  1. Wish you had an option for Other... I go back more than most of you do. The worst coaches I remember are: 1) Joe Zaleski as he was incapable of working with a young team & getting them ready to play. He was a former qb in the 50's with the Bombers & became an offensive assistant under Bud Grant. He had nothing but All Stars to work with during those Grey Cup years. When all these players retired & he took over it was a case of being in over his head. 2) Jeff Reinbold. A coach who wowed the Bombers during the interview process but didn't have the experience needed to rebuild the team in the mid 90's. He really struggled in the years he was here. 3) Tim Burke. We all thought he was a defensive guru being the best DC in the CFL & the next one in line just waiting for a head coaching position. When he took over we quickly saw that he wasn't at all ready to handle the circus that was the Bombers in 2012 & 13. Joe Mack put his reputation on the line hiring Burke after firing LaPo & it became a disaster. He had no answers to any of the questions, admitted he didn't know how to fix things & looked like he was going to cry most days especially after loss after another crushing loss. I'd rate Burke the all time worst.
  2. You're missing the entire point.
  3. Have to worry about the ball popping out when a back struggles for more yards. That happens a lot.
  4. Well, the alternate Chris Jones said in his interview that if they could have seen Dressler on the field they'd have killed him/
  5. O'Shea was a gambler. Lucky he had Medlock so he knew when to fold 'em when it came to running the ball then.
  6. Dressler was the heart of that Rider team. He knew what it took to win unlike some of the athletically freaky looking guys you have now. Carter, pfft... talk about a headcase. It's all about him.
  7. Look at that schedule of the teams they play... Hamiton, BC back to back, the Argos, Calgary, Edmonton & Winnipeg. He could be gone after Labour Day. When... not if... he goes... he's certainly left behind a #scorchedearth with the Riders.
  8. His last run he really put his head down & knees high. Glad they didn't try to get closer & just kicked for the win.
  9. Think Chris Jones' time is rapidly coming to an end? LOL! Now the Rider fanbase mocks him. Spoke to a Rider fan at Mosaic who said he'll never forgive him for the way he treated Durant & Dressler. Said he's wearing his Als Durant jersey to the game when the Als are in town. He said all we have now is, "Freaking Glenn". No way he can overcome that if he keeps losing.
  10. Man, some Bomber fans here.... They could win $25 million on Lotto Max. Then turn around & ***** they never won when it was $50 million & feel ripped off. Just enjoy the freaking win...
  11. Funny stuff... http://3downnation.com/2017/07/03/chris-jones-impersonator-absolutely-nails/#comments
  12. Who wants to pay anywhere from $85 to over a hundred dollars a ticket on Game Day to watch a CFL game when they can see it for free at home? If you want to sit on the 20 yard line at McMahon that's what you pay. You can buy cheap seats thru Safeway but they're in Section A in the end zone.
  13. I think price of tickets is a problem the CFL refuses to address. Hopefully Randy Ambrosie does that when he officially takes over. It's not so much the price of season tickets but single game day tickets. The CFL has virtually eliminated the walkup. Especially with every game televised. TV is giving the CFL more revenue generally but hurting it at the same time as attendance is falling. There needs to be a price point where casual fans think there's value to attending games & I think they will.
