  1. You must have watched a different series than me. I just saw Gumby don the pads & mask for Vegas & go in & make flukey saves others couldn't make. Then smirk afterwards. Gumby appears a bit stiff this series, Poor guy.
  2. Those guys moved around. They had the most success not throwing from the pocket as they weren't tall enough to clearly see their passing lanes. They found ways to lose contain every game they played. Defenses couldn't stop them. Most DC's plan that their defenses will play 12 on 11 as most qbs stay in the pocket & barely run so there's not a lot of concern there. With the 3 aforementioned qbs they had to game plan 12 on 12 which is a problem believe me.
  3. To me, guys like Flutie & Clements were great scrambling qbs but the most dangerous qb I ever saw play was Tracy Ham. The amazing things he did on the field... he was just scary good. He could beat a defense in so many ways... with his arm, legs, creativity & overall athleticism. As an opposing fan he broke my heart so many times when he was an Eskimo. He was so frustrating at times. Getting away from a sure sack & scampering for a first down or finding an open receiver downfield just left me screaming at the field from the stands or at my tv set at home. .
  4. You could hardly classify Ham, Clements & Flutie as pocket passers. They scrambled & moved the pocket. They used their legs to extend plays allowing their receivers to create separation. Most great CFL qbs were ad libbers.
  5. Another outstanding ad libber was Tracy Ham. As far as adjusting I think Manziel will. Playing at Texas Tech & then with the Browns he should be able to pick up the little nuances to be successful. Other qbs have done it so the reasonable expectation is that he will as well. The only thing that will stand in the way will be Manziel himself. The amount of video/study time he puts in to learn. It's all up to him as he'll be given the chance & the time. Unlike others who were buried by their own teams behind two front runners.
  6. It appears it may have been when Austin Apodaca was recruited by Washington State out of high school where he was listed at 6'1 & 175 lbs... Apologize for getting Apodaca's height & weight wrong. I know I read that stat but it obviously is wrong. So then, you have to look at the qb situation here last year & why Apodaca didn't stick. The Bombers had committed to LeFevour & Davis. Unless something tectonic happened he was never going to stick with the Bombers. It just comes down to team politics. Apodaca never would have been given the chance to succeed. The Head Coach & OC pencilled in Davis & LeFevour to be their guys. Now all 3 of them are gone. It is what it is.
  7. I'll recheck what I read...
  8. Apodaca has a tryout with the Bills coming up. I think what's holding Apodaca back is his (lack of) size. At 6'1 & 175 lbs he may have trouble seeing through the passing lanes from the pocket. Can a guy at 175 lbs survive the shots he would take as a CFL or NFL qb? I think all teams have those concerns. Especially when the next qb on a pro roster beside him is 6'4 & 225 lbs. .
  9. The plot line will be family struggles after mother thrown under the bus.
  10. Fleury stole the series with the Jets. It's good to see that one trick pony Vegas team down 2-1 & Fleury's sad eyes wondering how that last goal just went in. I'm not watching the series except occasionally I may flick it on for a few minutes here & there. Want the Caps to keep pouring it on.
  11. True but I think he was just too inconsistent even with the lack of talent around him.
  12. Elliott was way too inconsistent. All pro one week. Nothing the next.
  13. Bennett? Isn't he back with the Bombers?
  14. Streveler went out & DID HIS JOB. He did it well so let's congratulate him& let him enjoy the week leading up to the game in socialist BC.
  15. Doug Flutie was a pretty good ad libber as was Tom Clements. The difference between them & the other guys at qb was the fact they could see the whole field & both were very smart players. They both made things happen.
  16. Name me the last "promising" young qb who got shafted?
  17. Horwath & Wynne are talking coalition government. The Looney Left is taking this country down.
  18. The irony is not lost on me, either.
  19. I'm 62, soon to be 63. I need both knees replaced. I walk with a cane occasionally but not always. Both knees totally shot. I put off my left knee replacement five years ago. When I decided to finally do it, I found out that my surgeon had retired. The new doc who took over his practice requires a referral. (What a racket as these guys get money for each referral from the provincial government). Now, I'm going to have to go to the back of the line again. Have my GP refer me once again to a knee specialist then wait for the appointment, set up the date of the surgery which in total could take up to a year (from what I understand) from the time of referral to the actual surgery here in Calgary. Putting it off as long as I can as I'm a school bus driver with no benefits. Medical EI only covers workers for 12 weeks. So, going to wait a while yet before I do it.
  20. What I don't like is when a team is up 45-7 & the starting qb is still playing padding his passing stats. That is wreckless as he could get hurt & the backups get no playing time. That is when I start questioning the sanity of a head coach.
  21. They have to play Nichols & the first unit to get them primed for the season opener. How long they do that for is up to LaPo & MOS. I'm sure they want to see if Streveler is a one game wonder & if Ross can bounce back. I'm not a believer in protecting your starting qb so much that he doesn't play. Nichols has to play & he will. So will the other guys, Colin.
  22. Rider fans would have said he'd have gone 20 for 10.
  23. How many local & migratory birds die from wind turbines?
  24. He was playing against a lot of guys who won't be here in 2 weeks so let's take a breath before we annoint Streveler "The Next One". We're all happy he played so well but let's temper our enthusiasm a bit here & be a bit more realistic.
  25. TSN doesn't care. They are the only network to do the broadcasts. They need competition.
