  1. He didn't practise today, so I'm not sure where you get OK from. Tell me it isn't MOS' statement.
  2. A 3rd string QB would be signed as a QB and only 2 QB's are allowed on the roster at one time. Therefore, you can't roster him as a QB. If you could sign him as an OL, you could roster him, his passport would matter, and he could play QB, but then why would you ever sign a #3 QB as a QB?
  3. Any player can play QB, RB's and Receivers can take direct snaps too, but that's not the same thing as rostering a 3rd QB. QB's have special rules as I've quoted. If a Canadian QB is a Canadian when he starts and a Canadian if he's rostered as a 3rd string QB, why would any team ever roster a Canadian QB as QB2? Roster an American QB as QB2 and the Canadian QB2 as an OL or any other position so his passport matters. If QB1 goes down, just use OL designated Canuck QB. One QB could hold the other be the 3rd down QB.
  4. Article 5 says only 2 QB's & only one on the field at a time. If teams could dress a third QB, they couldn't be designated as a QB. That would circumvent the rule that QB's can only play QB and the only one QB on the field at a time parts of Acticle 5. Last season MOS said we couldn't roster Streveler as anything but a QB because we'd designated him as a QB and couldn't change that designation once it had been made at the league level. (I can't find a rule that says this, but I believe MOS.) If it were as simple as rostering a 3rd QB that wasn't called a QB, a lot of teams would roster a 3rd string Canadian or Global QB because they don't take up a DI. All it would cost is the worst Canadian or Global player on the roster and that's way less of a downside than needing a QB and having to use a receiver or DB. Using Streveler as an example. We sign him and put him in as the 3rd QB/DI. Now he can play at the same time as Collaros & he can play QB/RB/Receiver. We could even start him at one of those spots and keep the DI designation for some other player. All of that is completely against Article 5. Using Rourke as an example. As a Canadian, you could roster him as the 3rd sting QB without giving up a DI spot & he could play any position & he could be on the field at the same time as Reilly & he'd be on the roster as a Canadian instead of as a QB. This is obviously not the intent of the rules. Logic and CFL rules don't necessarily go hand in hand. The Canadian player rules for example. Personally, I don't think that QB's should be a separate designation. The rules should be x Canadians, y Americans and z Globals. Let QB's play any position & let more than one of them be on the field if the coaches choose to, but all of that is against Article 5.
  5. I don't want Streveler if it's only for two games... unless some other team like the Riders (Spit Spit) want him, then we need to out bid them.
  6. From Article 23 of the CBA: The way I read the above: QB's aren't designated as an American starter, therefore they shouldn't be able to replace them during a game.
  7. I looked at the rules. There are only 2 QB spots. Once you declare a player as a QB, they can't play another position. There's no specific rule about bringing a QB in as a DI but I doubt you could roster a QB as a DI. In short a QB takes a QB spot on the roster and there are only 2.
  8. Things we learned: 1. We don't have a backup QB we can win with. 2. Maier is better than our backup QB's, likely better than BLM. 3. Our 3rd string RB is better than Calgary's 3rd string RB. Maybe it's really the OL, not the RB. 4. We're not invincible. We need to play the full 60 minutes.
  9. Cooper's still around as the back up RB.
  10. Both teams want to set the tone and neither team wants injuries to their starters. I expect a competitive first quarter followed by pre-season like 2nd - 4th quarters. I'm hoping for a close score so it's interesting to watch.
  11. Harris took them down the field for the score that would have put the Als up by 2 scores. It's not his fault that the RB fumbled. Stop chugging the hateraide.
  12. Collaros went without playing for more than a year and still looked good, so a month isn't that big a deal IMO.
  13. I still think it was the right move.
  14. Folks are way overplaying the OL issues. Some hurries. No sacks. We had a full complement of receivers and RB's. The game was just too fast for McGuire. That happens to most first time starters. He needs to play better than that to give us any chance to win.
  15. I'm not giving up on McGuire, but that doesn't mean I think we can win a playoff game with him starting. He's not there yet and may never be ready.
  16. Patched up or not, the OL gave McGuire enough time and opened holes for the RB. Montreal didn't even get a sack.
  17. I'm not sure why anyone's surprised or upset. All we needed to do was get out of the game without any injuries to starters and we did that. McGuire looked like a QB getting his first start. Bad decisions. Bad throws. One set of downs where he looked like he knew what he was doing. The rest of the time he rookie'd it. Next week he should look better. Cooper played himself off the team IMO. That performance was as bad as any rookie performance and Shaq's no rookie. I'd like to see Collaros get enough reps next week to get comfortable, then pull him so he can't get hurt. Today's game showed once again that Collaros is the difference maker. No Collaros = No Playoff wins for us.
  18. I'm really looking forward to seeing what McGuire has. Good decision to give him this game, even if we lose.
  19. I think Montreal will be better this week. Harris will have more of the playbook and will have worked with his receivers for an extra week. He missed a couple of easy ones, including the Bighill pick that turned the game in our favour.
  20. Both feet were OOB before Bighill destroyed him. We've all seen that kind of play called RP tons of times. No surprise that the ALs wanted a penalty.
  21. I've lived in Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, and Merida Mexico. The only one I'd go back to is Vancouver, but I can't afford it any more. My next move is out to Nova Scotia when my wife's parents no longer need us. Just bought a nice piece of land over looking the bay of Fundy.
  22. Before Collaros - 3rd in the West, 4th overall = Mid-Tier.
  23. The O line's been good for several years. We went from mid-tier to dominant the day Collaros made his first start.
  24. No other coach could have 5 consecutive 10 win seasons because no other coach except Ritchie lasted more than 5 years. (Ritchie got 5 years + 7 games)
  25. Start and end the season earlier. Games on Thursday through Sunday before the NFL starts. Thursday through Saturday after the NFL starts. More game nights, less triple headers. X Canadians, Y Americans, Z Globals. QB's are treated the same as any other player ratio wise. Teams can dress as many or as few QB's as they want. Longer work days, more contact practices. No divisions. Top 2 teams get a bye. 2 & 3 get home games. 2 plays 6. 3 plays 4. 16 game season. Every team plays every other team twice. Saturday playoff games. Sunday Grey Cup. 2 year contracts with an NFL window. Teams retain rights of NFL window players who have another year left on their contracts.
