Yeah this year was the turd in the punchbowl, for sure. We certainly got lucky that many other teams were dealing with their own punchbowl problems. They still fought and came out on top but were, unfortunately, exposed in their final games against the East. Can only hope this will be the ultimate wake-up call for the org.

Yep...we sure could have used a bit more dink and dunk today...although the few times we tried it it didn't work out so well. Bad throws...bad hands...well covered

I'm not so dense as to not recognize the ultimate goal is to win the Cup...but...I can't can't consider a season where the fans get to see more wins than losses, get to experience a quality product, have a great time and the team wins their division and makes good money...as a failure even if they don't win the ultimate game.

The scary aspect is that none of these guys want to pack it in and if they have a coach that is loyal to a fault and will let them come back...that's a bad combo. When I saw Bighill saying he wants to/will come back all I could think was if that's what he wants you can bet O'Shea will likely let him without even having to fight for the job in camp.

Honestly...I don't know. O'Shea strikes me as a guy set in his ways. A "dance with the one that brung ya" kinda guy...even if logic says it's detrimental. The odds of him getting canned are pretty freakin' slim so that aspect of the team dynamic may be locked in for the foreseeable future. So any player/coaching changes may have to be forced from above...and given that we're hosting a Cup game we have now lost 3 times in a row there may be more pressure/incentive to do just that. All I know for sure is I have zero control over it...won't sweat it...but will hope that management is motivated to make any changes necessary.

It's a shame the 3 cup losses overshadow what has been the best 5 years of football this organization has delivered in decades. Yeah it sucks losing the big one but I've had loads of fun/enjoyment watching this team play the last 5-6 years. Changes obviously need to be made but I'll be damned if I'm gonna let this loss ruin what was a great come back season for another division title and the overwhelming success we've enjoyed over the last several years. As someone old enough to remember the entire length of the drought (and no cup for Deiter) the last 5 years have been like a dream. Hopefully the org will make the needed changes to put us over the hump next year and we take it all at home.

Eskimos call themselves Eskimos...so they are being derogatory at themselves? You choose to look at it as negative/pejorative...that's your choice, of course. It could also be looked at as an honour. Incorporate it into the teams celebrations bringing more attention to a culture most know little about.

Perhaps you should tell Eskimos to stay away from the word Eskimo I've seen it suggested Eskimo is a slur...it's obviously not. If Edmonton wants to call themselves the Edmonton Ukrainians I would be pleased as punch and would make up a big batch of perogies for the occasion. Pretty sure Eskimos can advocate for themselves...they don't need the help of white people.

That was, without a doubt, the most sycophantic display of broadcasting (Nielson/Suitor) I've heard since Bob Costas called the Jays 2 World Series runs. Absolutely embarrassing.

Perhaps I've seen too many movies in my day...but I can't help but think if the Riders wind up coming to town they're gonna be a little psyched out after the way the boys beat Montreal. No matter how rational one is there has to be a bit of "divine intervention", "meant to be" in the back of your head. And if/when things start going sideways for them that feeling may only amplify leading to forcing things and making it worse. I can see it messing with their heads.

It really is a shame for a once proud/dominant team. I enjoyed the Manitoba/Calgary trash talk and rivalry with my Calgary relatives ever since I was a kid but it's no longer a major source of conversation because they simply don't care anymore. A pity, really.

I have a lot of family in Calgary and I can confirm that they have the sense of...if the ownership doesn't care...why should they.

Because there is honestly & literally zero consistency to whatever criteria they use to decide whether or not to get involved...and it's utter b*llsh*t and even if it isn't, it reeks of favouritism. Pride goeth before the autumn...or something like that.

A commissioner can do/say whatever he wants but nothing brings in fans more than having a competitive team. And we can see the reality of that in attendance figures this year. The Bombers were a different animal in that even tho they were sh*tting the bed early on they had the benefit of the faith and goodwill generated over the last few years of success. Win games and they will come.
