Think of the bullet the CFL dodged. An All West Eskimos vs Riders Grey Cup in Calgary. What a disaster. Even Rider green wouldn't have saved that baby. Here we have 2 teams with a long tradition of great Grey Cups & someone will end a long drought on Sunday. I just hope it's us.
Here's a gem. From the 50th Grey Cup at Toronto's CNE Stadium on December 1, 1962. Better known as The Fog Bowl. Number 29 is Leo Lewis. The Bombers won 28-27 & the last 9:29 seconds were played Sunday December 2nd after the game was suspended because of thick fog. The Bombers had the one point lead when the game was halted & there was no further scoring. The 1962 season also marked the beginning of the iconic white W on our helmets.
The Bomber-Ti Cat rivalry gave the CFL some of its greatest Grey Cup moments & stars of the game. I'm so happy it's our 2 teams again going at it. I'd have hated a Riders-Eskimo Grey Cup. I may not have watched.
He had something like a Grade 9 education. I don't think he finished high school so I don't think he understood why people got upset. That being said, partisanship is a fact of life on social media. Cherry was a known Conservative supporter so there were a lot of people who wanted to take him out & destroy his career. I really think rather than racism, it was really him acting like a tough guy & reinforcing his brand.
Despite our win that was maybe the worst game called by LaPo this season. We all saw it. His playcalling nearly cost us the game. I agree he kept taking out Collaros, Strev kept failing on 1 st down, then ZC had to go in on second & long & save the drive. It wasn't working yet he stubbornly stayed with it. It was crazy especially in the last couple of minutes when we needed to keep the ball & run out the clock.
