TrueBlue4ever's memory about his Dad triggered a long forgotten one in my mind. It's football & it's the Bombers but it had nothing to do with any player or game on the field. I was in Grade 12 & in my Business Administration class. My teacher gave us a major project to do. To study a business, how it's set up, etc. How the money flows, the management team, kind of business, customers, marketing of products etc, etc. We also had to do our reports in groups so it was a major undertaking worth a major percentage of our term mark. Something like 35%. I called my 2 football playing buddies who happened to be taking the same course over & said, "Let's do the Blue Bombers!" Well, they were all in & we sat down to plot a course of just how we'd get this done & how to approach it. I called the Blue Bomber office & spoke to then GM Earl Lunsford. I asked if we could interview him on this subject & we agreed. We planned the interview, wrote down a ton of questions & all 3 of us went down to Maroons Road tape recorder in hand to interview Lunsford. He was very friendly, genuinely interested in what we were doing, answered all our questions about the business side of the Blue Bombers & gave us plenty of his time. Like 2 hours. IIRC, he seemed to be getting as big a kick out of talking to us as we did to him. Anyway, a great meeting & we took away a lot of information we used in our project's report. The next executive that we wanted to speak to was then Bomber President Paul Morton to discuss how community ownership works. That interview didn't go as well as Lunsford's. I was on time but my 2 partners never showed up. So, I sat in Morton's office doing small talk while waiting for the other 2 who never came. Morton was growing impatient so I decided to forge on ahead on my own after about 10 minutes. Luckily, I had my tape recorder so I asked all my questions & some that I made up on the fly & left after about half an hour. Morton was helpful but not as outgoing as Lunsford was. He definitely was not impressed that my 2 friends did not show up. When I think back, there I was with long hair, jeans, runner & a tee shirt talking to a multi millionaire businessman looking like a bum. Then my 2 compadres never showed. It's no wonder he wasn't impressed. I just remember his expensive suit, huge upstairs office at his movie theatre off of Notre Dame & his big thick moustache & sideburns. Here's a guy who being owner of a big movie theatre chain across Canada & who must have hobnobbed with Hollywood movie actors & shakers as well as being Bomber President & there I was just sitting across from his desk. A 17 year old kid just wasting his time. Next day at school I found out what happened to my friends. They were involved in a serious car accident. One of them hurt his neck & arm. He was wearing a collar & his right arm was in a sling. There were no smartphones back in those days so no one texted or called me to say what happened. I called Morton to apologize & explained what happened but he still didn't sound empathetic. Anyway, we were able to put the report together & our efforts got us an A so that is my non football memory of the Blue Bombers.

That is great. Your last part brought a tear to my eye. That is a wonderful memory.

Quit making this about ******* Boomers. We're all in this together & your take is just as bad as J5V's. By saying Boomer you imply it's anyone over 55's fault we have a pandemic. You don't like racism when Trump call it the Chinese Virus then quit making it about ageism. Your Boomer comment does not help.

I'm not worried about any Democratic States going to a more open situation but the Republican ones like Texas, Tennessee & Florida. they'll be locked stepped with Trump all the way. What scares me is that a new & worse outbreak in the US in a month or so because of Trump's incompetence will further drag the US down the economic **** hole thereby guaranteeing a Depression world wide. Triggering a second & more deadly wave of the virus world wide as well. No way will it stay contained within their borders. We are *******.

Agree. Things just become bogged down with a singular plot line the entire time. I still prefer 22 one hour long episodes where there can be different one hour stories within a storyline. In TNG, we were allowed to see how Data longed to be human & his attempts to be so. Especially the episode about time. Or Q giving Data the gift of laughter for a few short seconds. Worf was originally just a Klingon security officer but over the years we saw his character develop into a deeply religious Klingon who was very proud of both his Klingon & human roots. And we learned more about Klingon values than we ever did on any other Star Trek series. How Picard went from a lonely child hating grumpy old man in TNG's first season to a still gruff but kind hearted person who had a love of history & geology. The episode where an alien probe allowed him to have something he never had ; a wife & family. We see the loneliness he experienced when he out it wasn't real & his questioning of the choices he made in his life. I believe fans voted that episode the most popular ever of that series. None of these characters in today's Trek Universe would be allowed to grow & develop like that. You'd never see an episode that is solely concentrated on Picard being a husband & father on Discovery or the series Picard because it would take away from the 10 story arc. Yet it worked to perfection on a 22 one hour episodic sci fi series. In today's Trek World, there's no time for real character development. However, getting to know each character made Star Trek what it was going all the way back to Kirk in TOS. We saw the characters change in front of our eyes & we were invested in the different series because of it. I'll take a 22 episode season even with 4 or 5 duds over one that is 10 as the good outweighs the bad.

I miss Babylon 5. You never see it in reruns anywhere. I agree BTW.

Read my comments again. I didn't condone it. What's his playing with the BC Lions having anything to do with?

Which is why one plot story 10 episodes long doesn't work any better than a 22 one hour episodic series with a single story in each. Fans here have said that the writing would be better as less episodes mean less fill but like Discovery that hasn't happened. The real story here is the T'al Shiar infiltrating Star Fleet but it is an afterthought. Instead. it's a mission to save Data's synthetic daughter Soji.

No ,you never said that. You said no one should cheer for Joe Kapp. Why, what else did he do for you to have such a negative opinion?
-
-
What did he do to you?
-
Why? They both were great players. Both Hall Of Famers. Great competitors. Why would you wish bad things for them & their loved ones? I don't get the hate.
-
I just don't get why the samurai guy is there? So far he hasn't done much. And they keep killing off beloved characters like Hugh for no reason.

The last one is tomorrow.

Ten episodes. Zip!! It's done. Enjoyed it & I'm sure we'll see Season 2 sometime before 2023.

Zontar must be in self isolation.

Cuthbert didn't say Beagle. He said Regal.

Trump's probably not losing any sleep over it. I doubt if he even cares.

Boring. Rob Gronkowski??

Why do the Liberals need special powers to raise taxes? This makes no sense. Trudeau does have a minority government.

Thanks johnzo. They live in Auburn, WA. -
I wonder how the people of London felt in WW2 when the blitz was going on? People are supposed to sleep not stay up all night because of the barrage from the sky. We Canadians have had it so easy. The ONE TIME we are asked to sacrifice we ***** about not being able to go outside. The selfishness of people today is beyond words.

My son texted my wife. The State of Washington is under a stay at home order as of almost an hour ago. Stay safe, Johnzo. I've been laid off. No school. No school bus drivers. The company I work for is trying to get us a little bit more pay to the end of March. But some of the school boards may not want to pay us.
