  1. Sorry. Not acceptable to me. Sorry, you're not being realistic. Everyone makes mistakes. No way around that. Since we all make mistakes and for that reason don't you think if a call is made that could potentially affect the outcome of a game the ref who is responsible would want that call confirmed? Why would he make that call when the issue was a matter of perception and most importantly had absolutely so effect to the end result of the play? I know it's the rule but so are all the holding, illegal blocks and even roughing the passer that are never called. All calls could potentially affect the outcome of the game. You'd have to confirm every call that was made and every call that wasn't made to see if A) it was the right call and if it affected the play. That's simply unworkable. You have to trust the folks you hire, check their work after every game and correct the mistakes that are correctable.
  2. But Adams is allowed the yard from the line of scrimmage. He CAN move. Unless you're insinuating the rule should be changed? No I'm insinuating that he moved off the LOS. He's more than a yard away from the line judge when the ball comes up and the LJ should be on the LOS to get the right angle.
  3. We're at the same point, but with one less game to play.
  4. That's right. Glad to see you finally 'get it'. Hire the right people... create a winner. Hire the wrong people... replace them every year or two.
  5. We won 6 games in the first half of last season. We've won 5 games since. If O'Shea doesn't get us into the playoffs, then it's time to replace him with someone who can.
  6. The refs need to get better for sure. To do that, we need to fund them better, get them better training and have a better path to being a CFL ref. Basically take it from a part time job to a full time one. On the No End call, the line judge shouldn't have pointed while Adams was still in motion. He should have waited until Adams was set before giving his OK. Once the ref indicates Adams is on the line, Adams shouldn't be allowed to move. Simple to do. Simple to fix. Unfortunate that it had to happen in the first place. More challenges isn't the answer. Allowing the coaches to challenge this call wouldn't have resulted in a reversal IMO. The replay would have shown that Adams was off the line and would have said the ruling on the field was upheld. They needed the footage of the ref pointing while Adams was in motion and talking with the refs involved to decide that it wasn't the right call. There are more than enough stoppages of play already. The idea that 'penalties that don't affect the play should not be called' is fatally flawed. It's not OK to cheat if it doesn't effect the play. It's not OK to grab a receiver if he's away from the play or to go offside if you don't get to the QB or if you don't get the ball thrown your way. It's not OK hold or clip or block below the belt just because it's away from the play. Most of the penalties are the players fault and are totally controllable by the players.
  7. Sorry. Not acceptable to me. Sorry, you're not being realistic. Everyone makes mistakes. No way around that.
  8. The alternative is to realize that mistakes will be made and to live with the outcomes like we've always done in the past. The bad call cost us 5.5 yards and a first down. Other bad calls in the past have cost way more than that.
  9. Then switch up the receivers and go after him with Moore, Adams and/or Denmark. It's not rocket surgery.
  10. Pretty damning when the VP of Officiating has to make a statement like that. Not sure how it helps us now though.
  11. Refs paid off so Winnipeg would lose to Calgary in a game that means nothing so all those folks who bet on a nothing CFL game could make lots of money or so Montreal could cross over? Dumbest conspiracy theory ever! It cost us a better shot at a FG to put the game into OT and if LH had made the 50 yarder, it wouldn't have made much difference at all. Some time off the clock and a small chance to score a TD for the win.
  12. I can't believe we couldn't do anything offensively after Calgary lost Simpson and Burnett. That would be like us losing Adams and Bass or Westerman.
  13. I just want to see the best players play so I wouldn't have any problems removing the NI starters rule. The CFL is the CFL because of the rules, not because Johnny Canuck pulls on a jersey and runs down the field on special teams. There's a huge problem for all teams to find 7 NI starters and most NI's are only on the field because they are given the jobs, not because they earned them. I don't believe it would affect the CIS at all. The best CIS players want to play in the NFL. Those players who want and deserve a pro football contract would still want to play, even if there weren't 200 guaranteed jobs available in the CFL. Most CIS players will never see the field in any pro league anyway.
