  1. They say there's a vacuum of leadership in the White House. The space that should occupy Trump's brain in his skull is empty. A total vacuum
  2. I heard it in the media so naturally I would think that... All we heard all week is talk of Covid 19, no social distancing, super spreader... Of course it's the media.
  3. I remember the 1974 training camp. The Bombers had signed a hotshot qb out of the University of Houston named DC Nobles. He showed up first day of training camp driving a brand new Cadillac or Lincoln Continental. After that grand entrance he proceeded to struggle through training camp & pre season. He was cut. Who was the qb who made the team & backed up Don Jonas?? Why, it was an unknown rookie named Ralph Brock. He wouldn't be called Dieter for a few years yet. It was said that he had such a strong arm he could throw a football through a car wash & it wouldn't get wet.
  4. So, what to make of this? The media led us to believe that thousands upon thousands of supporters were just waiting to get into the arena. That the place would be packed to the rafters & it turns out it wasn't. No wonder people on both sides feel there's fake news.
  5. Khari Jones Dad was my facebook friend years ago. On more than one occasion we had some long late-night chats about football. Great guy.
  6. Well, why wouldn't he think that? He thinks he'll win. Otherwise, why bother running?
  7. No, you can win without Quebec. It means capturing seats in urban Toronto which the Conservatives could not do last time. However, not confident that any of the leadership candidates can do that.
  8. No, I'm a Conservative so I kinda understand that code. It's all about globalization & the UN. The UN becoming the one true world government. It's about Trudeau putting this country's interest second & the global UN agenda first. Now, open borders are a part of this for sure, I won't deny immigration isn't a part of this. But this is more about the fear of Trudeau's globalist policies. That's what O'Toole is referring to.
  9. A year from now if we play this season Randy will say (if the Als exceed the cap) that they had a new owner who didn't understand the inner workings of the cap & therefore it would be wrong to punish him & his team.
  10. The good ol' Vote of Confidence. I'm sure Jason Botterill approves.
  11. I would think that 'Taking back Canada" refers to Trudeau's one world government, no borders, globalist agenda as well as putting the interests of the UN ahead of Canada as he was desperate to secure a temporary UN Security Council seat. That's how I understand it. Commentators today are wondering if our foreign policy will change now that we lost the vote but somehow I doubt it.
  12. I never said anything like that. Especially about "poor, poor" assistant coaches. Those are your words & description. Not mine. Assistants don't get paid huge bucks but it ain't spit. And they earn every penny. They're at the office before 6 am & leave in the evening during the season. Guys like Pierce, Reid, Lewis & Mueller were already knowledgeable about the game before they were hired . I just said that RB Coach is usually the way for these guys to get on staff as entry level coaches.
  13. The cool thing about being a training camp regular is you get noticed by a lot of people. Fans were allowed to line the practice field at St Johns Ravenscourt as there were no stands to sit in so players would come off the field for a rest, look at me & say, "Hey man". To a 15 year old kid that was really something just to be acknowledged. Once in awhile a player would stand beside me & just have a quick chat before going back in. Wanted to know my name & what grade I was in, that kind of thing. Even the coaches would say hello. I remember having chats on the sidelines with Jack Matheson, Don Wittman & Bob Picken.
  14. Lots of us enjoy attending a training camp practice or 2 when the football season starts. As I've been living in Calgary since 1990, I haven't gone to many Stamps practices although when my sons played pee wee football I did take them a couple of times. But that was 2 decades ago. However, when I lived in Winnipeg I always tried to make it to at least one training camp practice every year. When I was a teen, I was there nearly everyday. Do any of you have a Bomber practice that stand out in your memory you'd like to share as we're all missing football right now? My best memory was being 15 years old & riding my bike to practice at St Johns Ravenscourt School in Fort Garry. It's about a 30 minute bike ride one way but I did it a lot back then. In those days, training camp started June 15th. I would usually be writing exams at Churchill High School but they'd be just about finished. Then I could go to training camp if I wanted to. I remember one day in particular. Warm, muggy June day & the forecast was for scattered thunderstorms in the late afternoon. When I left my house after lunch, it was a nice sunny day with just a few puffy clouds. During practice, the skies darkened & I was thinking I should leave but I wanted to see the afternoon scrimmage so I stuck around. Newcomer Don Jonas was battling it out with Benji Dial for the starting qb spot. Charlie Bryant was fighting with Mack Herron for a backfield position. There were a lot of new players on the roster so competition was keen everywhere. I stuck around & almost regretted it. I could see some dark clouds on the horizon coming my way. I decided it was time to split before scrimmage ended & rode like a crazy man all the way home while this huge thunderstorm chased me. I remember I was freaking out all the way home. By the time I did get about a km away from my house all hell broke loose. The rain came down like out of a shower head, hail, thunder, lightning & wind. I jumped off my bike & hit the ground running in full stride in the backyard soaked to the skin. My Mom thought I took too much of a chance with the weather & I got a big lecture from her. I never forgot THAT practice.
