  1. The AAF contracts were void the minute they closed shop. Very basic principle of contract law is that if one side does not live up to their obligations the other party is not bound to their obligations. The AAF is not providing the opportunity for the players to earn money playing football, therefore contract is worthless.
  2. BCFC has produced way more CFLers. Has any Rifle made the CFL directly aside from Jordan Matechuk?
  3. What is the AAF or trustee going to do? Initiate court action to stop someone from earning a living? The AAF is a non-factor at this point.
  4. Rasheed Bailey has been on NFL rosters since 2015 and has never played a regular season game. Bet he wants to play.
  5. It didn't say who would be eligible based on territory, just that the league would compile a list. I'd hope they'd make the shift from the previous rules for junior players (who are now draft eligible) to a system based on where players played minor/high school football.
  6. What a load of BS. Weeks before a draft they change the format? I agree with territorial protections but it should apply equally. Should be a round prior to the draft where each team gets to claim a player from their territory. This system just rewards poorly managed teams. And there should be at least a one year period before any change of this magnitude is made.
  7. How would that even work? The AAF season was like 10 games. Buy the contract now they are playing 18 games? The contracts are also USD. The players would have no obligation to go along with it either. They aren't property.
  8. Here’s something the league needs to fix...making the playoffs and winning a playoff game COST the Bombers nearly $500,000. That’s absurd. Playing road playoff games is an expense for teams, it shouldn’t be.
  9. Filling the pipeline is a good idea. Making a deal like they did last year would be a good option as would picking guys that might take a NFL shot but could be back later this season or next. I personally don’t believe we are without holes in our roster. Our D needs bodies, guys like Briggs and Jones may only have a couple years left. We can use a OL, everyone is a free agent every season now too so not a bad idea to have some guys developing always.
  10. Ambrosie has cut the league staff (people who run the business, not faces) to a size not seen since the late 90s when the CFL was on the brink of folding every off-season and also taken on this CFL 2.0 crap in the face of CBA talks and crises in three markets, two essentially without ownership. It’s bad. There’s a very real possibility that veteran players aren’t in training camp, and a lot of management types will have a decision to make on whether or not they want to run a camp of rookies. It’s a complete joke to run a Euro draft at this time.
  11. They should all draft soccer stars. With the second pick in the CFL Euro draft the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are proud to select from Portugal and Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo. Maybe if they get that minimum salary up to $70,000 CAD they’ll come over!
  12. Comparing 200+ pound professional athletes to children is a new low. At least compare apples to oranges, not apples to F-18’s.
  13. Nah he’s a wannabe Winnipegger. From somewhere in Ontario, came here to work for A-Channel or maybe a radio station before that. I think his wife is in Saskatoon, she used to be on radio here too.
  14. Isn’t Dennis Parks also the name of the guy who sang O Canada in Vegas to the tune of Oh Christmas Tree?
  15. Based on what we know I venture a guess that this league is both way below the margin it needs to make ends meet on operations and severely under capitalized ($$$) to start with. Dundon said he is willing to kick in $250 million but that’s $250 million cash. I don’t think he’s interested in watching that money go away for good.
  16. Sounds like the NFL game would have been day before a Rider home game, so pretty much impossible to pull that off. Bombers don't have a home game until Banjo Bowl following the proposed date (August 23),
  17. Good revenue generator, maybe attract some tourism to the city as well, Packer fans who have no hope of setting foot in Lambeau. Logistics could be annoying mid-season, Bombers have home game August 15 then Banjo Bowl, so shouldn't be too bad.
  18. I'm not expecting much from Thompkins. TBH I think there's a better chance of Simonise and/or Petermann taking a big step this season if given the opportunity, much like Wolitarsky did. I like the versatility in the non-imports we have too, especially Wolitarsky and Petermann, those two could line up anywhere and get it done. I don't expect Simonise to see much action inside but he has everything you want in raw talent for a boundary WR. Demski has his role as a playmaker, I wouldn't even call him a receiver necessarily. I think Nelson could be a good slot too.
  19. He couldn't even win a starting spot on a 3-9 NCAA team as a tight end. LOOKS like a game changer, terrible in agility drills, sure good 40, didn't bench, average in jumps, average with pads on. He told all the teams that interviewed him that he's targeting 225 as his playing weight, so he's likely to be a little faster with a bit less bulk, not sure that helps him change direction quicker. I don't think he's in the top 5 receivers in this draft. I would hope we'd end up with a decent OL, there are a few who could compete to play this year and if we go OL in the first round we will get one. I really like Desjarlais and Wilkinson from Northern Colorado I'd also like to see the Bombers take one of the receivers in the first round, why not look at starting 3 if we have the guys to do it? Then in the second round I'd be leaning toward defense, DB or DL. Also potential there to draft a guy who's heading south and take the risk on that. I think there's a high likelihood we get guys that can play for us in the 3rd and 4th rounds so I wouldn't be too afraid to gamble. Generally I like the best player available approach though.
  20. RB's and LB's. Nothing notable. Kalinic ran drills as FB type, potential to be that guy in CFL. I think Lyles can be a useful player in the CFL, but nothing he can really show in the combine environment, put up decent numbers, good mid-round value pick. LB group is really bad. Receivers/DB's: Gittens is great. Doubt he's available when the Bombers pick. Osei-Kusi, fast but beware of hands. Brutal 1 on 1's aside from one double move. Could not catch any slants or outs. Lenius-Dickey, think he'll be a decent slot if he takes on blocking role, crap route runner but big and reasonably quick. Really liked Julien-Grant SFX, big (thick more than tall) and smooth. Good hands. Quick transition from catch to run. Hunter Karl from Calgary very solid. Nothing jumps off the page, just consistent, smooth, catches the ball. Shai Ross is an insane athlete. Hands and route running questionable, quit on a few routes and gave up INTs in 1 on 1's. I'd take a chance on him becoming a great special teamer with some coaching, maybe a move to DB, late-round. Dearborn DB out of Carleton, like a more athletic Loffler. Not sure how physical he is at full contact, but man can he move, no trouble sticking with any receivers today. Liked Busby and Lee too, guys who could be corners. Jamie Harry best DB at playing the ball, showed a lot in coverage, played a lot of safety in CIS. Lots of DB's here that will play.
  21. Just watched the OL/DL one on ones. Really impressed with Wilkinson Northern Colorado, Williams U of M and Desjarlais Windsor. Williams has tackle potential, but all of these guys most likely interior guys in CFL. Disappointed with Saxelid UNLV and Thomassin Laval, although both probably still go first 3 rounds. DL group is not very good. Griffiths from UBC very technically sound but not much burst out of his stance, will have no issue holding a gap. Potential to be decent rotational guy, might be the type someone would try to flip to OL because he has great feet, just not very athletic and not really stout enough to be a nose tackle, looks like a guard. Bunch of guys in this group that have DE bodies but DT athleticism. Start eating. Smith from Laurier only standout among the DE's. Lachance from U of M quick out of stance but standing up by third step, recipe to get knocked on your ass against better competition. EDIT: Forgot to say, the internationals in this group were absolutely brutal in terms of football. Their testing numbers don't stand out as being as awful as they looked in the drills.
  22. Pissing contest between league and an agent that only penalizes the teams and the players. Somewhere a commissioner could step in.
  23. It should take at least 2 years to change any rule, probably even more. Changing the rules every off-season and even mid-season is a significant part of the problem. Maybe if the rules were the same from one year to the next the application of them by the refs and command centre would improve.
