  1. The Bombers did a really good job of softening up the Sask D. The key to running like that is not going away from it and variety. They hit the dives and leads between the tackles hard early and then mixed in off-tackle stuff. Streveler is key too. My fear is that if they fall behind by a score or more Lapo will let the run fall by the wayside, even early in the game.
  2. Where is this ref going to be positioned? If they see an egregious hold or illegal block they can’t call it? Just when you think they couldn’t get any stupider.
  3. Wow. Two pretty different interpretations of the same quote on O'Shea and what he's doing with an hour.
  4. A quote from a Kirk Penton insider: Randy) Ambrosie has never once talked to a group of coaches about anything. Coaches will leave the league, and the quality of play will suffer. Young Canadian coaches will be hurt by the capping of the number of coaches on staff, so they will not be able to get quality control jobs and grow into position coaches. Someone should ask Ambrosie if he and his staff are going to match the 10 percent pay cut (Chris) Jones and the Riders took? Do some teams have too large of staffs? Yes, but work together to find a compromise with coaches and operations. This guy just is something else. Instead of trying to drum up football in Mexico, promote our players and game more here.
  5. The Riders just signed Drew Tate. Yes Collaros and Lulay will be on a roster next season if they want to be.
  6. Here's a question for speculators...is Ambrosie CFL commissioner on January 1, 2020? I say it's 50/50. Going to depend on CBA talks and if he can drop the "I need people to like me" grandstanding act that the football guys behind the BOG can't stand. They need to fix mistakes he's already made to make the game reasonable, and he needs to just market the league and stay out of it. The CBA stuff is huge. Most of the league are free agents and the AAF is going to come hard at them with guaranteed American money. You could see established CFL players leave if there is too much uncertainty. Think of guys like Roosevelt and Jefferson, star players, free agents, guys that aren't going to wait until June to get paid. They'll leave. They all will except for marquee guys, QB's and Canadians. The suckhole routine on Regina radio today is just pathetic for someone in his position.
  7. If Halifax gets a team Chris Greaves might get another 5 seasons of CFL paycheques.
  8. That lateral was a big play. Very likely to put points on the board for the Bombers if it was called correctly. The big flaw in the challenge system is having only one per team regardless of success. They should be unlimited if the teams keep winning them. Why should they get screwed by poor officiating or have to accept it and try to pick the best moment to use it? Get the black and white calls right.
  9. We really need a 10th team. We have the Riders trying to get Henry Burris out of retirement and Jeremiah Masoli heralded as one of the best QB's in the league. Going to be some ugly football with 10 teams.
  10. Bleh, if you're worried about QB stats in a game where we rushed for 200 yards in -20 weather you just hate the guy blindly.
  11. Wilson actually played quite a bit. I'll rewatch the game tomorrow but by my eye Wild didn't play many more snaps than he did with JSK in there as per the usual line-up, but he played more behind 40 fronts than usual as the Bombers didn't run much 30 front against the Rider run heavy O.
  12. Yes but the RTP rules are all based on the QB being in the pocket. Bridge scrambles for about the entire width of the field all together. That's why that hit would never be penalized as late, if Bridge remained in the pocket that hit is late regardless of where the contact is on his body. On that play he's a runner, sure he can still throw because he hadn't crossed the line of scrimmage but he had lost the extra QB protection from the scramble. The head contact is a penalty on any ball carrier.
  13. Those are the plays that can be booth reviewed along with called offside penalties to determine which team moved first. O'Shea could have challenged it.
  14. The CFL has always been shy about judging intent. They need to. Most other sports do. Hockey does, match penalty. I'd kick a guy out for any blatant intent to injure. Whether it's a head shot or a dirty late or low tackle, hits out of bounds etc. Edem's hit on Wolitarsky late, low and out of bounds towards the end of the first half would fit the criteria for me.
  15. The weird thing was they called it a lateral and then changed it after. Probably hoping the Bombers would recover so it would be autoreviewed. I don't know how they can call it an incomplete forward pass 20 seconds after. The ref has eidetic memory and had his own replay in his head?
  16. Good thing they have replay. Need to use it for more than turnovers. We got jobbed on that lateral that would have been a 20 yard loss. Replay would have had the Riders punting from their endzone.
  17. 6 defensive penalties on both teams in the whole game and 2 of them on back to back plays on the Rider drive after the Bombers got up two scores to put them on the one-yard line. No special teams penalties in the entire game. Favourable reffing for Sask, great we could overcome that.
  18. Agreed. Liked how they used Streveler, could have done it a bit more in the first half. He's such a weapon and he opens up space for Harris. Sask clearly was on edge whenever he was out there.
  19. Disagree it was cheap. Should have been 15. But they missed it because it was a marginal hit on a runner. Jeffcoat didn't launch himself. He went up shoulder to shoulder and Bridge's head dropped when he chucked the ball. There's no intent, they all need to protect their damn heads though. That hit is as dangerous for the hitter as the guy being hit, wish guys would tackles with their arms and hit/tackle at the waist.