  15. Just what the hell are you blabbering on & on about? You make no sense.
  16. He'll get signed & go back to being a coach killer like he was with the 49ers. He was the worst starting qb in the NFL last time he played. When you lose your starting position to Blaine Gabbert...
  17. He actually digressed & played worse after Harbaugh left.
  18. Rookie Coach= Running Back Coach. Ask Buck Pierce where he started. Mark Mueller. Or Nik Lewis. They broke into the CFL as running back coaches. We all know Pierce did as well. Mark Mueller had little or no coaching experience but he was a U Sports qb. Fred Reid, former Bomber running back is the Argos backfield coach. He has no pro coaching experience. He was a HS head coach. There are other examples. RB Coach is considered entry level... on CFL teams. So, rookies.
  19. What a clown show by both the league & the Players...
  20. Rookie assistant coaches don't make a lot of money. I'd say $50,000 is a safe bet. The more experienced & the longer you coach the more $$$ you make. I don't think you have any idea of the pay structure for coaches & videographers in the CFL. You just believe because it's pro football that automatically they are making big bucks which is not true. They also have no benefits. Sure Miller & Walters make a high income but Walters doesn't make anywhere near what Hufnagel does or what Chris Jones or Jim Popp did.
  21. You just have to look at America's affinity with the Wild West & Civil war movies to understand why they like guns so much. Unlike Canada, the gun is part of their history through their War of Independence & Civil War right up to the taming of the West & then in the 1930's with the gangsters in Chicago & New York. The gun is then glorified with 2 World Wars, the Korean, Viet Nam & Gulf Wars. To a lot of Americans the gun is part of Americana like picnics & apple pie.
  22. How much more science is Ambrosie & the BOG's waiting for? A vaccine?
  23. Open carry is just a way to show people they are armed & you better not mess with them as they are warriors. The only problem is someday they'll meet someone also with a gun who is more of a warrior than them.... Idaho is an Open Carry State. I was in a Coeur D'Alene service station paying for gas when a young guy walked in with a handgun holstered to his side. He walked around the store making sure everyone saw him & he had this smirk on his face, probably singing the Bad Boy theme from Cops in his head. Meanwhile, I pay for gas, buy a bottle of wine & I'm asked for ID by the cashier as it is the law. I asked him why he needs to see my ID as I haven't seen 21 since 1976 & my grey hair & beard should have given away the fact I was at least in my 50's. He said he could be fined or go to jail if he doesn't ask. Those are some kind of ****** up government priorities as the dude with the gun could start shooting for no reason. Yet the State of Idaho is doing its Due Dilligence keeping underage drinkers from behind the wheel.
  24. This isn't Loblaws. Fans aren't stupid & they'll figure it out soon enough. They know what is going on unlike the inner workings of a large private business. If Hufnagel's salary is $650,000 (low estimate) & he cuts it to $520,000 (20% cut) yet they still lay off two assistant coaches who make $50,000 each & he could have taken a further pay cut to get down to $420,000 to cover those 2 coaches salaries but refuses it still is money that counts towards the admin cap as well as operating expenses of the Stamps. he just gets more than anyone else. Myself, I'm tired of seeing these CFL team Presidents, Head Coaches & GMs give themselves the big money while everyone else suffers. If anything good comes from this damned pandemic it's the end of paying guys like Hervey, Hufnagel & Jim Popp these outrageous big bucks. Look how much the Riders paid Chris Jones. The money needs to be spread around fairly.
  25. If these CFL execs are so selfish that they'd keep their salaries while cutting assistant coaches who make 10% of what they do is pretty low.
