I don't dispute that as what you said is valid for sure but I think the fence sitters, the ones that want to watch their team play would go. The person who isn't a fan would never go anyway but casual fans would. When a home game is televised people will stay home to watch it. Just human nature, I think.
Not having that area around the stadium that used to be a golf course not made into a parking lot is an issue as well. Every stadium has a parking lot.
I remember that intersection open & there's no way what he says is true. The same here in Calgary with our idiot mayor Naheed Nenshi who along with his progressive colleagues on city council pushed hard for bike lanes saying getting out of the downtown to go south on MacLeod Trail would only take an extra 3 minutes according to a City of Calgary engineering study. I don't have the stats but it's nowhere near as fast as 3 mins. Traffic is slower getting out of the downtown everywhere with bike lanes. Nenshi just lies to the media. I suspect bellamy is doing the same thing or looking at a study like Nenshi did & is quoting best case scenario under perfect conditions that happen twice in a year. Not worse case scenario which is almost everyday.
We weren't 15-3-1 or 14-4 playing far inferior teams in the GC like Ottawa & Toronto? How can you even make the same kind of comparison to what the Stamps did & have done choking more than winning after having dominant seasons? How many GC's have they blown since 1992??
When I lived in Wpg & has ST's I had to leave 90 mins before every home game which made it very challenging getting home after work, changing & having a quick bite to eat. . I lived in Riverview & had to drive thru congested traffic starting at Kenaston & Grant Avenue & inching all the way to Canad Inns. I never gave it a second thought. It was just the way it was. I wanted to go to the games so I endured it without complaint although it was stressful. Never missed a game in 26 seasons. Back in the 70's & 80's weekday evening home games started at 8 pm & most people were happy to have the time to get to the games after work. Today, games start at 6:30 or 7pm & it would be a challenge to get to games after work with such early starts.
