Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL
SpeedFlex27 replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It's pay walled, unfortunately. I only got as far as Luck being paid $20 million. -
You won't get any argument out of me. These are all foreign workers with little if no rights. Being intimidated by management into working when in quarantine is criminal.

I'd love to see the 87 Jets playoff run. The 5 game series win over the Flames & the quarter final loss to the Oilers. Even though we lost that was some great hockey as well.

Lirim made a mistake. Didn't handle it right. Most fans aren't Draconian. I think if he would have faced the media & owned what happened that fans would have got over it as would have his teammates & coaches. I just remember it wasn't just the fans & media who gave up on Lirim. Walters & O'Shea did as well. We all know Mike. He'll go to great lengths to protect a player from criticism or scrutiny but he didn't with Lirim. I think Mike & Walters were very upset with his behaviour at the time. Otherwise, he'd have continued playing for the Bombers & he'd have been re-signed. Yes, he was run out of town but I'm happy for Lirim that he went to the Cats & played well. Now, he has his NFL shot. Hope he does well.

The Alberta government finally closed the High River Meat Packing plant.

Not funny. Not referring to you Tracker. But the ass who posted this.

Looking for a Derel Walker sighting.

We may never know the motive.

That's the only way to do it. Some bad **** going down at the Cargill meat packing plant in High River about 35 minutes south of Calgary They went from 38 cases 3 days ago to over 350 today. Eighty per cent are foreign workers with multiple families living in one or 2 bedroom apartment in town. Combine that with working conditions such as having people being elbow to elbow apart on a production line means the virus is spreading like wildfire. Cargill was deemed an essential service by the provincial government so the company refuses to shut down. They supply something like a third of all meat to this country & that is why the AB govt doesn't want to close the meat packing plant down. Employees are now talking anonymously to the media saying they're afraid to go to work, They said that Cargill supervisors are phoning employees who were already exposed but asymptomatic in quarantine telling them they have to go back to work or else they'll be fired defying the 14 day quarantine law. Some of the sick employees are still wanting to work because if they don't they'll miss attendance bonuses. Of course, Cargill is denying any of this has happened & said they have brought in measures to clean the plant more thoroughly & made self distancing easier in the crowded workplace. Cargill said they even laid off an entire shift of a thousand employees to make sure this happens. However, employees are saying measures aren't enough & crowding is still a huge problem. After all is said & done there will probably be a provincial enquiry & I wouldn't be surprised if criminal charges are even laid. Alberta Health Services, Cargill, the AB govt & Health Canada are all complicit in this. They all know what is going on & are turning a blind eye so now there's a serious outbreak going on. The union, townspeople & NDP opposition are screaming bloody murder & rightly so.

2019-20 Grey Cup Champs Off-season discussion.

He went to the Riders & didn't play much or was a difference maker. Just like Fernandez with only 225 yards his last season. They both got by on their reputations. -

Geroy Simon was a great receiver but this is how it works. I honestly liked Murphy a lot better & some BC Lions fan would go whaaaat? I got tired of the Superman Pose after every TD. Towards the end of his career all I wanted Simon to do was act like he had been there before. Nope, we got the Superman Pose every fricking time which knocked him down the list a few players in my eyes. -

I always thought James Murphy was a better receiver than Geroy Simon. -
Lirim didn't say anything. That was the problem. He refused to talk to the media so he left the stadium as soon as the game was over & O'Shea covered for him. That was the last game that he played as a Bomber as he was replaced for the remainder of the 2015 season by Sergio Castillo & then signed as a FA with Hamilton. Hard lesson learned for a young player at the time. I'm sure he'd handle a bad game like he had that day a lot differently now. Nothing like going thru a bad time time to be a good teacher of experience. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/bombers-kicker-lirim-hajrullahu-apologizes-to-fans-for-saturday-s-game-1.3256317 https://winnipegsun.com/2015/11/04/end-of-the-line-with-bombers-for-kicker-lirim-hajrullahu/wcm/bdda34d0-57fc-4e11-8c80-09e89994ea93

That's the thing. The more people that are tested, the higher the numbers will be as to how many are infected. It gives us a more accurate idea of the number of people sick & where.

I used an example of what had happened in Wuhan 2 months ago. People were being forcibly removed from their homes. I'm just saying that I believe other than military & police action a mandatory stay inside order is impossible to enforce. A Calgary business owner living in Beijing said that every night the police come to his apartment building every night. They chain & padlock the building so no one can leave. Then they come back & unlock it in the morning. When he asked the police about being locked in & unable to get out if there was a fire he said they acted like they didn't care.
-
Well unfortunately, a lot of people won't look at it like you & will be angry. I'm all for self isolation, self distancing & closing businesses down like we are doing right now to prevent the cure.m I've been self isolating since March 19th & staying indoors. However, I draw the line on the police & military using force for all of us to stay indoors. If half the population was sick & hospitals were overrun then okay but we're nowhere near that. Right now, Canadians are cooperating voluntarily but take away their democratic rights & I believe that there will be demonstrations in the streets which will defeat everything that has been done by all of us staying home.
-
Then it's a police state & we're no better than China. How would you feel if the RCMP burst into your home & took your wife to an isolation area while you watched helplessly because a gun is pointed at your head? We all saw that going on in Wuhan in January & February. People fighting & screaming while being whisked away in vans by cops wearing Haz Mat suits. Thousands of detention centres would have to be set up across the country. Kids separated from parents. Families separated from one another. Our every move tracked by our smartphones. Once we give up our freedoms then the Genie is out of the bottle. Ninety five per cent of Canadians are voluntarily self isolating. I think there'd be all kinds of violence if Draconian measures are brought in by the federal & provincial governments in the name of public health.

Didn't know anything about it, thanks.

What is the testing rate in Manitoba as compared to other provinces? I think that stat needs to be added in as the number of infected people sure seems low. With zero cases again. There is no way just 250 people are infected in Manitoba with Covid 19.
-
No. If they do that then we'll start seeing demonstrations like the ones in the US. Peoiple will push back & become angry. What's next tanks at every street corner? Having to pass checkpoints & present ID like it's Cold War East Germany? Having to ask Big Brother if it's okay to go out on your deck or balcony? Things seem to be working alright in our country as is. Leave it as is.

And Trump wants to open the economy by May 1st? We all thought this guy with the nuclear codes would destroy the world. All it took to destroy his own country is an invisible virus. Who thought it would be that easy? Trump's new slogan: Make America Sick Again.

The virus is really hammering Quebec. That truly is scary stuff.

2019-20 Grey Cup Champs Off-season discussion.

Fernandez was outstanding. He was a truly great receiver BUT... he didn't have CFL longevity. He left for Oakland after 5 seasons & returned to the Lions 8 years later for one last swan song but he only had 225 yards receiving. Here are Swervin' Mervyn's CFL receiving stats for anyone who wants to know... He played 6 seasons for the Lions (82 thru 86 & 94). He had 399 catches for 6,690 yards & 57 touchdowns. Every year except 1994 he had over a thousand yards receiving including 1,727 yards in 1985. He was probably the most dominant receiver of that era in the 80's so I can see why someone who isn't a Blue Bomber fan would say that. However, longevity has to figure into the GOAT. The ability to perform at an extremely high level for a long time. The two best that I ever saw were Milt Stegall & Allen Pitts. Pitts was cut after 11 seasons in Calgary by Wally even after a thousand yard season to save money. Wally was a total ass that way. To cut (at the time) the CFL's all time leading receiver was just brutal. Of course all know that Milt played every down of his CFL career with the Bombers.
