  1. Evans probably gets fined for that hit if the Eskimos don't challenge it.
  2. You could say the same about operating teams in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto. Upward pressure on salaries is going to result in the prairie teams signing the paycheques of the whole league again and put the whole thing in peril.
  3. Get rid of the reviews. If they can't make that call they aren't worth having.
  4. That should be roughing the passer. Spear with a little extra on the ground. See if the Command Centre has the guts.
  5. The cap won't be going up significantly. Where is that money coming from? At least a third of the league is hemorrhaging money at the current level of compensation.
  6. For all the angst about the Bombers, we're seeing that every team in the West has some serious flaws heading down the stretch.
  7. What makes you think Reilly wants to be with Maas?
  8. White had 3 brutal drops in the 2nd preseason game. He played his way off the roster and into the final cuts. He certainly didn't play well enough to surpass a veteran free agent signing. If you think Bowman's spot was up for grabs in pre-season you are deluded. White lost to Thompkins, rightfully so. Hasn't done jack for the Argos either.
  9. Edmonton comes out and does nothing first drive. Couple chucks downfield. Uninspired.
  10. What's wrong with the scheme there? You have a DB in perfect position to make a play on a field out. That's as good as it gets. You aren't going to bracket that route from the opposite hash. That's the 2nd hardest throw for the QB to make after the flag route to the same side of the field.
  11. Don't really see a ton of hope for Manziel. Not doing anything well in a consistent way. The odd prayer answered, I don't know if you can build an offense on that, I guess to some degree Maas and Reilly have. Clearly the Als can't score even when they put up a few plays and yards.
  12. I'd rather our O tonight. Ottawa relied a lot on favourable officiating to extend several drives and get some points on the board. For instance a clear Harris lateral that was called a forward pass. FG there. Ellingson's "catch" on the last drive of the 4th. Sinopoli's spot in OT and the JFG TD drive which gave OTT a full yard they didn't attain and allowed a 3rd down sneak which would have been a longer gamble, and Fogg's "stumble" aided by a pretty significant shot by JFG. We rarely get those calls. Time of possession is huge, and our O could have put up a couple more TD's to salt this one away early.
  13. Hall must be a genius to have Fogg playing so far off the line knowing Ottawa was going to run that fly to JFG.
  14. Disagree. You won't find anyone playing up on the receivers on the line unless they are in a bunch, standard to play off 8 yards. This is Canadian football. The open space was due to having no LB's in coverage, again. Nobody in the flats, again. Take Bighill and JSK out of the coverage and you basically have to run quarters, cover 1 or 0 with 6 in coverage. D has been dominant when they've done a good job of mixing blitzes and coverages with 3 man rushes.
  15. The problem was too much blitzing, and too predictably blitzing Bighill and JSK in the 4th Q. That's what he always reverts too. I didn't see any prevent. They were never that far ahead against the clock. In general I'd like to see our D focus more on making tackles and less on trying for kill shots every down. Alexander is the worst offender, wrap up and finish the play. Don't let them bounce off you for another 5-10-15 yards if not more.
  16. Has anyone stopped that pitch play to Harris in the redzone yet? No they haven't, get him on the edge vs a SAM or HB, TD. Instead we run two straight dropbacks from 1st and goal from the 5 and kick a field goal.
  17. Huge back to back road wins against +.500 teams. First two wins of the season for the Bombers vs +.500 teams.
  18. Sure but when they break back towards their own line of scrimmage they have a huge advantage. That's Canadian football, the offense has a huge advantage with unlimited motion. You can cover off short routes and see if you get beat deep or lean more on the deep routes and come up to make plays on the ball and tackles. Most teams choose the latter because they don't want to give up multiple 70 yard plays every game.
  19. What do people think "soft" coverage is? This is Canadian football. You can't jam receivers who get a 15 yard running start.
  20. The challenges are horrible. And it's horrible that the coaches only get one win or lose. Should be unlimited if they keep winning. They try so hard to use it on an impactful play that many times they hold the challenge when there's a play they should challenge, especially earlier in games. There's been at least a half-dozen plays in this game that should have been challenged.
  21. At least it got Campbell to waste his challenge early on a relatively inconsequential play to the outcome of the game.
  22. Can block as long as the pass is completed behind the line of scrimmage. The illegal part was Ellingson moving toward his own endzone and throwing a block.
  23. Stupid second and long call, Nichols rolling left throwing a shovel back to his right. Garbage. Go downfield or run a draw over that crap. Lucky it wasn't picked off by a DL and run back.
  24. Powell has 2 touches for 56 yards and a TD....and Ottawa has completely gone away from him. Did Sayles knock him out on the TD?
