  1. It was the same 30 years ago. Lots of people played soccer, especially the little kids who in the spring are on the fields everywhere. I just remember the Canadian Soccer League being a total failure even though thousands played the game. My question is why does the CFL want to take on the risk & become involved in a new Canadian soccer league? Some teams can barely pay their bills now. I don't understand the logic for the CFL to become involved here. The CFL needs (based on all the empty seats in every stadium) to grow the game of Canadian football, not soccer.
  2. Number 1 pick.
  3. This is true.
  4. Anyone else lose the TSN feed?
  5. Biggest difference between them is the level of play. Faith Ekakitie has played at a much higher level the past 4 years than Simonise has. Better coaching & much, much tougher competition. Simonise played against 18 & 19 year old corners in CIS & junior. Faith has played against NFL ready offensive linemen.
  6. That we can agree on.
  7. I wouldn't. Not ready.
  8. Probably. As well as Herb Zurkowsky & Drew Edwards.
  9. He always was. He & his agent thought otherwise.
  10. Yeah. That is so true.
  11. Will Sask be happy with him? That's the question....
  12. Might take awhile for Henoc to get his CFL legs back... I wouldn't say he's done just yet.
  13. Maybe Muamba decides to leave again?
  14. Don't hate the guy but some of his decisions & actions, well... He needs to mature a lot quickly or he'll end up losing the opportunities he has. The door to Opportunity only stays open for a short time.
  15. The Argos could share IGF with the Bombers & we'd still sell more season & game day tickets than Toronto does at BMO Field.
  16. When the Fury played at Canad Inns if they got 6,000 it was a great crowd. At the same time it'll never work if they play at Pan Am Stadium. The Bombers want another tenant to defray operating costs so if it meant playing at the old stadium next door they'd never be a part of any soccer team coming to Winnipeg.
  17. I'd pick Gray at 6. Like it was said, he got a $5,000 signing bonus which means the Packers will see what he does at OTA's & training camp & go from there. There isn't a huge investment by the Packers in the kid. Besides, if the last pick in the draft is Mr Irrelevant what does that make players signed as FA's after the draft?? So, I'd take the guy as he's a local product who played at the U of MB before someone else did. Not excited about the Elkakite selection if that is what we do but it may be the best decision Walters makes under the circumstances.
  18. Let's get back to the draft. Will fans be happy if the Bombers select Faith Elkakitie? Is he the best player available? Should the Bombers still pick Gray at 6 if he's available?
  19. It's right next door but who would go to a game in a run down 50 year old venue like that that seats 4,000? Has any money been spent so it has been at least a bit refurbished? Does minor football & soccer use it?
  20. just to be clear. I never called the Rebels Langford. I said they play out of Langford, BC & are not called the Victoria Rebels. They are called the Westshore Rebels. The Raiders play out of Nanaimo & are called The Vancouver Island Raiders.
  21. Like I said, my premise never was his talent. he indeed has that. My premise was questioning the decision to play junior football as really he had more to lose than to gain. I'm speaking injury risk here. Luckily for him, he got thru the season unscathed. if you said that his time with Okanagan turned into a conditioning stint then I'd agree. But I don't agree that he signed with the Sun as just a conditioning stint. He came there to play & pad his stats.
  22. Did you watch any BCFC games or are you just quoting stats? My son coached for the Rebels. I saw a number of his games including their win over the Sun during the regular season & I went to the CJFL Championship game in Langford. The Sun lost their mojo after their loss to Saskatoon. They struggled at times. Yes, they won some games but they weren't the juggernaut they usually were in 2016. They lost to the Rebels in the BCFC Championship game. Now my son has left the Rebels & is the qb coach/passing coordinator for the Sun this season. So I'm hoping that the Sun indeed do indeed get their mojo back throwing the ball & are once again juggernauts in the BCFC for 2017.
  23. My premise here isn't to discuss the abilities of Rashaun Simonise as it's pretty clear he has a lot of talent. I do question his decision making. Risking serious injury for a 3 game stint in junior football, flunking out of university & then being caught for using PEDs that disqualified him for the draft tomorrow. At 23, he should be a lot smarter than that.
  24. Every junior team is a running team in the BCFC. Look at Jamal Lyles numbers last season for the Rebels as he set the all time CJFL rushing record. Yet the Rebels could throw the ball. The Sun could also throw the ball. They did split time with 2 qbs but they still could put the ball in the air effectively. The Sun felt Simonise would add to their air attack & he really may have had one good game where half his stats were added. As a receiver the rest of the time he played, he seemed average to maybe a bit above average. All I know is the Sun seemed to fade out as the season went on whether he was on the roster or not. They suffered a devastating loss to the Saskatoon Hilltops in September & were never the same team after.
  25. Another idiot Trump seal.