  14. NFL PR Salary is a minimum of $6000 (Approx $8000 CDN) per week or $102,000 (About $136,000 CDN) for the entire year. Muamba looks to have 13 games played so he has 1 year of PR left. NFL 1 year player minimum salary = $510,000 (Approx $680,000 CDN). $225,000 per year = $12,500 per game. There are 6 games left so a total of $75,000 plus signing bonus. I can see waiting out the year to see if he can catch on in the NFL this season, which would give him a better shot at making it next year and getting the big salary.
  15. Coordinators don't count against the cap. Funny, but I was talking about O Lineman, Receivers, and RB's.
  16. Still starting 8NI's? Cronk still on the roster? Cole off?
  17. I'm over the Muamba chase. He won't make any difference to our playoff hopes this year and he wants a big signing bonus which eats up SMS room we could use to extend players who we want to be here for the next couple of years. Now that we have Wild, our need is reduced for another LB and it's significantly cheaper too. I'd take the money we'd have used for Muamba's salary and use it to try and upgrade our offence for next year instead.
  18. I certainly get what's in it for the teams but the Players association would never go for it because it reduces the value of players coming back from the NFL. Ya, I understand the concept of a matching offer, but CFL teams would mostly just back away rather than up the price of players coming back from the NFL. From a player standpoint... Why tie a guy to a team for 5 years when they have no choice in which team they'd be tied to? The current rules are one of the big reasons that you can't build through the draft like you can in other leagues.
  19. If you really believe that then I don't know what to say... You admit you didn't read the whole thing and then you also assume that travel days are a day off? Guaranteed they are practising the maximum amount they are allowed to. Too many people stuck in the past where coaches in their mind are supposed to be a ruthless task master. That doesn't work in professional sports anymore. Your reading comprehension is as good as ever. I read section 6 practice times and it didn't mention travel days. I'm not assuming that travel days are a day off. Lots of folks around here have said they are, but that doesn't make it true. Your guarantee that they are practicing the maximum amount of time doesn't mean anything and it's frankly wrong.
  20. I did a quick look at the CFL CBA (https://media.cfldb.ca/documents/cfl-cflpa-collective-agreement-2014.pdf) to find out what the practice rules actually are: Article 6 - Practice times 6.02.5 - 1 a day practices during the season. 6.02.6 - 6 or more days between games players get a day off I don't see anything about a day off after a travel day, but then again, I didn't read the whole thing. It looks like we aren't practicing the maximum amount of time that's allowed in the CBA. If we were winning or even well prepared then this wouldn't be an issue, but we're not, so it's a problem.
  21. Durant or even Glenn could have turned Regina's season around. They'd have won at least some of those close games. I glad Glenn didn't come back a week earlier or we'd only have 3 wins this season.
  22. That's really too bad for Collaros and the Ticats. I hate seeing good to great talent go down to injury. I hope he comes back next season fully healed and ready to go.
  23. I like this signing. I thought Wild was our best defensive player last year. Leggett back to safety? Simmons cut or IR'd? Hurl relegated to rotation guy?
  24. We lost big time to one of the 4 worst teams in the league. The game was over by halftime. Our only 2 'drives' in the first half were aided by Montreal giving us 5 first downs via penalties. One of those penalties gave us an INT back.
  25. Yup. Almost a third of the season left and two teams within a game of us but hey, lets just shut er down.. Unreal. As I said Pretty much everyone knows we're done. You're the exception that proves the rule I guess. Only one of Skn, BC, Wpg and Mtl makes the playoffs. We're 2 points down on Montreal and they have a game in hand. We play Calgary and Edmonton in the next 2 games. Any guess what the results will be? Montreal gets SKN next week and should be 4 points up on us with a game in hand. Ott the next week is a better chance of a win for them than Edm for us. We could be officially out of the playoffs in 2 weeks.