  14. Core of 24-26,000 every game. Older fanbase.
  15. Hamilton doesn't. But I meant that in a general term lumping all together.
  16. Even more than before. The Seahawks & Cardinals are big here. People still vacation in the Phoenix area or have property down there. When the NFL season starts, there are a lot of friends of mine who fly down for games in Arizona or at Xmas, the college bowl games like the Fiesta Bowl. You can bet most of them don't spend a loonie on the Stampeders. The Seahawks are the closest NFL team here so there are also a lot of fans that go to their games. Although, I suspect that the number of fans from Calgary that do travel to Seattle to see the games is less than it used to be due to the horrible economy. The same with the Cardinals. However, the number is still in the thousands for both teams even in a bad economy. The Grey Cup loss just made it worse attracting fans back or getting new ones. The team is viewed as a choker. The players the same. All talk, talk, talk but when the chips are down they inevitably fail. My surgeon who did the surgery on my feet has Seahawks season tickets. He flies down for home games. I've talked to him about the Stamps but he really doesn't care. Which seems to be prevalent here. If it wasn't for CHQR there's be virtually no Stamps coverage. However, like CJOB they have other programming so the Stamps are priority #7 or #8 when it comes to coverage. Gotta have all those infomercials all weekend long. Click. See ya. The Fan 960 is all Flames everyday Mon -Fri with Blue Jays baseball thrown in during the week. On weekends it's ESPN radio so American programming. hey, lets talk Golden State basketball or Marlins baseball isn't that great. I'm surprised they even have an audience those 2 days. The Fan 960 does have a bit of Stamps coverage on Fridays but not a lot. As far as discretionary income goes here, if anyone has money to spend it sure isn't spent on the Stamps. They do have their 24-26,000 core of fans but it isn't growing at all. Having a dumpster for a stadium is another reason the fanbase is dwindling. McMahon Stadium is a pile of crap. People here see the new stadiums in Regina & Winnipeg & want one here but the Flames & City have no interest in building one. Having an old stadium like that is definitely affecting attendance. A new facility for the Stamps is needed badly. Our Mayor is a total asshat when it comes to sports. He is the Supreme Negatron when it comes to anything sports related especially new buildings. Flames want their arena & that's all they care about. Nenshi opposes anything when it comes to new facilities. I think a new facility like Investors Group Field or Mosaic Stadium would totally change the perception here that the CFL is minor league & the Stamps aren't worth supporting. Doesn't look like it'll ever happen which is sad. The Stamps are stuck with a 60 year old facility for a long time.
  17. Why is there a hole in the end zone upper deck stands above the Rider store on the NE side of the stadium? For some reason the architect opened that up. Wind can come swirling thru that little opening. That & the fact if they ever get a strong south wind, it'll be a huge issue. The whole south end is exposed.
  18. Whew! Let's hope so. Same with Hardrick.
  19. I wouldn't call Mosaic a "little stadium" by CFL standards. This isn't the NFL. It has 33,000 seats like ours. Now in comparison, all the eastern teams play in little stadiums. No more than 25,000 in any of them. Those are little. Can't even fill them.
  20. Argos ticket prices??? WTH??? The people making decisions like this in the Argos front office need to be fired as they are morons. Did they not learn anything from the Grey Cup ticket fiasco last year? Man, that is just stupidity plain & simple. As far as the disappointing crowds in Calgary? Get used to it. The fanbase is jaded with great regular seasons year in & year out only to choke in the playoffs or Grey Cups. What's the point of players bragging on twitter or other social media platforms about how great they are or putting other teams down as being inferior (Mitchell) when they flat out choke themselves? Stamps fans don't care if the go undefeated at home or 15-2-1 just to lose to the RedBlacks who were 8-9-1. The dwindling fanbase is angrily jaded & although it may seem unbelievable with all the success the team has had the past 3 decades, but the city is turned off with the Stampeders. Scary thing right now is the apathy. Fans don't seem to care about the team anymore with all the chokes they've served up over the years. That Grey Cup loss has really set the Stampeders back & may have been the straw that broke the camels back. No one wears any Stamps gear in public & no one talks about the team anymore. I think a lot of people have no idea when its game day here. The team does very little marketing. Combine that with a horrible economy with unemployment at 9.6%, a Flames team on the rise & the Stamps are a poor second on the sports radar in Cowtown.
  21. We don't have to pass thru a dozen countries to get there. That's probably why. No border hassles.
  22. You also aren't allowed to go into the north concourse from the Rider store except on game day.
  23. Now all you need are second seat cups so Rider fans can put their dentures in so they don't fly all over the place when they start yelling. Especially at Chris Jones' 3 man rush or the next Kevin Glenn interception.
  24. Ahead of Nichols? No way. Glenn always throws the pass he never should in pressure situations with resulting bad things happening. He's a career backup who is either unlucky or lucky (depending on whether he's your qb at the time) that injuries to starters ahead gave him a chance to play. He's really been able to cash in on a 17 year career based on performances varying from mediocre to average over the years. Everyone knows that Glenn will eventually screw up as it's only just a matter of time. Matt doesn't play a physical game like Reilly does nor is he as fiery as Mitchell. He's more animated than Ray but he doesn't make stupid mistakes like Jennings. At the same time he can't dominate a game like Trevor Harris can when he gets on a roll. But I'll gladly take Matt Nichols as our qb. He's the perfect guy for LaPo's offense. Thanks to Chris Jones for trading him to us for a freaking 7th rounder & a bag of footballs 2 years ago. That may have been the biggest steal the CFL has seen in a trade since the Ricky Ray trade to Toronto. It's the gift from Jones that just keeps on giving.
