Chris Jones to Saskatchewan Roughriders confirmed
Yep I believe the good DR.CFL called this one a couple days ago before anyone in media was talking about it Indeed good call. I hate to say it, but i LOVE what's going on in Saskatchewan right now. I hate it... because it's in Sask... I'd love it if it were here... On another note... if Sask has dropped Craig Smith... we should try to get him ASAP... fire McManus or Goevia, doesn't really matter to me.... lol why? Craig Smith is horrible. The only team that has brought in worse talent than us import wise over the past number of years.

Should be a good management team to turn it around for them. That being said, even Hufnagel + Murphy didn't win the Grey Cup every year.

The BEER thread
We both were huge fans of that stuff! We have plans to get you guys a box of the good stuff once our new breweries start popping up since we didn't get a chance to hook up again with you guys and repay the favor. We actually went back to Ray's and tried a good half dozen of the beers you brought that very same night. Some unbelievable offerings in there ... Star Cheek, Maiden, Woodsman ... unbelievable stuff, I'm very jealous. Our selection is really dwindling out here, I've started straying from my typical preferences to try some other stuff. I'm going to Kenora this week so I'm going to check out their LCBO and see if I can bring anything unique back from there as well but man ... we need to step up. Working on trying to get someone I know out in Vancouver to ship me some stuff even. Finally blew by 200 different beers on Untapped though - so there's that. Best beer I had all weekend? Delirium Noel. Get it in that Christmas pack if you can - it's a good one.

LaPolice new Bombers OC
Your post makes absolutely no sense at all. Dangerous precedent?? Coaches leave teams all the time for promotions. Its happened many times, only difference this time is the Esks crying about it. We let Ritchie Hall out of his contract to go to Edmonton to be the HC there. We let Kent Austin out of his contract right after we won the grey cup to go coach in the NCAA. Many examples where this has happened. Its pretty rare to see a HC with a contract leave for another team. Hall's move to Edmonton was from assistant to head coach. Austin was leaving the league. Neither of these are the situation Jones was in. Its considered a promotion because of the GM title and so that's why it was allowed, but employed head coaches moving to another team is actually pretty rare. Let me get this straight here. Going from Head Coach to VP of football operations/ General manager and HC is not a promotion in your books? Jones is accountable only to Rider President Craig Reynolds, he is in charge of everything. AND doubled his salary. In my mind I would say that qualifies as a promotion. Nowhere in his entire post does he say it's not a promotion. What I think he's saying (and what I'd agree with) is not that the Jones move should not be allowed, but that any moves like this in the future should at least be tied to some compensation going in the other direction. I understand your position but ask why is this any different than any of the other moves? Because of the effect it's having on the franchise you don't cheer for.

If Walters pulled that off, I'd go down to IGF and take him out for some beers. Saw him at the Grey Cup gala and let me tell you - he doesn't need "some" - one or two is probably enough. Love that guy though. He's awesome.

I'll say one thing - I'd rather have Lapo than be searching for guys like BC and Edmonton are now stuck doing.

He's been fired as an offensive coordinator once, just for the record. I'm not going to run him down for the job he did for us as a head coach because frankly, it has very little to do with being an offensive coordinator. The thing about coordinators is that unlike a head coaching position, you can make serious strides in re-inventing yourself. What we need is X's and O's and what can be brought to the table on that level can evolve. LaPolice has always been an offensive genius as far as building a playbook, he's got a great mind for how to build little wrinkles into a successful offense to make it unique and give defenses different looks. His problem has always been game management and the ability to call plays. Unlike being a head coach, where it's almost a matter of "if you've got it, you've got it and if you don't, you can't learn it", play calling can be improved upon substantially. Even the best offensive coordinators in the NFL have been fired for being terrible. Look at Josh McDaniels - he was magic with the Patriots, then did an awful job as the head guy in Denver and wasn't asked to return in St. Louis. Look at Norv Turner. Minnesota is the 6th team he has been OC for, despite never lasting more than 3 years anywhere. I'm not sold on LaPolice either, but I look around the CFL and see a real lack of options. My guy was Marcus Brady, but he doesn't seem to have been available and even he was a question mark. All I can hope for is that LaPolice evolved from his previous mindset. He has better personnel to work with this time around, that's for sure. And I'm sure not going to write off the efforts that he has made to improve himself just because Bellefeuille did the same thing and turned out to be a dud. Go Lapo. (For now)

If I'm Jones, I'm not rolling with Durant as my QB. No way.

Goosen Reups Till 2018
I think that's pretty cool that they recorded him announcing the extension. I wonder if they're going to have him announce that he's taking over Picard's job when they cut him.

Then I'm sure I won't like it.

I don't know if I like it - the CFL one, anyways (can't view the Bombers site right now, it's down)

Cortez among OC's on Bomber wish list
Even if what you're saying is true, which it isn't, what value does saying it (for the umpteenth time, no less) add to any conversation around here? We get it. You're miserable. Move on.

Cortez among OC's on Bomber wish list
Whenever people complain about Lapolice, I keep going back to the fact that the last time he was here, he was scheming for a very underwhelming quarterback. I keep going back to the fact that people criticized him for playing it safe, but that only seemed to be when Pierce was QB - Elliott used to be able to sling it and attack defenses just fine. Here's where I'm at with things - If we hire Lapolice and he calls plays for Willy like he did for Elliott, we should be in for a pretty decent offensive attack.

I wouldn't go in on Laurent unless I'm absolutely positive Bilukidi isn't an option. I'd rather have Capicciotti

I'm not a fan of the scouting either, but let's be honest - they also got Cotton, Marshall, Daniels, Bruce Johnson.

I don't think you technically HAVE to allow anyone out of their contract for anything but a promotion to HC. Doubt Khari has a deal beyond December 31st, so maybe he just wants this month in order to try and sort his own **** out.

Cortez among OC's on Bomber wish list
You don't think the starting qb should be heard before hiring an oc? The team should be run by management, not by the players. Asking Willy for his opinion of coaches he's worked under is fine. Asking his opinion of coaches he hasn't worked under... not so much. Giving him a yay or nay? Nope. What are you even arguing, nobody has suggested what you're arguing against. And if you think they don't consult franchise QBs before making hires that directly affect them, you're sorely mistaken. Is it the final, deciding factor? In some cases. Not in all.

Cortez among OC's on Bomber wish list
You should. The CFL is a constantly evolving league. Would you want Wally Buono as a head coach these days? I sure wouldn't. Why? Because the game has passed him by, and there's an argument to be made that the same thing has happened to Cortez. Cortez wouldn't be my first choice. Like I said ... if Willy likes him enough, fine. But I'm wary of hiring him.

The only way I'm board with a Cortez signing is if Willy is. He would know. But I'm not particularly fond of Cortez lately. One thing worth considering - O'Shea really wants Maas and Ottawa said no, but I'm pretty sure Maas only signed a one year deal as an assistant, therefore his contract would be up December 31st. EDIT: nvm it's a 2 year
