2022 Off Season - Back 2 Back Champs Edition
TBURGESS replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
5 Years seems fair. In the meantime, paid less than CFL minimum and off the books seems unfair. -

If that's the case then how long do you wait until you get measurable results & how long do you pay them below the CFL minimum? IMO if you're going to keep Global's you should at least pay them the same as the rest of the players. That means minimum for most of them, but allows for paying more for better Global's. -

Has this so called new revenue stream produced any measurable results yet? Maybe the idea is to create 2 spots on every team that are paid less than the league minimum, which isn't in the player's interest. -
Clements took Brocks team to the GC and won it, something Brock was never able to do. I'd put Clements @ #2 behind Ploen.

So do I, but I don't think you should get a point for kicking the ball through the end zone. You don't get a point for kicking it through the end zone on a kickoff, why do you get one on a miss FG? My idea is: Make FG = 3. Miss the FG and tackle returner in the end zone = 1. Miss the FG and put it out the end zone without being touched = 0. (Match the Kick Off rule) -

When was metric tried? I've been watching CFL since before Canada went metric and I don't remember it. Searching CFL 'Metric' Field only gets discussions of the merit of idea. 100 Meters, 10 Meters for a first down. No complicated math. The .9 yard difference doesn't matter because both teams have to play by the same rules and everyone involved will get used to it pretty quickly, just like any other rule change. -

If we're going to change the field size it should be to 100 Meters. Uniquely Canadian. Still 110 yards. My personal rule change never gets brought up: Missed FG that goes through the endzone without being touched = zero points. Allows for missed FG's to be run back, but doesn't reward misses with a single point unless you can tackle the returner in the endzone. IMO the CFL is going about this all wrong. The rules are great as is. Changing rules won't get more fans in the stands or more fans watching on TV & that's what the CFL needs. -

No love for 5 Guys? Great burgers, lots of toppings, great fries. Happy happy joy joy for any burger efficienado. -
Our kickers proved they couldn't get the job done last year, which is why we brought Castillo in in the first place.. Maybe they get better. Maybe they don't. It's a problem unless one of them works out. That's not sour/angry or negative. It's just a fact. This regime has made tons of mistakes in the past. They've had 1 great season + 1 great playoffs. That doesn't make them infallible.

I'd go Hill then Murphy.

Gotta say, I'd go back to Vancouver in a heat beat if I could afford it. Love the weather. Not as much rain as I was expecting and the city shuts down the 2 days it snows each year. Beautiful City. Great food. Great parks. Go to the beach in the city. Walk everywhere if you live downtown or take the skytrain if you don't. Skiing in the winter. Trips to Seattle or down to the warehouse stores for my wife whenever we wanted. It was paradise for us. I wouldn't move back to Winnipeg if you paid me.

If the player is one of ours then a DUI or getting caught with PED's in your system is fine. Players from other teams with similar situations are pieces of crap with low moral character who would never be welcome on a MOS team and should be suspended right away. It is known. It is the way. -
There are no rules for jersey's for me. Be a fan what ever way you want to. Even if you wear another teams jersey I'm OK with it. I wore Bomber jerseys in pretty much every stadium in the league at one time.

Just gotta give you a on a Joe Pop jersey. One of my favourite players back in the day.

2022 CFL Free Agency(Rumors/official signings)
TBURGESS replied to Nolby's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I never heard about it, but If I had, I would have mentioned it and all heck would have broken on these boards. If Harris had signed with us, it would still be a fact that wasn't blabbed about in the papers or online. -

TBURGESS replied to Nolby's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'm someone. I feel it was strictly about the money. I'm discussing it. If Harris was really willing to sign, hand him a pen and he'd sign. If not, then he wasn't really willing to sign. Disrespect is the excuse/justification. You can call that calling him a liar if you want, but understand that's your word not mine. Nothing is offensive and no one is saying it is. No one is telling you what you can or can't discuss. No one has any problem with the discussion. Some of us are simply pointing out that Bomber fans are just like Rider fans when players leave. Last year, no one talked about Harris not being in shape or that his head wasn't in it or his personal problems or losing MOS' trust (Why was he even talking to MOS anyway? He should have been talking to Walters) or his lack of practice (He didn't need to cuz he's a vet) or anything negative at all. He was the home town hero who got us to back to back GC's. He was worth every penny of his contract &, he needed to be re-signed to retire as a Bomber at all costs. Saying anything else would get you 3+ days of arguments. It's not just about this article. Rumours started last month about Harris' attitude & work ethic last year. 20-20 hindsight would say that's when we should have known that Harris was done with the Bombers. The media machine was already gearing up to the Bombers moving on from Harris. Fans are lapping it up. -

TBURGESS replied to Nolby's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Not even being the highest paid RB on the team is the disrespect that Harris is really upset about. The Bombers had to sign the other RB's first. If they don't get that done, then they need Harris back and the offer goes up, which works in Harris' favour. Saying you were willing to sign a contract that you didn't sign doesn't mean anything. If he was really willing to sign it, he would have. -

If that's true, then folks are focusing on the wrong things. When a star leaves a team for another team, stuff will be said that wouldn't have been said in the past. Info will be 'leaked' that shows the star in a bad light. Folks will 'remember' things that show the star in a different light. Fans who are upset try to pull the star off the pedestal and find 'reasons' that moving on is OK. For Harris it was get less than 130K and retire in blue or 165K and play for Toronto. We all know his decision and good luck to him.
