Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
To continue to pile on Streveler The Bombers are 7th in the league is TD drive percentage at 16.8%. Montreal is last at 11.6% Streveler was 4/16 Week 2. 0/1 Week 5. 1/8 Week 7. 1/7 Week 8. 1/13 in week 9. 0/4 in week 14. So overall that is 7/49 so... something like 14%... the only offense worse than the Bombers with Streveler at the helm is Montreal and their pu pu platter of QBs they've trotted out this year The Bombers are SIGNIFICANTLY better with Collaros at the helm. Whether that is a change in playcalling to better fit Streveler, or because of his knee, or Collaros is just that much better is up to debate. Sure he is 2-0, but getting those wins against a BC team at home coming off a bye when Rourke is known to have the yips against the Bombers, and then against Toronto when Special Teams and the Defense were playing out of their minds (Jefferson had the highest rated PFF game ever if you are into that metric) is a tad misleading.

Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
The frustrating thing for me is that you know what you have with Streveler. Wilson has been around for more and a season and a half this point. The only QBs who have seen any playtime that are have been worse than Streveler are Morgan (MTL), Masoli (BC), and Walker (CGY). The only QB who has a depth of target less than Streveler is Morgan. Streveler is the only QB in the league who has more than 1 red zone intereception despite being 13th in overall passing attempts. It's not even like he is doing anything with his legs... him and Collaros are neck and neck in rushing yardage, but Collaros has 6 runs of 10+ yards vs 1 for Streveler. If Steveler can't get the job done, and you are unwilling to go to Wilson... what is even the point of having Wilson on the roster? To run the short yardage game when Collaros inevitably gets injured and you don't want to have Streveler do it while he is QB1?

Yes he is 2-0 as a starter but the Lions didn't exactly look like world beaters in week 2, and I don't know how much credit Streveler can take for week 9 with Vaval picking up 2 touchdowns, the defense scoring and 4 Castillo FGs. You aren't going to lose many games when you put up 40 points but generally the offense is putting up more than 7 of them. In the almost quarter and a half he was leading the offense yesterday, the only time the ball was inside the Saskatchewan 40 was while it was in the air into the waiting arms of a Rider DB or Returner.

3DownNation is hit or miss IMO in some of their coverage but this made me chuckle https://3downnation.com/2025/09/06/winnipeg-blue-bombers-lose-banjo-bowl-zach-collaros-against-roughriders-12-other-thoughts/

https://www.bluebombers.com/ticket-swap/ I've never utilized it but AFAIK you call up the office and say you want to exchange your tickets to ones in the last two games and they make it happen, and your tickets go back into general sale. The frustrating thing with Willie is that he has shown flashes the past... 8 months. The Grey Cup he was lights out. In Week 9 he earned the highest PFF rank they've ever given out. And then who do you replace him with? At least some of the other underperforming veterans you have someone who can slide in or they are actually blocking someone better... which is probably a huge part of the problem.

Collaros wasnt playing great but at least he was able to run some plays inside the SSK 45 yard line. Looking at the play by play in the second half the offense had a 0 yard run by Brady at the 40 and Streveler threw a pick scrimmaging from the 43.

I think they would have to screw up EXCEPTIONALLY hard to not sell out the last two games. Huge season ticket base means there isn't a ton of inventory to sell plus the aforementioned party atmosphere... And those last two games are STM ticket exchange games

What more information do you need? He tore his ACL Last year. He came back, really ahead of schedule from most recommendations for ACL tears, less than 12 months. He plays a couple of games, has a non-contact injury on the same knee and is put on the 6 game. He appears again, wearing a brace, makes it through a couple weeks of practice, and the vast majority of a game and now is out for the season, and likely until labour day next year best case. O'Shea has come out and was like, yeah he tore it again in Calgary. The ACL provides stability in the knee joint but they try to augment what he has left with a huge ass brace. The medical staff tells him he probably can't do any additional damage. Schoen says he accepts the risks. O'Shea feels that a gimpy Schoen is the best option in the WR Corps. Schoen is a professional athlete, those cats are wired differently. Someone needs to be the adult in the room and protect him from himself. Whether it's the medical staff saying that this is dumb AF and refusing to clear him, O'Shea saying I know you feel you are ready to go but you need to take care of yourself, or Walters overruling them all and pulling the plug. Everyone likes to tout FIFO as some kind of positive mantra... but this is the negative side of it. Players putting their own health at risk and ultimately hurting the team long and short term. There have been WAY too many instances of players playing through significant injury and snookering the team.

If this were true there'd be some ******* in green in a picture at field level with a sound level meter and it would be all over social media.

Anyone notice that the Depth Chart the team has on their website has Schoen on the 6 game? No corresponding transaction yet but RIP I guess

What is the point of bringing in Houston and the extra eyes because of his situation (yes he was cleared by the authorities but the CFL ruled he DID violate the violence against women policy) and have him sit on the PR? Especially with Vaval as the main returner because Logan can't get right while also playing 50+ snaps on defense. What is the point of having Woods and Adams on the PR when you are going to cut the one DT in the league who is worse than JT and bring him back when someone who couldn't crack the opening week roster got 6-gamed?

