  1. There is no doubt IMO either. There are at least three provincial governments relying on a CFL team operating to serve public debt on a stadium, arguably four but I don’t know as much about the BC Place arrangement. I’m not entirely sure why the ask is to the Feds. I would like to hear more about other partnership ideas and levels of government more directly involved. Whatever happens a CFL will emerge out of this. All these venues will need tenants. It just might be slightly reformed.
  2. Ambrosie is way too fluffy. Needs to be very direct. No one has time for bullshit right now least of all governments with everyone coming cap in hand right now. I also would like to know, and no one seems to be asking, what other kinds of deals has the CFL looked at in terms of TSN/Bell, other industries that are really reliant on the CFL to make their revenue...New Era, other suppliers.
  3. Well that was a very Ontario heavy draft for the Bombers.
  4. Becker finally goes at 49. In the top two rounds of a lot of mock drafts in the last year.
  5. He was 210 when he was 17. At 22 he's over 230.
  6. 48 yard punting average in the OUA and 86% on FG's, range to midfield.
  7. Great pick Liegghio. Better if he changes his name to Legg-io.
  8. 37 Bombers take Brendon O'Leary-Orange Receiver out of Nevada 6'4 210.
  9. F Sask actually got a real good receiver at 30.
  10. Could snag a decent DL and receiver here too.
  11. No one, pick traded to Argos for Collaros. Pick next 37 then 39.
  12. You watch Hallett a bit and he's sort of the OUA's answer to Mo Leggett as a safety/HB/SAM kind of guy that moves all around the field. Whether than translates we'll see, but he's easily a guy that fits the roster. Hall loves those guys who don't really need to have a position to be comfortable who can play up at the line or cover a deep third and take someones head off or make a play on the ball.
  13. I don't think we lost Jeff Hecht.
  14. Great pick. Maybe the best player available and fits a need.
  15. 3 guys picked in top 15 who are 26 or older. Bizarre. Might be 28 by the time football is played again.
  16. When it comes down to it, do we take a gamer or a winner?
  17. "He's a gamer." In-depth analysis.
  18. Christ BC is going to pick a QB at 15 overall with that roster?
  19. I want that receiver from Guelph. If not him, Hallett or the Greek UBC DB.
  20. Just making **** up now...Czech guy who played one year at UOttawa 3 years ago...now Canadian!
  21. Drafting a guy turning 26 when you're probably drafting for 2021 if things go well....
  22. The vast majority of their operating costs won’t happen if the league doesn’t operate. So really what they need is cash to service debt, maintain facilities and pay a few staff like maybe President-GM-Head Coach. I’m left wondering if the CFL explored any kind of deal with Bell (TSN) to get an advance on future rights payments to get through the crisis. TSN is hugely vested in the existence of the league, plus owns one team. Maybe they can get $100 million and pay it back over 10 years once operations start again at a few percent interest. Also in the case of several teams you’d think they could work out deals with their provincial governments to cover debt payments on the stadiums until events are going again.
  23. Not with 7 stadiums that exist solely to field professional football, 3 of them with hundreds of millions of government debt owing.
  24. The math doesn't work. They have nowhere near $150 million in costs if they don't play. If they don't play the players don't get paid. Is the league going to try to pay all the players with government money?
  25. The local employees are taken care of in two different ways. This ask would be outside of that. It's extra complicated because local and provincial governments are tied into the CFL operating to pay off debt they've taken on to build and renovate stadiums.
