  1. Your memory is failing you. His arm was never average. It was a rocket. One of the strongest ever in all of pro football. He was throwing weighted balls in college. He had his own private way to work out just like Walter Payton had his hill.
  2. Condell would be a guy ready to be a HC. Dinwiddie & Costanza as OC candidates. Ricky Ray as a qb coach. To me,Nik Lewis would be an interesting receivers coach. Why the **** Claybrooks has him as a running backs makes no sense. The guy should be coaching receivers.
  3. I've golfed in February & shovelled snow in September. I've seen it snow here in every month. We went to the Chuckwagons at the Stampede in 1993 & it was plus 2 C. My father in law from Winnipeg couldn't believe we left Winnipeg to live here. We said, jobs for both of us & making money. Those days are long gone.
  4. I haven't seen the forecast today but in South Calgary it's a beautiful sunny day.
  5. How is Campbell a step back? Costanza is an excellent receivers coach probably ready to be an OC. He's coached under Huff & Dickenson for a decade. If anyone knows the Stamps system, it's him. I'd take Nelson over Hall as a DC in a heartbeat. Other than Campbell, the other guys as HC's, no. But Costanza should be looking to move up as a coordinator. He could be a future HC.
  6. There's one more kid that'll never go to school. Never get to fall in love, Never get to be cool.
  7. Should be a walk in the park for the Ti Cats. Should be...
  8. The guy had a rocket for an arm. He was one of the few qbs around who could play effectively against the wind.
  9. I don't think Miller is that stupid but you never know?
  10. I don't care if we're not BC Lions fans but that shot of Greg Kraemer on the cart being taken to the BC dressing room in tears is heartbreaking. The game can be unfair & cruel sometimes. Hope Kraemer can bounce back.
  11. Kraemer out with a knee injury. And the CFL is only going to dress 2 qbs next season. Hey, the quality of the product on the field will always come first. Sure.
  12. Well, have our level of expectations sunk that low? No reason to break up the Ol' Gang as long as have winning regular seasons. Don't winning playoff wins matter anymore?. What's the diff if we have another 10 win season if it means just an extra week in the playoffs?
  13. It was said Brock could throw a football through a fully running car wash & the ball wouldn't get wet. Which was all hype & untrue. In his book, Dieter claimed he once threw the ball 85 yards in practice when he was an LA Ram.
  14. Kraemer was the third string Bomber qb having led the Bisons to the Vanier Cup in 1970. He was the holder for Jonas in 1971 & every once in awhile he'd do the fake FG attempt & throw the ball. He was a pretty decent receiver as well. He retired as a second year player after the 1972 season. No one knew why. He just never came back after that season ended. Big mystery.
  15. He had some weapons like Flanker Thorpe, Herron, Fullback Ed Williams, TE Paul Markle, wingbacks Paul Williams, Pete Ribbins & Bobby Kraemer as well as split end Bob Larose & still was just a 50% passer. I loved Don Jonas. When he was hot, he was on fire. But when he struggled, it was like a cold wind was blowing thru Canad Inns Stadium. Jonas was very much a rhythm qb. If he had a string of completions early then usually he'd play well. If not, he did have struggles with his confidence. He was a high risk, high reward qb always pushing the ball deep downfield. His stats bear that out. LaPo's offense is nothing about high risk, high reward. It's all about spreading the ball around & ball control offense. Jonas could have been a 65% passer in LaPo's offense but he wouldn't have been happy. Jonas was a gunslinger who loved to make the ball fly. Not checking down to his tailback.
  16. I'd like to see Dinwiddie come in here as an OC along with long time Stamps receiver coach Pete Costanza. Those guys know the Stamps system cold.
  17. Yeah, agree on that. To a lot of folks Khari was hot garbage as an OC. It seemed his offenses always struggled. Now he's a genius. Vernon Adams was the key. He found in Khari someone who believed in him instead of that disaster of a qb in Pipkin.
  18. I also remember people here saying Jones HC career would be finished before it started in Montreal. That the Als were a graveyard for head coaches.
  19. Back in the days of Clements playing in Ottawa most CFL passers weren't 60% passers. There weren't a lot of the possession type throws we see now. Quarterbacks challenged the field vertically far more than they do now. If you look at Don Jonas stats in 1971 when he won the Schenley Award as CFL's MOP he threw for 4036 yards. He completed only 52% of his passes with 27 tds & 31 interceptions. Those stats won him a Schenley but his stats were by today's standards, terrible. Football was a different game back then.
  20. Man, I second that! It's one thing to have one shut down corner but 2??? Hill & Browne were just a treat to watch.
  21. Those HOF'ers played right from the time they came to the league to when they left or retired. No one ever said that they needed time or experience to be successful because they were right from the start. They picked up the game from their very first day of training camp their very first season. I think that does show a high level of intelligence in comparison to others who struggled understanding Canadian defenses. No surprise that the players mentioned became HOF'ers but being one was not a prerequisite with my choices. I just think the scoop on Streveler is somewhere in the middle. He's having some difficulty picking up the Canadian game but he's not inept as a qb either. He does have tremendous potential. There's a reason why only a few qbs come up here from the States & find success immediately. Because it's damned hard!! Some qbs with tons of talent just struggle to understand the Canadian game. While others never get it. I also don't think at this time that Streveler's capable of leading the Bombers thru the pressure of the playoffs to the Grey Cup, let alone win it all. Some people here just thought that all he had to do was take over from Nichols & his running ability would compensate for his lack of passing & we'd be alright. Undervaluing Nichols & overvaluing Streveler. Well, it's much more complicated than that.
  22. I never brought up the 30 year drought, 17to85 did. I only talked about the past 6 years.
  23. And so we should. Making the playoffs isn't good anymore.
  24. The problem are his two coordinators. He absolutely Refuses. To. Change. Them. So then, nothing changes. Everything stays the same. And if he comes back next year then nothing will change. It's like we're caught in a loop where everything just goes round & round.
  25. House cleaning may be difficult when everyone in the organization is joined at the hip & are BFF's. How do you fire your bestie?