2025 CFL (Non-Bombers) Season
Depth Charts for Friday are out and with Ottawa desperate for a win to keep pace in the East and trying to make up distance between themselves and BC in the crossover Dru Brown is sitting out with his knee injury again

3 turds plus ch coaching never fails to fail
It would have been nice to have had Grant last year but Vaval has been more than serviceable this year... part of his recent spat of maybe not looking gamebreaking has to do with taking 40+ snaps on defense as well as returning.

For some reason it seems like OCs think a 2nd and extra long draw will work because it is so unpredictable... No sane person would call a draw needing 20+ yards so they will surprise the defense and pick up the first down.... But it has to be the most called play in that situation, no one is fooling anyone with that play call.

Not going to win many games when you give up 16 points on turnovers and have 4 less sacks than the other team but they made of game with it. Mitchell with at least 2 2nd down conversions (and one that was called back on Demskis) OPI and then passing game looked pretty good overall all night. Brady must be frustrated with the lack of touched but everytime they showed Collaros winding up for a pass it seemed #20 was in there picking up a rusher so he still had a huge affect on the offense. Defense overall didn't look too terrible outside of that quick fire drive in the second that ended in a 69 yard TD. Too bad the game ended with Castillo fighting at the bottom of the pile for a ball or it could have been really interesting Please Schoen be okay or back the brinks truck up to wherever Wilson is holed up

Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
To me that read tongue-in-cheek... People complain about O'Shea's unwillingness to move on from Thomas but when the team does move on from a veteran (Wolitarsky) people complain, so damned if you do damned if you don't even though if we had a straw poll about if we had to pick one it would be 100% to Wolitarsky. And with Wolitarsky... it does take two to tango. It's clear to us all here that he would have been the #3 Canadian Receiver behind Demski and Clercius so how often would he be getting on the field? Bombers are having issues with depth right now but you don't necessarily expect that and I can see why he would want to be in a position where he is on the field more often than not. Obviously hasn't played out the way he wanted with picking up a hamstring issue and BOO looking more or less competent

2025 CFL (Non-Bombers) Season
This is for sure the way. Kids tickets are quite affordable. I've been taking them to games for 3 years now. They love biking to the game, hanging out in the pre game area getting their face painted and having the bouncers and games around to play. Everyone in our section is very friendly and there are lots of high fives to be had. A lot of the kid friendly concessions are inexpensive. The ability to bring our own single serve snacks is great. I used to bring devices to keep them occupied into the second half when their attention started to wane a bit.. some games with earlier start times would help with that but I've even weened them off of that. For entertainment bang for you buck it is right there are you are going to be there 3-4 hours easy. Taking them to the movie if you don't get the Costco deal is going to be $20 a head for 2 hours. Rec Room you are going to burn through that probably an hour. Even Hide n' Seek is about $20/head for however long they last.

Can we make the joke that Lauthers baby is going to be delivered to his neighbours driveway or would that be in poor taste?

Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
Wolitarsky had 5 2nd Down Conversions last year in 10 games. Over his career with the Bombers he had 80 in 96 games In 2022 and 2023, Schoen had 81 in 34 games... I can only see stats for receivers with more than 350 yards for 2024 so don't know how many he ended up within 2024 in 51 games with the Bombers, Lawler had 76 Demski in 76 games had 82 FWIW Dillon Mitchell had 22 2nd down conversions in 2024 which is more than Wolitarsky had in any season

Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
I guess you can call 2 500+ yard seasons over 6 seasons 'consistent' if you squint and say that he was on pace for that last year... before he got an injury in week 14... that kept him on the IR until Week 10 this year... and had him record absolutely 0 stats in weeks 10 and 11. He's always seemed the type that will produce as a 4th or 5th option, where the Defense has to account for the Lawlers, and the Schoens, and the Demskis or the Adams of the world, but if you are asking him to move up to even that #3 spot you are looking for trouble.

Former Bombers in NFL (and spring leagues) news
Interesting. My source is a couple of Packers blogs saying that he does qualify https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/2025/5/19/24433214/green-bay-packers-news-taylor-elgersma-international-exemption-2025 https://thepackerspost.com/packers-made-a-smart-move-by-signing-qb-taylor-elgersma/ Weirdly enough in the Wiki entry to the IPP it states that "Some of these criteria have either changed over time or there is some discretion applied during the selection process, as not all the athletes that have come through the program in the intervening years meet all of the following criteria." so maybe there have been some changes or maybe those blogs are just misinformed.

I think Elgersma also gets helped a bit by the International Player Pathway... because he is a Canadian out of USports I think that the Packers can get an exemption to keep him on the PR where he doesn't take up a Practice Roster slot.

Are we just assuming this? Everyone is projecting them to carry just two QBs so definitely not making the AR but I thought GB wasn't announcing cuts until Tuesday
