combined 1 win. Ottawa is ahead by a nose. With Davis at QB they are better than Sask.

Williams was here with the Bisons before he signed with the Argos, couldn't get eligible. Argos found a loophole that made him a free agent, he enrolled at UBC his first year out of high school so his draft year was 2015 and he went undrafted.

Pregame talk: Bombing the Hammer
Hall has had a tough time with Masoli. I think the key is to disguise blitzes and provide lots of guys in coverage most of the time, force Masoli to be accurate, don't leave guys covering a whole half of the field allowing Masoli to just chuck the ball up and let his receiver find it.

HOT GOSS: Matthews in hot water
Dave Ritchie.

Ottawa Redblacks In Town Part 2
Brian Jones is the likely pickup IMO...he's played a couple games already this season for Hamilton so he's in shape, and he's a great special teamer.

HOT GOSS: Matthews in hot water
Doubt it. Big contract, lack of production. One big game last year otherwise lots of targets and not much production. Think he'd have to have a few good games before he'd be trade bait.
