Oh I know. It's not like some magical coaching is gonna give him the gift or reading defences or improve the amount of time it takes him to process that info and turn him into a franchise #1. But...with the right coach I could see him improving his mechanics, even at his age. He's the kinda guy that would/could commit to putting in the work to make the change...and wind up as a serviceable backup somewhere. If I'm not mistaken it's been mentioned here more than once that The Blue aren't really known for finding and developing QBs

Given what I said previously it'll be no surprise if I say I hope you're wrong. That kind of heart-on-your-sleeve passion is infectious. I hope he comes to camp, fully healed and shows...something.

Right...and truth is, whether it's what he wants or not, it's not like anyone is likely to be banging down his door to be a starter or even a #2.

Man, I really wanted Strev to be the guy. He's so likeable, personable, passionate and leaves it all on the field. To paraphrase Picard who paraphrased Melville, "If his chest had been a cannon he would have shot his heart upon it"...but alas he is not. He just looks lost out there. Hanging on to the ball too long and when he does finally pull the trigger you wind up suffering a minor coronary damn near every time. He's so likeable I feel bad for even stating obvious truths about him...but he just doesn't measure up to any other backup in the league. Will never forget the fire, passion and role he played in the Bomber's Cup wins but, in the words of Sinatra, "And now, the end is near".

Who else should he be looking out for? This thread is full of comments chastising MOS for clearly not caring about player safety for a career that can be incredibly short anyway...so really if you're not looking out for yourself and the best interest of you/your family who's gonna do it for you?

At a time like this I'm reminded of the many times the team won a close game and you or someone else pointed out flaws and people would chastise you/them for not just being happy with the win and how "good teams find ways to win close games"...when...in point of fact...good teams are constantly analyzing, adjusting, critiquing and improving so there aren't so many close games.

MOS is an obstinate donkey and the more he talks the less I like him. As a guy behave how you want, I wouldn't care or comment but it's clear that attitude bleeds into his coaching. Well that's weird. Who would expect a bunch of speculation about a franchise QB's injury when absolutely zero information is forthcoming? He's well within his right to not share info but then to whine about people speculating is just being obtuse.

Couldn't help but get the sense that the coaches have lost/were losing the room the way Miss Dort was talking about how "pissed off" Brady was after last week. Anyone else? Just got the sense it was more than just wanting to be more involved/help the team. Also, regardless the helmet to helmet on Zach would the UR category that disallows hits to vulnerable players not fit? Usually it's handed out to hits on receivers who are reaching/jumping, etc...even tho it's not called with any consistency. I've lost track of the number of times I've seen a rec go up for a ball and get submarined and land on his head with no call even tho it seems to perfectly fit the definition.

What's going thru the mind of a guy like Jake? Does he recognize how much he's dropped off? Does he sense he's more a hinderance than a help? Does he allow himself to doubt that assessment because the coaches continue to have faith in him? Expecting him to ask to be sat in favour of someone else is obviously not in the psyche of a professional athlete...but do you think he ever feels a measure of guilt or shame knowing someone else could do a better job for the team? Having never been a pro football player I can't put myself in his shoes.

Unfortunately not everyone is capable of that sort of introspection and change. I look at it from a perspective of what I know (broadcasting/announcing) but I'm sure we could all point to people in our given professions who are just not capable of making changes to their process. At some point in their past they enjoyed a measure of success and decided there was never a need to change. I look at someone like Rod Smith. He is who he is. Someone gave him a job which reinforced his confidence in his style/process and he has never changed his style and he never will. Unfortunately he really isn't very good. He may have been good enough when he was hired for his first PBP gig...but he's never even bothered to considered improving/changing. So we get endless repetition of already mentioned stats/facts and non sequiturs. MOS is who he is. He's had success being who he is. I think he feels confident that his process is fine and needs no modification. In his mind if there's issues they lie outside of him and his process.

No matter how many...or few...years I have left I will fondly remember the last 6+ years of Bomber football. For as grateful as I am for what management was able to accomplish I am equally as disgusted by the Cup game decisions that played a not insignificant role in dropping 3 in a row and the off season/roster decisions that are plaguing them in a year where they're hosting the Cup...especially if they flame out early. One can be appreciative of past accomplishments while still being fed up with recurring tendencies and exceptionally poor choices. It's not easy to reinvent yourself or change your ways especially if that past pattern of behaviour has proven successful but sure as God made little green apples, a man that can't change his mind can't change anything...and Osh doesn't seem capable of changing his mind/ways. That being said...I suspect you're right...especially with continued fan support. I'm also prepared to be completely wrong and gladly watch them take charge the 2nd half of the season and walk away with it all. In which case...statues for everyone!

I may be out to lunch here but it seems to me, apart from some ridiculous decisions the last couple of games, our co-ordinators have come out with a decent enough game plan to get us a good lead by the half. Then the opposing co-ordinators, after having a 1/2 to size things up, make adjustments and come out in the second 1/2 and start chopping away at us...but our co-ordinators aren't able to keep up and make counter changes on the fly. Granted it must be harder to make changes on the fly rather than having a half to notice tendencies...but it's something you have to be able to do if you want to be a pro co-ordinator. So...do they just need more time to grow into their rolls? Are they just not adjusting fast enough/at all? Are the players not able to implement the adjustments they make? Any of this making any sense?
