that'll open up the RPO down the road....
-
Season on with brady snowplowing for five! let's goooooo.
-
I'd be surprised if Strev is our short yardage QB ... Wilson was fine in that role last year.
-
aw man, we got Suitor and not Lapo. booooo

things I'll be watching tonight: D scheme -- How many down linemen will we use? Who's getting the reps? How will we trade off pass rush vs. coverage? BC running game and backs -- am anticipating BC will counter JY's match coverage with wheel routes and draw plays. I think Butler is a better back than Stanback right now, so I think BC has upgraded here. like everyone else, super curious to see what kind of offensive scheme they've cooked up for Streveler.

we had the exact same roster frustrations last year and our D was four points a game better than the next best D in the league. and for all the talk of us clinging to veterans, I see we've moved on from Bighill and Alexander -- both super key veterans and leaders since they've been here, guys who were absolutely key in our GC victories. think I'll let them play the games and then judge.

2024/2025 CFL (non-Bomber) Off-Season Thread

We lost Streveler around Labor Day last year ... we had at most half a season to get Wilson some game reps and IIRC we only had one game against Edmonton that had significant garbage time where we could have put Wilson in. The rest of the games were 100% dogfights and all were must-win to get the Western bye. The very bad early record in 2024 and the Streveler injury really forced us to put all the eggs in the Zach basket and left us real vulnerable to a Zach injury. -
The CFL as a whole really de-emphasized the pass rush in 2024. Bombers rushed three on a ton of downs last year. Maybe a reason why the DL looks thin?

if only my younger self knew that if I learned to placekick really well, that someone someday would make a video where they fed me delicious potatoes and gnocci. ...I think I would be in the conversation for best ever pro football kicker. he's right about potato salad too. -
Huge loss. Sly and his family were ******* amazing. He was the Prince of his day, a guy who could play anything better than you, a guy who took influences from everywhere and made them his own. And his live shows were pure fire.

also, I think Streveler gets a lot of shine from the fanbase because he's got a backup QB halo on him, and we will definitely see how that halo fits on Thursday. Back in 2018-2019 he was making plays from the pocket just like a "real qb" .... but that was a long time ago. me personally I'm rooting for Ford to take that next step because the CFL always needs more young QBs. We got a few real promising ones right now with Rourke, Alexander, and Brown ... would be happy to see Ford on that list too.
-
I think the MBB answer to this question is that Strevy didn't have significantly better coaching -- particularly last year when Buck mistook him for a snowplow and got him hurt early in the season. We'll see if that take is for real on Thursday night.

Betts vs. Ford was kind of the perfect storm of Suitor hype. Two massively talented Canadians who get by on their athleticism chasing each other around the field...

Caleb Evans

some strong hands there from Geno Lewis. looks like a touchdown to me too, Glenn.
-
on cue, real nice intermediate route and throw to Addison.
-
I like the wire camera angle on the kickoff return. You can see the holes and the blocking so much better from that angle.
-
Milanovic-Litre count? he's not a quarterback.

hell yeah! there's my lock of the week! I don't think I've ever had a hit in Lock of the Week before. Good vibes intensifying,

another Life Is Good moment: CFL+ rejected my VPN last year but it's working fine for this game. (I'm in the USA but this game is supposed to be blacked out on CFL+ here) this might be the good vibes talking, but I like the look of the new TSN scoreboard bug. Clean and small and uses bold flat colors. Go RedBrowns!

Perfect summer day here, got the windows open, breeze flowing through the house, takeout burritos and hefeweizen on the table, gonna jam with my band later tonight ... and the CFL season is starting. Life is good.

if you're a nerd like me you might like the 2025 CFL Guide and Record Book I just found online. It's jam-packed with information, way better than trying to look up historical stats on the CFL website.

Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

hard for me to complain / second-guess about the D. For all the hate on certain players, we were by far the best in the CFL by points allowed. We gave up 4 points a game less than the next best defence (which doesn't sound like a lot, but that's a huge gap over an 18-game season) And we were middle of the pack with giveaways, so we didn't get those good D numbers because our O always took care of the ball. -

is Holm more suited to safety, where he can use his ludicrous range to make plays wherever they're needed? Or is he lacking something that would make him a good safety?
