  1. as a bomber fan, when I think about this week's game I feel like Rocky Butler has pitched a hammock on my grave. This isn't just a trap game, this is a 12' deep tiger pit complete with dung-encrusted punji sticks kind of game. buuuutt as a CFL / sports fan I like the drama of the nothing-to-lose snake-in-the-grass Elks vs the lots-to-lose Blue Bombers. This is exactly why I watch the game.
  2. I don't know anything about developing QBs, but I think that Crum has done better than expected for a QB3 starter on a terrible team. Has he got a CFL future? Would he be a good QB2 anywhere? Main knock that I see on him is the huge sack numbers .. how much of that is a leaky OL and how much is on Crum? yup. inter-divisional play is the only way to judge which division is better. mysteriously, all the Redblacks' wins came at the expense of the west. They were 0-9 in their own division but were .500 against the West. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  3. Dinwiddie is tempting fate with Kelly still playing. Ottawa has Pigrome out and he ain't distinguishing himself.
  4. Knee injury. Typical Redblack football. Score a go-ahead TD and then kick out of bounds, give the Argos super easy field position, and blow the lead.
  5. I'm not sure I've ever seen a player get ejected for spitting before.
  6. There's a long Free Press article about Lori Pierce's cancer fight here: https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/2021/07/16/bucks-team-survives-brutal-life-blitz?utm_source=view-in-browser&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign= She's tough as hell.
  7. hell yeah -- this is one of my top ten bomber plays of all time. gotta mix in the Milt Miracle, some plays from the 2019 and 2021 playoffs, the 1984 Mikawos Grey Cup killshot TD, the Michael Gray interception in 88, Deon Beasley ending Casey Printers' career in 2010, and now the Parker Pursuit from last week. might be a fun offseason project to pull all those together into a youtube.
  8. Agudosi also triggered my positive memories of Grey Carr -- a big gangly receiver who can turn 50/50 balls into 75/25 balls and who has a real smooth ten-yard stride...
  9. I wasn't behind the bench -- I was in the last row of the lower bowl behind the Lions bench, and when the giant wall of blue rose up on our 3rd down stop I realized my mistake. Next year will be in the Blue section! BC Place has been an awful place to watch Bomber games for me. In the 2016 WSF and the 2017 regular season game the Bombers were anti-clutch, blowing 10+ point leads in the fourth quarter both times. hell, in 2013 we blew a lead to lose in BC Place, which is remarkable because I don't know how often in 2013 we actually led a game. In fact, I've seen eight bomber games live since I moved to the West Coast. They were 0-7 in those games before Friday. That win was even extra sweet for me because I've been waiting 20 years to see a Blue victory live. Needless to say, that Rhymes reception gave me a trauma response and Parker is now my favorite Bomber. He was channeling the spirit of Joe Lobendahn there!
  10. I expected great things from Agudosi, the way Collaros likes to sling it downfield I figured a giraffe like him would prosper in game action. but for whatever reason, that didn't happen. ADS might be another Terrance Frederick -- when I saw TF play I thought the Blue had a real gem of a find. But he was cut in the offseason.
  11. remember the dark days of 2013 when the Redblacks couldn't even find someone to draft from us? (and I have no hard feelings towards Desjardins for pointing out the reality of the situation; our talent level was brutal then) Now our cuts are immediately popping up on other clubs. why the hell did we cut ADS? dude looked like a real asset. Or was he a practice roster poaching?
  12. Solid response, but yeah, this did not look like a dude who wanted to discuss the virtues of Colin Kaepernick. speaking of, there are Kap -> CFL rumors around Montreal right now.
  13. coming home from the game on Sunday, I told the US border guard that I was up watching the Bombers beat the Lions. the guard admitted he knew something about the roster rules in the CFL. "Up there you gotta play Canadians but in the USA, only the best players play!" he said. What I thought of saying: "Yeah, the NFL works just like the US Border Patrol: only the best of the best!" What I said instead: nothing.
  14. a weird thing about 2023: With the Riders, Stamps, and Elks all cratering this year, the CFL interconference record is 17-12 favoring the east. Doesn't happen very often that the east is better than the west. There's only three more interconference games left to play so "east wins" will be your final result.
  15. Is this the video you're talking about? couldn't find any such videos on bluebombers.com. this is fascinating stuff -- I never noticed that the Bombers only ran counter plays to the left side and never to the right. and the part at 2:25 is pretty funny.
  16. After the first half I was thinking the MOP was VAJ's to lose. 250 yards passing at the half -- he was filleting us. But yeah. Brady O was special tonight. We fed him and he feasted. Just loved that package that put him out in space as a receiver.
  17. At the game. The University of Washington marching band is playing here. They're up from Seattle too!
  18. I'm going to this game! Just got my tickets.
  19. that's some vintage Kerwin Bell play from Dolegala. Go on a garbage time rampage and pull within one score with 0:10 seconds to go.
  20. Saskatchewan secondary has been awful lately. Like 2005 Bombers awful ... so bad I feel kinda like a bully for laughing at the gr55's clown music comment.
  21. so this post made me curious and I did a little research: the odds are with the Argos -- in the past ten years, there have been 18 Grey Cup finalists and 14 of them were division winners. The exceptions: * 2021 (the Argos lost the EF) * 2019 (the Roughriders lost the crossbar game.) * 2013 (the Stamps and Argos both lost their divisional finals) The worst all-time collapse of this nature is the 16-2 Eskimos of 1989, who got sniped in the west final by the Roughriders, who went on to win their second title stripe in franchise history)
