  1. not sure how much of the above actually happened, but its no surprise the Jets turned down the offer for 22. They had tunnel vision for Stanley.
  2. Defenses knew what to do with Willy, and pretty much every other QB we've had for years - just bring the house, watch him stand there like a deer in headlights, and then break through and sack him or watch him throw an INT. Nichols is getting the ball out to the receivers so fast that the same defensive strategy defences have employed against Winnipeg for years just isn't working. In the CFL, if you have an accurate QB who gets the ball out quickly, with a decent OL that can open holes for a running option, you have a good chance of success on offense, as it's a huge field and receivers get a running start off the line. Nichols isn't getting sacked, so he's not fumbling. He's making good decisions with the ball, that you would expect from a veteran. Couple that with a defense that is on fire, and you get four wins in a row. I just hope there is no mental layup in Regina. Keep the foot on the gas guys.
  3. what I find hilarious is that this actually seems pretty left wing in nature. Imagine being able to screen out immigrants who don't embrace gay rights and gender equality? Isn't that the dream of every freedom hating state should control every facet of our lives leftist? And the foreign policy realism - isn't that also left of even Hillary? Don't all leftists hate war, and hate the US for always meddling in foreign governments? Why is he being mocked for that? Especially by the Left, who seem right now to be pretty steeped in hypocrisy, purely because they have to have a Democrat in the White House at all costs.
  4. when I saw it I figured that Loffler went at Carter purely because the defence knew all they had to do was get Carter angry and he'd be useless the rest of the game, so when Loffler saw Carter had the ball and was going out of bounds it was the perfect opportunity to pop him and presto, Carter pretty much disappeared after that.
  5. Look out Daniel Day Lewis if Bond ever decides to go into acting full time.
  6. Who could use him though? Other than the Riders?
  7. Talking about 1988 - go to the 6:41 mark and see what I'm talking about, and why 2016 is reminding me of that team...
  8. This team is totally reminding me of 1988 and 1990. The offense was putrid but at least they didn't lose games with dumb turnovers. Things would be looking bleak and then boom, a turnover/pick six and the game is turned right back around, just like last night. Moe Leggett jumps the route to Lewis that Glenn had fallen into a trance throwing to (Glenn is pretty predictable, if something is working for him, he goes to that well over and over again) and the whole game just flipped right back the Bombers way. I know some here keep saying "that's not going to happen every game". Well no, but it sure seems to happen a lot, and as long as the D line is pressuring the QB you are going to get interceptions. Which is why the 1980's Bombers defences were such ball hawks too.
  9. Yup Chip Cox handed Winnipeg the FG that made it 22 - 18 and then Bowman gave the Bombers 25 yards on their long drive that ended in a TD. Two veterans who should know better that cost their team big, though it didn't help that KG went into his familiar shell in the second half and did absolutely nothing, before firing a perfect pass into Loffler's mitts to seal the game.
  10. I was sure their center also got called for holding Westerman on one play after Westerman moved inside in the second half - Matte I believe his name is.
  11. Whoops - I forgot to put in an entry this week. Is it ok to pick Messam? Or am I too late? I was going to pick him anyway.
  12. Watching the game again in a less inebriated state, I was surprised how sloppy the TSN crew was as well as the graphics guy. Several times during the night, a "Macho Harris #3 - DB" graphic would pop up announcing that Macho had 33 yards of rushing and 53 yards of receiving and 15 touches (something like that). I expected them to correct the mistake during the night but they never did. Apparently according to Duane Forde Taylor Loffler is now from Kamloops. Forde also announced after Harris' second fumble that that was Harris' first fumble of the season. Really? After he had fumbled already in the same game? Several times Montreal would have the ball on their own side of 55, yet the graphic would state they were on Winnipeg's 34 yard line. Gord Miller kept calling Winnipeg "Montreal" and vice versa. Just sloppy stuff. Methinks the boys were out hitting the town the night before. Can't blame them I guess.
  13. I'm pretty happy with Orridge. It's a tough job and definitely there are easier challenges to take on out there. I don't know what to blame regarding the Lions attendance going in the toilet, other than there just is no pride in the team like you see in smaller centers. And there are too many other distractions, whereas in Regina, Winnipeg, Edmonton the football game would be the biggest thing going on. I've always been critical of the lack of support of the Lions in BC., but I guess its just because the apathy about the team I see here so often is so foreign to me. I would guess the same is true in Toronto too. Another big issue with Vancouver is that its now become "cool" to be a Seahawks fan, so that's what everyone is doing now instead of going to Lions games. We need the Seahawks to go in the toilet for a few years and the bandwagon jumpers will be back.
  14. You should hear my stand up routine about Ovaltine.
  15. I thought we did, or did I just dream this?? http://teamusa.usahockey.com/page/show/2426917-2016-u-s-men-s-national-team-roster
  16. so in other news, I hear Bilukidi might be done with football. Anyone else hear anything? I got this news hot off the presses...
  17. so you are saying he's like having a toothache and really bad hemorrhoids at the same time but at least he's not ebola.
  18. Saw Def Leppard in 1988. Surrounded by a sea of mullets. Saw them again in Kelowna in 2005. Once again, surrounded by a sea of mullets.
  19. I'm pretty sure I saw the Crash Test Dummies at U or M perform long before they were famous, while visiting pals during Christmas break one year. Might have been around the same time frame.
  20. not that I remember. He might have been on the David Letterman show that day, who knows. I do remember the sign at the gas station said "Home of **** Assman".
  21. Tyrone Jones clone?
  22. and I knew when I saw that a Hip thread was started by Mr. Dee, that there would be a bunch of pictures of PM dingbat included with pictures of the Hip. The link to the article was the icing on the cake. Sorry, but I am on several other websites including political ones and this was the third site with a thread titled "Tragically Hip Concert" and yet it goes exactly to this same form - picture of Gord Downie, picture of a vacant-staring Trudeau at the Hip concert, picture of Downie/Band, followed by heart-warming picture of Downie and Trudeau embracing followed by this standard script: The Hip concert was on last night and ZOMG!!! did you see Trudeau was there, and yeah it was sure great that we could watch them one last time and pay tribute, and ZOMG!!! did you see that part where the lead singer guy (what's his name again?) was talking about how great Trudeau is!!! ZOMG that was so awesome and he's so dreamy and stuff!!!!!
  23. ha one time I made a special detour while driving from Calgary to Winnipeg just to fill up at his gas station in Regina.
  24. The funny thing about the Hip was that if you wanted to see them when they toured the US it was easy to get tickets, and they'd get small draws - from what I have been told by people who have seen them live in the US. They truly are "ours", unlike other Canadian bands like the Guess Who or Neil Young, who Americans don't even know are Canadian as they were so popular in the US too.
